    You know when the cat has settled in... everything else is going to be ok. I think that's part of why I'm loving your videos so much... you and Andrew are such lovely down to earth people (or certainly seem to be)... you have the lovely Matilda and an abundance of wildlife throughout your videos. I assume there are negatives to living on a narrowboat but you always make it look so poetic and charming.
    TH-cam is bouncing me around the chronology of your videos but well done for having come so far (I'd be terrified the first time I did anything like that too... you pushed through and did it like a champion!).

      Thank you for your lovely comment, it’s really cool to see people make their way through all the vlogs from the beginning! I’ve made a “all vlogs in order” playlist where they’re in chronological order (under the Playlist tab on my channel) if that helps at all!

    • @cpoco
      @cpoco 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@krisatomic Thank you for that. I don't mind the bouncing around... it's all a lovely journey so chronology isn't overly important.

    Its refreshing to see a woman who isn’t afraid to show her anxiety and worry on being a new boater, some try to style it out and be super cool but it is stressful as hell! Ofcourse it is! you so should have done a course on driving the boat first, you were v brave, well I’m impressed, well done both of you, the chap especially for being supportive and cool while you had your mini meltdown ( think it was the collander 😂) and avoiding a full scale 😭 incident 👍 i feel for you your thoughts must be wtf have we done this is such hard work etc, na in a few weeks you will be all sunshine and smiles one day you will wake up and FEEL free, so many will never know that feeling

    • @krisatomic

      That's very kind, thank you!! I think some people are just naturally very laid back, but I've never been chilled in my life haha. I'm still having a lovely time though! Probably should have done a course to be fair, but you know how life is. Just cracking on!

      @@krisatomic has she taken to the boat well? Did you do anything special to help her transition. Final question I promise, do you keep her in or do you let her off the boat? Maybe she was always indoors if you lived in London. My 2 are in and out all the time and if I were to move to a boat, retirement (consideration) I would want the cats to have a close a lifestyle as before.

    If you haven’t already, start a log book. A spreadsheet is what we use and we records locks, engine hours, mileage etc. It is wonderful to reflect back on and also helps regard to maintenance. Lots of boaters keep them.

    • @krisatomic
      @krisatomic  ปีที่แล้ว

      Good call on the spreadsheet! I’ve got an analogue version for the moment in a binder, we’ll see how we get on :)

    A year ago we brought our new to us boat down from Poynton to Droitwich. Our first locks were Bosley flight followed by a trip through Harecastle Tunnel. We did go and have some training before we left as neither of us had ever been or cruised a narrowboat before. Good luck with your travels.

    Binge watching to catch up now and it’s like following our own journey! The kettle choice (we got the same in cream), and taking up precious space coming back from Texas, choosing what to take and leave, and realising how ridiculous some of your choices were once you’re on board! And those very first locks 😮Love your captions ❤️😂

    Hi, watching you from northern Thailand. Love the production values, your skills shine through even on a rainy day. I spent three happy years in the Potteries many many moons ago and love the uniqueness of the place and the people, which is why I love living in Thailand. Oh yes, I also have the same coffee grinder! Looking forward to the next episode.

    Hello Kris, andrew and Matilda - greetings from Poland
    What a lovely video. A real introduction into cruising the canal system. And how nice to meet Matilda.
    I quite understand the anxiety and trepidations you both felt as you negoatiated your first locks. Well done to the both of you. Can I suggest you get yourselves a two way radio system. Mobile phones get dropped in the canal!
    Superb camera work with an excellent commentary. See you again soon. Stay safe please

    New sub - YT's stunningly good recommendation algorythm recommended you.
    Wonderful cinematography - it's heartwarming to see another seriously talented creative, acing YT!
    Loved the street scenes too, which hopefully will be a large part of the content at your winter moorings (although winter's almost over?🤔)
    Love that you took us along and showed a little bit of your work. It looks like you have a cool lifestyle.
    Tips from watching other YTers -
    Is Matilda microchipped ? Just in case she gets lost as territory is everything to outdoors cats. And check the chip's working, during any vet visit.
    Have you got some flotation devices for keys, phones and cameras ? and learn how try dry tech out so you're preped for an emergency
    Use the comments on your vids as content ideas, rather than feeling that you have to reply to each individually.

    Lost it at the kettle photoshop. Also the lock coordination drama, they seem like a lot of work!! Very much appreciated the coloring for the gloomy Paris and rainy canal days. The canal-side sights and homes are so fascinating as they sometimes look more like something out of the Netherlands rather than England, which fully makes sense but would probably fuck me up on Geoguessr tbh. Can't wait for the next!

    :grins: Twenty seconds in and already you are One Gold Viewer Kudos Point up by having a copy of Parallel Lines :D
    Also, loving the little sarky subtitles at certain points e.g. "Inaudible Grumbling" ... that would be me :lol:
    EDIT: Also, also {:D}, nice to see you were travelling local to me and it allowed me to play my I Spy game of recognising canal views and sites :D As you went under the fancy bridge was when I really pinned down where you were by things I had seen with my own eyes before ... altho' of course I knew the Potteries bits by name, having lived in Stoke for fifteen years in a previous life. The Plume of Feathers is great, especially in the summer, as I can walk up from Stone, have a glass of something and a bite to eat and then walk back ... and still feel virtuous :D
