I've been looking at these on and off for a couple of years now, my biggest concern with them is that despite the rarity there are owners out there who decided that cosmetic and drive-train modifications were the right thing to do. One that drives me crazy is seeing these with the later Gallardo nose installed, it is just wrong! Great car and great vid from you Jay! Cheers!
Personally, i’d only buy one of these (if i had the money) BECAUSE i was going to do those mods hahaha. I much prefer the 5.0 engine compared to the MK2 - but I much prefer the aesthetic and improved performance of the MK2 instead. You can always reverse body panel changes and a few modest performance mods.

Differences are carbon fiber package, different tune on the gearbox, carbon ceramic brakes standard, different tune on the engine ECU, thinner glass on the front windshield and doors and rear windows are polycarbonate instead of glass, rear lid is carbon fiber as well.
I have a white SL, amazing car and prefer it to the scuderia I had before it, Scud F1 was better but E gear is perfect on a fast road, , it still has the WOW factor in public and they are circa half the price of a scuderia, lot more user friendly for actually driving somewhere than the scud also,
My 2017 Mustang had the same problem when braking hard. They set the alignment from the factory so that the care changes direction easily and is very 'darty', but it's disconcerting under hard braking, and it makes the tires wear much too fast. I had mine realigned and am much happier.

Drove one of these on a track day experience, and the one things I noticed is how you sit. Your legs are at a diagonal angle to the pedals. Very weird set up.
David King - yep, same here. Really really loved the Gallardo until I drove it. The pedals are really off center so you are forced to sit wonky...where the brake pedal should be, the gas is there instead (as I found out by gently pushing it expecting the brakes and I suddenly shot faster forward)...almost dangerous if not used to it. The murcielago isn’t like that...the pedals are straight in front of the seat. Shame it’s such a big car that isn’t built for the UK roads...I’d imagine it’s a nightmare to drive down small roads we have. Funnily enough I came away preferring to “own” an R8 than a Gallardo...at the start of the day I would have point blank said I’d prefer the Gallardo every time prior to driving it. Best car I’ve ever driven was the McLaren 570s...it’s better in every possible way (so light and nimble) except for the exhaust noise. :)
