    LOVED the slider shot getting shot of slider @ :18 (among several others ofc!) 👏👏 nice review here, you def put some effort into shooting/editing this m8. Glad they carried over/improved upon some of the great features from Micro 3; seems extremely capable, and app doesn't look clunky/off-putting. only thing i was hoping to see was some unedited footage. For slider reviews, always good to see shots SOOC to get better idea of overall stability/micro-jitters/vertical limitations/etc .. any way to do a dropbox link to some raw test clips for folks to review/tinker with on NLE timeline?
    thx Troy and keep up the stellar work on this channel, love the delivery format and lack of click-baity crap. always glad to get a notification when new content pops up from you : ]

      @@TroyMairsyou betcha! always good to see what we'll actually going to be working with - a life of pain on the timeline never fun lol. Zeapon minimized it pretty well with the Micro 3, and guessing this is only going to be an improvement on SOOC stability.
      sidenote: love the broad topics you're coving on this channel. with "niche down" being emboiled into everyone's heads, i think you're doing it right covering mix of gear/editing/theory/technique/etc. keeps it fresh and informative! 👏👏

    They should do interchangeable rod length, because the 80cm is more practical, but sometimes you want the bigger length.

    • @TroyMairs
      @TroyMairs  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There is a piece of time that thinks you could switch the rod lengths out, but it wouldn’t be as intuitive as it could be. (I don’t know if they’ll sell individual rod length either)
      But you’re right! The 120 can be “too” long in some circumstances!

    Troy - Excellent video, I just received my Axis 120 Pro Kit and found your video. My first setup was smooth and your video was very helpful. One question how did you rig the overhead shots? I am guessing with two c-stands but would love to know how you set it up. I will be using the slider for some cooking videos among other productions and found your overhead spinning shot really interesting. Thanks and again great video.

      Thank you so much! That means a lot:) You hit the nail on the head! I used a 1/4x20 screw to baby pin adapter to rig the slider upside down using 2 c-stands. I found the rig to be quite solid, I think it'd be a great setup for your cooking videos! Thanks for watching!

    • @TroyMairs
      @TroyMairs  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Hi Troy, I only just discovered the Axis version vs the Micro 3. I don't mind that it is longer than the M3. Love that the basic pan is part of the travel motor set up, with more control. Reduces the number of batteries. Are the motors quieter than the Micro 3?

    • @TroyMairs
      @TroyMairs  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Having the pan head included in the motor head was an awesome upgrade for sure! The motors are far from silent at 100% speed, but I find myself running it at 30-40% speed for most of my work which makes for significantly quieter operation

Do you have any advice how to get picture look close to Arri Alexa 35 in the depth and dynamic range feeling when filming in slog3 (I'm not talking about color grading)? Would it help to record with Ninja V or it won't make a big difference vs XAVC S-I ?

    Hello!! My Axis 120 is quite noisy when it brakes and accelerates again. Too loud to use it for filming an interview. Is yours noisy? Thank you for your answer.

    • @TroyMairs
      @TroyMairs  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's unfortunate to hear! When operating at 100% my axis is a bit noisier than I would like, fortunately I find about 20% speed to be my preferred speed for an interview shot. At 20% I find that it is acceptably quite (but not silent). I haven't experienced any noise specific to braking and accelerating though, I'd suggest you reach out the Zeapon!

    Hi! Payload info is not that clear in real use. Do you believe it’ll work well with a camera like the Ursa Mini. Specs seem to hold the payload but so far ive seen it being used just with DSLRs, thanks!

    • @TroyMairs
      @TroyMairs  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would say you'd be fine rocking the Ursa Mini just on the pan head, I don't think the third (tilt) axis would fit the Ursa or be able to hold it. I'd also try to keep the slider horizontal, as the more vertical you get the less payload the motor can withstand as the weight multiples.

    Brilliant overview! This certainly looks tempting… How do you find Zeapon’s customer service? I’m concerned that in a number of reviews on Amazon, there’s a common complaint that if there’s any problem with their gear, Zeapon doesn’t respond to emails at all. You could have one small part break, leaving you with an expensive piece of broken tech, in what should have been a simple $20 part replacement/fix. I have tried to contact them myself with a simple product inquiry regarding their Micro series - tried a few times through their website and Facebook. They’ve never responded, so in the end I didn’t feel confident buying it.

    • @TroyMairs
      @TroyMairs  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you! I appreciate you checking out the video! :) Great question. I haven't had a need yet to use Zeapon's Customer Service, as I haven't had anything break/go bad. I have this Axis slider as well as the smaller Micro3 slider as well, so I guess it's a positive thing I haven't had to use Customer Service :) Lol! But I also don't have any first hand experience to be able to answer that question for you.
      When we were in talks for this project, I didn't have any trouble communicating with their Marketing team! That's about the extent of my experience.
      Poor customer service certainly can be a headache! Let me know if there is anything else I do for ya! Thanks again!

    Just got my 120cm Pro today. Love it and hate it. I expected motor noise to increase with speed, but did not expect to have electronic noises sounding like an ambulance siren, that increases with speed. The ‘manual’ for want of a better word, says that the speed can be adjusted while operating - it cannot. You have to stop the sequence, whether manually entered or via the app, before the speed will change using the knob on the base unit. The camera mount does not allow much room on the side, so I can’t plug in a mic receiver, or video transmitter. How do you go back to manual use after connecting with the app. The manual says nothing about the app, except to use it. There is a QR code in the tilt module manual, but it goes nowhere ‘504’ error. Programming in a simple tilt down A to B, the tilt completes just before the end, then tilts up slightly before returning. Not good for repeatable Timelapse. Do wish that the waypoint mode flowed continuously, rather than pausing at each waypoint.
