I’ve been riding Harley’s for 45 years. Best one I’ve owned was a Streetbob with Vance and Hines pipes and Screamin Eagle tuning kit. Just got a Breakout. Looks great, not a patch on the old Harley for handling or performance! 😢
I have a 2023 Breakout ( orange ) and after a few hundred miles I found that to counter steer around corners Is the way to go ....I love this bike , Great video mate .
@ not on some Harleys, the 114 models usually have a decent filter; you will need a tuner though for the correct fuel mixture. V&H make one of these too called the Fuel Pack.
I must say I do love the look of the Breakout. But a 25k in price I shouldn't have to go and spend another 8 to 10k to get it to run better. Harley Davidson should be doing that from the very start for their customers even at 25k there over priced for what you get.
That’s the problem with Harley, one needs to always spend more than the basic bike to get it to sound right and run freely. But is Harley owners know that before we get suckered in…
I sold my ‘15 Breakout in August ‘23. It had 76k miles on it. I’ll be 75 this year and my health was getting worse every year, so I did what I thought was best. Still, I didn’t want to sell but I had to.
It’s a seriously attractive bike, park and enjoy chatting to the gathering crowd admiring its looks. Or alternatively get a small dog (puppy) offers a similar way to attract strangers for a chat!
I like your review because you were honest about this bike's shortcomings I test rose this bike and I also had a problem accessing the brake pedal! I have a 2021 Fat Boy with the same 240 rear tire and it's a bear to make turns. This bike handles about the same (maybe a tad easier?). However, I feel that the entire front end of this bike is hideous. The forks, headlight are an ugly mess. I thnk my Fay Boy is much more attractive while still being badass. .
Thank you for the kind compliment, yes, the bike has some issues, as I made clear. But I don’t think this will put people off purchasing the breakout, as they’ll fall in love with its looks or in your case not! Yes, the fat boy has an amazing presence that is hard to beat. Thank you for commenting and much appreciated.
Great video! I need a break out 117 in my life. Along side, my 2013, V Rod Muscle and my 2020 road king special with a 128. I plan on taking that 117 to 135.
I just had a look at the Breakout and found the breather on the right side in my leg's way. I'm 6'2". I love the looks of the bike, but couldn't ride it stock as I can't get my right leg comfortably on the right peg and brake peddle. Is there a flatter breather, more like the one on the Fat Boy that you could exchange for to give the right leg better room?
Love your HD reviews a lot! Am beginner and hesitating between Fatbob and breakout. You have experience with both. Power is not important, ergonomic position and safety are everything. Any recommendations would be helpfull…🙏🏼
Thank you for your kind comments. Only you can decide between Fat Bob and the Breakout. Breakout of course is more of a head turner, Fat Bob more nimble to ride. Then there is the price difference, you could do a lot to a Fat Bob 114 with £5k-£6k to spend of mods... Whatever you choose it will be big smiles. Cheers.
Definitely has the look a lot of people want. As for upgrading to stage 2 I don't see the point. It's a cruiser/poser. If you want a bike that'll jump out from underneath you then buy a crotch rocket to begin with. Just my opinion. I'd buy one of these in a heart beat (old guy here), but I like the payments on my 2016 Fat Boy with stage 1.
@@FenTour Thanks for your highly appreciated, mate 🙏 I know very well what you mean, although I'm riding Kwakis all my life (after reaching legal age, of coz) , at least 1 HOG's (most of the time) in my garage as well 😁.
The Breakout is gorgeous. But best suited for local riding since it has no storage and the ride quality is not what you would want to make 350 miles a day
I would say that longer days up to 250 miles should be fine, easy to fit a removable cissy bar and rack for luggage if needed. Ideally for distance the ST as Alan was riding is more suitable or better still a Roadglide.
@@FenTour Road Glide or Street Glide for sure. My buddy and I just got back from a 3 day 1,200 mile tour of Utah, Arizona and Nevada on Road Glide Ultra’s. Very comfortable and lots of storage and ran pretty good thru the canyons and up and down the mountains
It looks good, sounds good, and is fun on a straight road. But get into the twisty's and it's not that great. Not to mention the heavy air breather in the way of anything you might want to do with your right foot.
@@AlanGo there is a tune indeed, that’s with the V&H tuner. The breakout I rode was so equipped and tuned. The new E5 exhaust regs stopped Harley from doing it directly, the V&H tuner gets around the exhaust sensors (or lack of) and allows the tune.
Whole new level of short shifting there.....c'mon man wind 'er up! LOL! You didn't even hit the power band. "skeer'd" maybe?! J/k man... I have a '23 breakout myself. Tore it down for stage 2 (Star 30/30 cam, Freedom Turnout Exhaust) with 0.00 miles. Loved it so much that I just tore it down again for a 132" S&S big bore with 540C cam at 2500 miles.... LOOOOVE it now! Fun Bike!!! Cheers!
