Sometimes, learning what we don’t like in things is more valuable than getting it right the first time. You’ll never truly know what you like and what is perfect for you until you earn it.

I really love my 2023 breakout in Johannesburg, ride it to work a lot and for weekend rides. Have not taken it on a long trip as yet, agree the forward steering is a bit of a reach, ever though i am a tall guy at 6.1 feet. Also the buffeting at speed is a bit hectic but expected. Beautiful powerful machine though.

How does it handle speed bumps in Joburg roads with its low ground clearance? 🤔

@ Its actually ok, just go slowly over those. My previous Adventure had no problem with that but was far to high, thus i really prefer the breakout. Height not a problem. ;)

I have had my breakout about six months, I agree with the back issues, but I'll add that I changed out the bars and put on fat boy bars, I wanted black so I found a 2020 fat boy special edition bar that was black (my breakout is white pearl onyx) and changing the bars made a world of difference. I find that before I changed the bars I could only ride about an hour, then I'd have to swap to my sport bike, but now I can ride this literally for hours. I don't know if you got rid of the breakout yet, but changing the bars (and adding longer break and clutch lines) made a world of difference to me. I'll still eventually trade this in likely for a heritage, but that's a few years out from now.

I had a 2018 Sport Glide with forwards... and 6" risers with 2" pullbacks. Even at 6'5", my lower back was hurting in 45 minutes. The bike was a lot of work to ride, compared to my BMW 1250 GS. I did put a Showa 57mm 4.5" rear shock off of a Fatbob, to tighten up the steering on mine, and it helped, a lot.

I’m glad the algorithm sent me your video. I own the Ducati Supetsport 950S and a Honda Fury. I’ve wanted the Breakout since I started riding. I love the Fury with that riding position. I test rode the Breakout but the $26k out the door price scared me off. Your bikes beautiful but I’ve learned that if it doesn’t fit you then it’s the wrong bike. It is beautiful. ;-) I’ll be following you to see where you go next.

I think its all personal preference. I like low to the ground with no fairing. Handles well idk what this guy is talking about. I love mine and have put 5k miles on it. I’m only 5’7 my first Harley was a 2011 streetbob I’m more of a bobber guy than a chopper. I loved the bike I think a streetbob would do you better. I’ve been a bagger guy since then. I really love my 23 Roadglide-ST it has the perfect balance of performance and sport when I want to really lean the bike and the 117 stock on it is pretty dam good out the box.only issue is backing the bike up since the seat height is higher than a normal bike. Makes it a bit more difficult backing up with shorter legs but it’s doable.

Most motorcyclists buy with their heart. We want what excites us but it doesn’t usually mean it’s going to work well for us. I bought a Yamaha Majesty 400. A practical scooter that was a daily driver with protection and storage for commuting. But it was boring and lame. I sold it and bought a HD 1200 Nightster. Uncomfortable and impractical. I did love it but not exactly a daily driver. Lesson learned, find the balance in a bike.
I recommend a Triumph Speedmaster 1200 for your stature. Fantastic, good looking bike that is very comfortable.

I’m a new sub I’ve owned a 18 Fat Bob, 21 Sport Glide & now the Heritage. I love the Heritage! My hands are in a comfortable position as well as the foot controls. The wheel base is shorter and it’s extremely easy to handle. I’d recommend checking a Heritage I don’t think you’ll regret it😎

I use mine for riding to work which is the reason I bought it in the first place plus my little weekend running around. And I'm a short guy 5'8! I agree with your review Lenny. Two ways I plan to correct your 2 issues is this: 1) Put some mini ape hanger bars to bring the controls closer to me. This will also add to the traditional chopper look. And, 2) I took a slow riding motorcycle course where feathering the clutch and rear brake make it possible to turn this thing on a dime.
