Earthbound Orkney

This film is part of the exhibition Earthbound Orkney exploring the nature, craft and culture of Orkney's clay earth. It shows the artist Becky Little making rammed earth cubes and polished spheres of local soils for display in the exhibition.

Beautiful textures and colours.
I've often admired landscape and soil profiles thinking how natural geological processes, over millions of years, had created perfectly beautiful visual combinations. Your contrast of rough and polished finishes is marvellous. It's like a salute to 'deep time'.

Playing with soil (and rolling it into little balls) as I walk through a landscape is one of my favorite things to do. Thank you for this beautiful video and clear instructions. I can't wait to try making my own!
