Sir you are a life saver! Nobody else on this website had a solution like you did that was easy to follow. I just saved 700 dollars aprox. I'll subscribe out of gratitude!
Thank you, great video, I just experienced the same issue and did all the same steps as showed here, but still says no key detected, not sure if something wrong inside the steering lock module such as pcb, please any thoughts? Thanks again.
Thank you!! I did all the steps and fix my car. But, the two bolts were not easy to pull out. To unscrewed them, I hit them with flat screwdriver and a hammer toward anti clockwise. I’ll change the bolt, so I can unscrew them easily if I got the same problem. Thank you for sharing !!!
Saved me $600 and a stranded vehicle. Daughter's car got stuck in the company parking lot. I looked up several videos and yours was the most helpful. Tried a hammer; didn't work. I used needle-nosed pliers to pull the bolts out and cut slots in them. I had to drill and install a self-tapping screw, then cut it off flush as my module has a socket that it fits tightly in. What a horrible design.
This is covered under a recall go to Nissan and get it replaced for free the new part does not have the lock anymore they will replace it even now its a known recall
Thank you so much for that advice. I really appreciate it. I taped the steering module, it started right up. However, the 2 screws holding the module is difficult to remove. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you for sharing the video. Truly a blessing.

Do you know if 2014 pathfinder has that same mechanism, I’ve tried everything on TH-cam and car still not recognizing my key. Doesn’t even unlock or lock
Yes I did. Towards the end of the video, where I wrap it up, I mention it's the next day. The customer picked up the vehicle, experienced the problem again, and came back to the shop. I then did the more permanent fix where we drilled the screw in.
Seems like my 09 Altima has this issue. :( I'm gonna try to get it to my mechanic somehow, and see if he can fix it like this. I'll show him this video, hopefully he can do it
I need help - I tried these things thinking it was my steering wheel lock. When i removed the box , that lever never appeared out like it did your's , yet i cant unlock my steering wheel. im so lost on what to do and i have very little money to spend $1000 US on replacing the box. Is there anything else you recommend to remedy the situation?
i did this fix on my 09 nissan several years ago and now I am unable to program new smart keys to the car. Best to replace the unit and not "fix" it, although great video!!!
Bought the brand new part for 500$ maybe i should try the screw technique seems how the old one randomly started to work or maybe even the clicking with a screw driver
Could be! Customer was prepared to buy the part if we couldn't get this to work but it's not that unusual of a problem so we felt there was a pretty good chance of this working out.

Como se llama la pieza, muy valioso tu video, saludos desde México
Once you've "unlocked" the device and it starts the vehicle, can't you go to the fuse panel and remove the fuse for the device?
Yes you can
Would this be the same for a 07 maxima?
Cost $1.100 at dealer- had to ride in towtruck 85 miles with Altima on back..two week wait to fix.
How do I get the security bolts off
Thanks for the video but did you ever hear back from the customer thanks

What if u cant find it o. 2010 Nissan Altima 2.5s i looked and its not there
2010 does not have that issue why look LOL and they removed that system after 2009
Does this solution prevent the alarm from working?
We didn't test that in this case so not actually sure. I would *think* it would act as a bypass but I can't say for certain.
I just paid $2k to have this exact problem fixed.
