Not my favorite but I loved your reasoning on how this was a great story! Your deconstruction makes me look at it differently! I prefer the (richly) animated and fully-developed Superman of the late '00s-early 10s films! Now, to contradict myself: watching you watch it shocked me because of its similarities to my new favorite show, "My Adventures with Superman!" With apologies to Stan Lee, who says this isn't the Age of DC Continuity? :)
@ReelRejects My god... You guys have a quick joke/clever comment for EVERY. SINGLE. LINE. IN. THE. REACTION. Literally NOTHING happens in the movie, without BOTH of you immediately jumping to make a joke... Don´t you think that´s a bit much..?? I mean: 33:02. 33:21. 33:25. 33:41. 33:51. 33:53. That´s SEVEN JOKES in JUST ONE MINUTE... ALL OF THEM in the middle of HIGHLY DRAMATIC SCENES. Just saying... Parasite´s death was SO SAD, so many reactors get emotional during that scene. Meanwhile, you two: 33:25 :S
When Lobo says "I ain't never heard of no flying Kryptoninan..." is because Jor-El was the only one aside from his brother that knew that other color Stars would affect Kryptoninan biology. Kryptonians like General Zod are the reasons Jor-El kept that little ditty to himself, and knew what he was doing when he sent Clark in that pod to Earth. So a lot of other aliens in the galaxy that were aware of Kryptons existence were unaware of this information.
I love the portrayal of Clark’s anxiety over the world’s xenophobia. From childhood, he has a legitimate reason to be worried about coming out to the public. And I love that he uses his newfound courage to solve the conflict. So many lesser Superman stories focus on his power, but the best ones show what truly makes him super, his heart.
@@jynxce It's not necessarily cherry picking, but I suppose Snyderfans take everything as a direct attack. It seems like everything is treated as us vs. them. Of course Snyderverse and Smallville are going to be people's go to comparisons. They're arguably the biggest of their respective mediums. I'd done the same. While I've seen most of the other Superman live-action iterations, I don't remember whether Jonathan Kent is alive in most or not. Whether it's because they were forgettable or it's just been decades.
@@ImAlsoMerobiba I honestly just never realized the Snyder Superman was that popular. I hear "Superman Movie" and I think of "Superman: The Movie" from 1978. Which I still feel like is the most well known live action Superman, and the one that began the tradition of killing off Johnathan Kent.
Honestly lobo saying he seen a kryptonian or two probably means he has met general zod and his group during his bounties, meaning that zod still doesn’t know Superman exist yet
Could have been kara too and idk about mon el in this universe making an appearance but it could be cool to see a tomorrowverse version of man of steel or Superman 2
It occurs to me JUST NOW that the design for Jordan Kent's super hero costume in Superman and Lois is inspired (or taken from) the tomorrow-verse Clark. What he's wearing right now is exactly the outfit they have Jordan Kent wearing in that show.
Tomorrow verse starts with Constantine: The House of Mystery; an animated short film in the DC Animated Film Universe that followed John Constantine after the events of Justice League Dark: Apokolips War.
Prior to Crisis on Infinite Earths and the Byrne reboot in the mid 80s, Ma and Pa Kent passed away shortly before Clark went to Metropolis University in Earth 1 continuity. In pre-Crisis Earth 2 continuity, which began in Action Comics 1, the Kents passed before Clark went to Metropolis.
Everyone feels they know the story of Superman There are so many origins where he's the first, one of many, the only, etc. But all the best make sure to hold onto the fact that there is nothing or no one like Clark.
Pa Kent also dies in Superman 78 and in Superman and Lois with the heart attack. That’s a better way to die than a tornado since Clark can’t stop a heart attack.
That's my expectation too, although I think he'll skip almost all parts of the origin. I expect we'll basically see the Superman who would come after this movie. One who already has his suit and knows who he is, but is just starting out fighting villains.
THANKS for this, guys!!! When you take a break from the Tomorrowverse, I'd love for you to do "Superman/Batman: Public Enemies" and the sequel "Superman/Batman: Apocolypse," and also the solo classics "All-Star Superman" and "Justice League: New Frontier!"
Not called the Tomorrowverse. Terrible name given by some fans because Man of Tomorrow was first (like Arrow and Arrowverse). Long Halloween was originally meant to be first so then people would call it the Halloweenverse.
I'm fine if they want to keep Johnathan Kent alive for at least Superman Legacy, but he has to die in the sequel! His death (and I'm talking about his heart attack, not a stupid tornado) is that realization moment for Clark where he's forced accept he can't save everyone. "All these powers, and I couldn't even save him" is still the best line to describe that
This is how you do a Superman movie with multiple characters in it. Superman: Legacy might have a chance. I really love the parallels of Lobo, Martian Manhunter and Superman. The three aliens and how they see the world differently, but all have to live in it
Indeed. All three characters are the last of their kind (Czarnian, Martian & Kryptonian, respectively). However, Lobo actually did a nearly complete genocide of his race except for himself of course.
Alan Grant wrote a novel Last Sons about those three characters and it was even turned into a Graphic Audio (audio book with full voice cast). It was really a Lobo story guest starring Superman and Martain Manhunter- but hey, I was sold at it having Lobo. It was great.
They are making a “Crisis on Infinite Earths” film, set to release in 2024. Which I’m guessing will end this universe to make sure for the animated stuff within the DCU.
Man I love superman Man of tomorrow I used to watch ever Superman movie and every DC animation show or movie years back when they made Netflix and the brand new TVs
This is one of my favorite animated Superman films ever :) plus I love Martian Manhunter’s inclusion in this. He had a creepy intro and was an awesome character. He’s an underrated super hero and probably my favorite personally.
"The Main Man, Part 1" and "The Main Man, Part 2" when Brad Garrett debuted as Lobo in "Superman: The Animated Series" as a bounty hunter for The Preserver voiced by Sherman Howard who portrayed Lex Luthor in Superboy (1988-1992) was my favorite character centric episode. Again he is the anti-hero just gets on Superman and Lois' nerves as he is trying to collect his reward from The Preserver who collects the rarest of species for his personal collection.
Love these! Y'all need to go back to some of the original animated movies outside of the continuities. Like Justice League: New Frontier, All Star Superman, Superman/Batman: Public Enemies and Apocalypse. I love those movies
Next you guys should do a couple older ones. Superman Unbound and/or Superman Vs. The Elite. Both are really solid Supes movies and Superman Vs. The Elite shows how freaking powerful Superman is but keeps the goodness of Superman.
The guy that voices Lobo is Ryan Hurst, who played Opie in Sons of Anarchy. If you see him in that, plus the attitude he brings here, he would be perfect for live action Lobo. And Frag is his catchphrase. He’ll always say that.
Love his original suit design. Its based off of an amazing miniseries called Superman American Alien. The Superman and Lois show used it for Jordan's costume
It’s not based on American Alien at all other than really 1 moment with issue 5 and he does fight Lobo in issue 7. American Alien was a different time period every issue which wasn’t this movie.
@@astitvasrivastava2821 Probably, but the suit in American Alien still doesn’t quite look like that where it is only in 1 issue. It’s sleeveless and he has Batman’s cape along with a spray painted S.

DCAU Jon: Am I a joke to you?
Yep, exactly!
The funny thing about Lobo is he actually did kill his entire planet’s species just so he could be more unique in the comics
Woah so he's almost like a genocidal space-hitler bounty hunter.
When Lobo says "I ain't never heard of no flying Kryptoninan..." is because Jor-El was the only one aside from his brother that knew that other color Stars would affect Kryptoninan biology. It's not just the Snyder Superman. I'm pretty sure every single live action Superman story has Pa Kent dying early on. 😢

Lobo is definitely one of my favorite characters in the DC universe.
Fun Fact: Stan Lee's favorite DC character was actually Lobo.
How does Coy not know that Lobo heals?
Which is funny since he’s a parody of the most popular 90’s marvel characters (wolverine and punisher)
Mine is deathstroke and nightwing
I dont like very much powered heroes
Stan Lee has lost his sense of taste.
Lobo is definitely DC’s Deadpool
I’d say lobo and harley
44:10 also Pa Kent dies in the Christopher Reeves Superman film.
Pa Kent also dies in the original Christopher reeves superman movie, while Clark was in high school
This movie is a perfect example how i want Superman legacy to he
A simpler story about a guy who just wants to do right in the world
I’m gonna love this movie
I like alot of Superman animated movies, but this is probably my favorite Superman animated film of all time.
“You seem like a calm and reasonable person”
Honestly, I thought this was the best Superman movie since 78. Like this was a great origin and supes flick.

Aww, I legit just came to the comments to see if anyone answered Coy's question about Mike Jones.
Ew
He becomes parasite, absorbing every power, superman, or other power people
Prior to Crisis on Infinite Earths and the Byrne reboot in the mid 80s, Ma and Pa Kent passed away shortly before Clark went to Metropolis University in Earth 1 continuity. In pre-Crisis Earth 2 continuity, which began in Action Comics 1, the Kents passed before Clark went to Metropolis.

NO. Dcau. The original if they haven’t seen it. Preferably justice league. Than young justice eventually.
The young justice comment is 100% correct. You guys would love that series so much

Czarnians can regenerate from a single cell, they have the strongest healing factor in comics
I think this is how James Gunn will do Superman Legacy, don’t make a full origin story and see Clark as a rookie reporter and hero.
That's my expectation too, although I think he'll skip almost all parts of the origin. I expect we'll basically see the Superman who would come after this movie. One who already has his suit and knows who he is, but is just starting out fighting villains.

Coy and John: "What happened to Mike Jones?"
