Thank you so much for the mention Cathy! Means a lot coming from a pro like you, this was so satisfying to watch 💅👏 Very happy to see lots of O&J, Yamazaki and Nécessaire favourites here too, twins! x

And, last but not least, you inspired me (well, you and a podcast I listen to!) to check out Merit. So far loving what I've picked up! xo
Ha! My manicurist finally asked me how I always seemed to break my right thumb nail. I finally told her I was trying to open a stubborn bottle of vodka. She laughed but never asked me again. Lol.
That is true! I know it's just my nails trapping pigment and it's no biggie. But sometimes I want to do a sheer and it always seems like the yellow shows through. lol!
@@czdesign yes, but try not to forget to use base coat. I also do my nails since I was 7 years old! I know it happens. But I have so many years painting my nails only French style and the yellowness disappeared, so that demonstrates it is only dark pigment colors, so keep on painting those beautiful nails os yours any color you like!!!! Greetings from Panama 🇵🇦
Thank you for the manicure tip, I did the French manicure per your suggestions.. I absolutely love the results..gonna try it on my toes since my hands now look lovely.
Having gotten my nail tech certification 20 years ago, I will applaud you for your suggestions. I used tell clients not to expect their "professional" manicure to last more than 3 or 4 days if they were not taking care of their hands, and keeping the nails out of water, as much as they could. Had not looked at Olive & June but I am intrigued a bit... Enjoyed your video.
Thank you so much Cathy. I will try to channel My inner Cathy and get into a routine. With all the handwashing and sanitising my hands and nails have taken a real battering. I must be kinder to them. I've learned some new things there. My nails always peel and wafer, so I'll give snipping a go. Thank you my friend. Xx

My Olive and June starter kit arrived today (and I used your code to buy it). I've been watching you enjoy this for ages. You wore me down. hahahahahaha
Thanks for your mani inspiration. Your nails always look great on your videos1 You are the reason I got into O & J! I love their polishes and cuticle serum❤
Thank you for sharing. Before the pandemic I always got my nails done but then I stopped and they look pretty bad. Your nails always look fabulous in your videos. Thanks for sharing your secrets.
Beautiful Cathy! It took me 40 years to figure out filing my nails makes them peel, so now I always snip the ends to shape them and no peeling!! And I also have the glass cuticle pusher(amazing) and file. I always enjoy your videos! Thanks Cathy!
Wow.....I have just been trying to figure out what I need to do rather than spending $100 to get my nails done. This is GREAT and my 13 yr old daughter and I can do this together!! I used to bite my nails and skin and cuticles and everything so I am excited that my nails are actually growing & can have something that will help them from breaking!!👏👏👏👏
Oh that makes me happy! And yes, you can both do it. My daughter and I (and she's now 26!) still love to paint together. She is a mani pro now! I love it!

Yes! Just do the prep and even if you get a chip, don't ditch the whole mani! Just dip that finger in a remover pot, and redo it. I do that every time I get a chip. Then I'll just use a quick dry top coat on that finger so I don't have to wait as long.
I enjoyed this very much. I am always at a loss with my nails. I picked up the kit using your code and some other goodies. Looking forward to giving it a whirl. Thanks, Cathy.
You make it look easy, Cathy. I do have some O&J products thanks to you. But I detest doing my own manicures. I always! mess them up on at least 1 finger. My finger tips are always dry and hard no matter how much stuff I put on them. And I have NOT improved my applications. Thank you for sharing this info. Great tutorial as always, Cathy! Thank you! Also, I enjoyed watching @the Salon Life tutorial about the cuticle. Coming from a medical background, causing inflammation to the skin, this will trigger more skin cells - it’s the body’s way of trying to heal wherever there is damage to the skin. So, causing more inflammation by being too aggressive when cleaning the cuticles, will surely cause an increase of skin cells to migrate in. Also, I thought it was a great idea when she rinsed off the cuticle remover! Never thought about doing that but I will surely do that from now on. I ordered some of the moisturizers you recommended. My skin is crazy dry to due to a medical condition. Thanks so much!! 💅🏻 ❤️
Isn't her channel great? And yeah, I'm being much more careful with the whole nail plate these days! I hope you like the moisturizers. They are all great! I just ordered two more tubes of the Necessarie one!
Hi there :) Yes, some cuticle removers can be very very alkaline. Blue Cross has a pH of 14. It's main ingredient is potassium hydroxide (KOH)/aka caustic potash. Yes, it breaks down the skin but it will break down the nail too. Try keeping it off the skin as much as you can because it can break down skin barrier. So I don't like to use it if clients skin is irritated. If the skin is intact I make sure I neutralise it with lots of water.
Thank you so much! I’ve been doing my own nails for MANY years and gave even received compliments on them when getting a pedicure. So many new ideas for me- I’ve already ordered a couple of the things you mentioned. (Two for one hand cream!😊) polish has always been my weakness. I LOVE color and obviously we can enjoy our nail color all day long. I ordered the O&J mani system bc of you and I love it!!😍 Love your channel and feel like you’re my friend!
You remind me of taking more care of my hands and nails! Can’t use nail polish unfortunately because of my asthma, but I can take care of them with some oils🥰 I have especially for nails so looking it up first thing tomorrow and waiting for it to use before I go to bed, because it is really oily and don’t want everything to get oiled haha. Love your manicures always!!! And also a tip ,maybe for people with "weak" nails. I take vitamin D3 with calcium on prescription of the doctor (always ask the doctor how much you need and if you need any, not everyone has a deficiency!!!) and my nails are so strong since I use that. Tried nail strengthers before in the past, but now doesn’t need it anymore
Thank you Cathy for sharing your routine with us. It was very informative. I learned some things that I will incorporate into my nail routine to see if it will help my nails. They peel REALLY bad. I will get me a glass file, I’m cautious about filing my nails but I will try new things to see if it works.
One thing you can do for peeling is use more oil and creams just on your naked nails. To see if it helps. And, only file in one direction. Sometimes that can help. I do go back and forth sometimes, though. It's an old habit!
Using either Gena's _Healthy Hoof_ or Onyx Professional's _Hard as Hoof_ nail cream once or twice a day works wonders for strengthening nails and keeping the peeling either to a minimum or making the issue disappear altogether.
Looking forward to this. Now that I am back working more from the office and seeing more people i am thinking it might be time to step up my game a wee bit. My hands look pretty much atrocious.
Appreciate this info! Your nails always look great 😊 My nails have ridges and I hate that. They are brittle and split easy. I’ve always wanted healthier nails and your info I hope will help. I’ve been looking at the Olive & June site but not sure what to start with 🤔🥴 any suggestions?
Hey Connie! You know, I have ridges on some nails too (well actually on most of them!) but once I do a mani, you often don't notice. Olive & June has a Ridge Filler product that can help. If I were just starting out, I'd get the mani system + 1 polish, and add the Ridge Filler to your order. That way you can try the whole system out. Then you would have all the mani tools (clippers, nail file, buffer, remover pot, etc) and you could try them out. However, if your nails are brittle and split easily, I would start using a nail/cuticle oil every day. Morning and night, to see if that helps. I love all of the ones I show in the video! they are all good. Hope that helps!
Craft/nail salon/dining room! Thanks for the tips. The only glass nail files I’ve ever used lose the filing part very quickly. Does the one you use do that? I was amused at the use of “proximal,” because my arm break is at the proximal humerus! (NOT funny! 😉🤪) I like to put a coat of clear gel on my mani. My nails are quite thin, so it gives my nails a little support as well as protecting my mani. Your nails are always gorgeous! 😊❤️
Normally, i get a solid 5 days with no chips, IF i do the prep correctly. And I do my own house cleaning etc. But i wear gloves for dishes! Oh and when I'm crafting, I don't use my nails to open things etc. I always say: jewels not tools!
Your nails always look spot on (love all the colors) and this was a helpful video. I've done my nails myself for years but haven't taken good care of the cuticles for a long time. You have some great prep techniques and fantastic products. The oils and cremes look so healthy but considering you work with paper.... how does that work? Do you wash them before you craft or how long do you have to wait so the paper doesn't get stained?
Great question, Melissa! So… i never use the oils before crafting! They would get ALL over. Instead, I use the Cuticle Serum, that stuff in the pink tube. That is a non greasy serum that soaks right in an never causes any issue on the papers! It's a magical thing, truly!
@@czdesign oops I hit the thumbs down instead of reply first... Thank you for confirming those 2 items are non greasy-so many things claim that LOL. I will definitely try some of these things soon!
My mom gave me a glass nail file years ago & I could not use it!! It was like fingernails on a chalk board to me and sent chills up my arms. I do like all the other products you demonstrated, and appreciate the tips (no pun intended). I never wear color on my nails, only clear, but I will try some of the other items. (God forbid I draw attention to my ugly nails/hands with polish! LOL) Thanks for the video! (PS I like the 2 coats vs the 3 coats. I think the thicker application looks like fake glue-on nails, whereas the 2 coats look more natural. Just saying!)
Kay, I bet your hands are just fine! And I do love just clear painted on nails! Like Gina K does. But my nails are too yellowed right now, and so clear is not a good look! lol!
No. I never do. : ) Sometimes, I do the cold water trick. Ever try that? You run your hands under the coldest water you can stand. Not sure it if works or not but… usually, i try to paint thin coats and wait that 10 minutes in between to help the drying. I never rush the process. Then after it's all done, I chill out for at least 30 minutes. Like I said, it's downtime and I try to embrace not always doing something. Which is hard for me, but I'm learning!
I really appreciate the french manicure vid and having pointed me to the info from The Salon Life yt channel so even though I discovered O&J elsewhere and could have used their 20% off code, I used yours, instead. I hope you have a cup of coffee on me or perhaps they they give you free polish? Cheers! 😊
I’m sooooo looking forward to do my nails again, when I change my job. Now I’m working in a hospital, and even as an admnistration help we are not allowed to have nailpolish 🙄🤮

I totally get that! I just don't like getting my nails done in a salon. Lol. It's an introvert thing… it always makes me feel weird. haha
Stunt sleeve 😂
Trust me, that sweater in the shot? I can't get it around my body right now. hahaha. TOO small!
But my nails are too yellowed right now, and so clear is not a good look! lol!
Holo Taco!! Two of my TH-cam peeps on the same video!
I want to order some Holo Taco polish, too! I do have their Top Coat. It's good stuff.
Do you blow on your nails to help them dry? Does that really make them dry faster?
No. I never do. : )
Sometimes, I do the cold water trick.
Cheers! 😊
Cheers indeed! And isn't the Salon Life a great channel? I love, love the info Anna shares!
I’m sooooo looking forward to do my nails again, when I change my job. Now I’m working in a hospital, and even as an admnistration help we are not allowed to have nailpolish 🙄🤮
Totally makes sense!
I feel like suddenly your hair got super long. Is it just me? Looks awesome!
Edit: also I LOVE that seafoam green!
It IS long all of a sudden! lol
OMG- They are pretty- I am more tools than jewels. Thanks though!
Seriously!!!?? New Pinterest file: CZ takes all my $$!! I am SO hard on my hands, but, you wore me down! I just ordered from O&J. You're welcome.
Oh enjoy! And let me know how it goes!!! Be patient… go slow and the prep is important!
I feel guilty in that I just clip my nails. That explains why my hands are so bad.
Hey, clipping is good! And even just adding a regular hand cream into the mix is a good way to go. Heck, I love Aveeno from Target too!
loved it!
