The man who you see in the city suddenly sees time counting down above people's heads, (the symbolism of realizing mortality and that everyone is doomed to death in this world.) The man can't see a timer above his own head, but he saves someone at the end of the video, (this seems to symbolize the idea of Christians witnessing and others being spiritually saved.) He notices before this moment a woman, who is very content with herself, and happens to be pregnant. He realizes that inside of her is a timer counting UP, not down. (This represents that a living being is weaved and developed in her womb) MICHAEL, THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO. This has long been one of my favorite songs from them, and for so many years I couldn't shake the feeling that this was a religious track. I think many people miss out on Christian or Spiritual symbols in music especially because many of us only associate those themes to worship music, but these are not exclusive only to one genre. Pay attention to those lyrics, folks. You'd be surprised where you'll find things like this.

AWESOME. I'll hop in the Nickelback time machine, why not- I remember 1st hearing "How you remind me" and I was like: "huh. Not bad." It was actually "Too bad" that I thought was awesome. It had a sound of "realness" to it. People hated on Nickelback but nobody REALLY sounded like them in the early 200s. Whats crazy is if you listen to "Silver side up" its freakishly relevant to TODAY.
Nickelback was my entire childhood, along with so many of us. There are so many good memories attached to quite a few of their songs. I now live a couple of hours away from their hometown here in Alberta and listen to them often in my truck. I'm a proud Nickelback fan! 🎧
Michael, I am and avid follower and fan and I just had to comment on how wonderfully entertaining this 'episode' was. Love your take on 'reaction' videos and truly hope that you will do more! Great stuff! BTW.. this Nickleback song is one of their finest!
Love the analysis here, Michael, especially as a huge Nickelback fan! If you’re ever interested in doing another of their tracks, I’d think you’d have a lot to say about “Throw Yourself Away”, if you don’t mind a bit of profanity. It’s a pretty heavy song detailing the infamous “Prom Mom” incident of 1997. The song is overall a pretty clear condemnation of the incident and infanticide as a whole, so I think it’d be a *very* interesting to hear your perspective on it and how it’s words connect to modern society’s tolerance of abortion
I know Michael would hate the sound of the music, but I'd be curious to get his take on Mourning Hymn by Chelsea Grin. It's about the singer coming to terms with an abortion and realizing he'll never meet his child. The band isn't conservative, but they've held common sense opinions that are especially rare in the metal scene. They refused to play in venues that required proof of vaccination
I don't care what anyone says I LOVE NICKELBACK.. My teenagers & I were just jamming out to them the other day & saying how awesome they are... I Think they're God Loving Patriots who didn't sell their Souls to the Satanic Music Business.... There's a reason they are being talked about & in the spot light again... They're coming back!! I genuinely don't know why people hate Nickelback. They are an amazing band. Their lyrics hit deep. My favorite band of all time. Hands down. And I thank my mum for introducing me to them
My wife loves them. I have taken her to 11 shows so far. And according to her (bc I trust her on this) they are back. Huge tiktok meme stuff and latest album.
I honestly love nickelback, and have been a fan ever since i was teenager. I don't understand how people can hate on their songs and call them "cringe", while they listen to these new rap songs, that anybody can barely even understand. The lyrics on top of that, is in (my opinion) the most brain-dead words that could ever be bestowed on the human eye. How can you tell me, that a song that's trying to instill the philosophy of "Friedrich Nietzsche", telling you that you should treasure your life, treat yourself well, do good deeds, as you do not have an unlimited amount of time to live on this earth, somehow better than some random dude, rapping about dr*gs, money, and "b*tch*s" ???
Nickelback has songs like that, too: Animals, Shakin’ Hands, Something in Your Mouth, S.E.X, Figured You Out, and others. I broadly enjoy their music, but they have some songs that I avoid.
When this song came out, I was getting over my first real love breaking up with me, a lifetime of maternal emotional abuse coming to a head, drowning it all in a party party party social life. The way this song made me feel was pretty damn intense all things considered. I wrote the most beautiful, personal piece of poetry listening to this song. The paper has tear stains on it. What a dark place that was.
Nickelback is my guilty pleasure band. I loved them in high school and played their album All the Right Reasons almost nonstop when it came out. I sort of understand why their hated, but i still like them.
To me the song and vid is about Nickelback reaching out, sometimes seemingly without response or answer, wanting that answer to individual expression. This was a thoughtful review from Mr. Knowles. I do love this group, they really have a good artistic flow. Thanks, Michael!
Such an interesting comment section. Nickleback are christian rock apparently. And so's Creed. And that's why they're both hated. Because christian rock is mercilessly hated on. The problem being, neither band is christian
I remember a hermit woman who once said God told her something like "I am so desperate to share my heart with the lost world that I inspire secular muscians to write songs that were written in Heaven." I believe it because there are several songs (like this one) that don't seem to realize how much they're describing God and the cries of the heart concerning God. 3 examples off the top of my head are "Every Breath You Take" by Sting which expresses God's heavy heart for lost and hurting souls that He loves but they don't know Him or even consider approaching Him for help, "Because You Loved Me" by Celine Dion which is 100% a worship song because no one else fits the wording but God concerning who the song is praising, and "Stand By Me" by Ben E King which sings of sticking close to God and not worrying during dark, troubling times.
I'm really surprised that he didn't comment on the fact that the unborn child has also has a clock, meaning it's as much a life as any other human being.
Considering no one liked them. I remember their songs played endlessly on radio and concerts was always maxed out. My girlfriend back then loved them. So I was forced to listen to them. And I actually don't mind them. And I'm a metal head. And still am at age 47 I do like the cover of , Metallica's sad bad true. They rocked it.

I LOVE NICKLEBACK!
AWESOME. I'll hop in the Nickelback time machine, why not-
I remember 1st hearing "How you remind me" and I was like: "huh. Not bad."
It was actually "Too bad" that I thought was awesome. It had a sound of "realness" to it.
People hated on Nickelback but nobody REALLY sounded like them in the early 200s. Whats
crazy is if you listen to "Silver side up" its freakishly relevant to TODAY.
I second this.
I loved their music.
Oh And I still LOVE Creed too so yeah!!! 😜
I like them too. Though... wait till someone send Michal one of their other songs like Rockstar or SEX, or Animals. He probably aint gonna be too fond of those 😂
I love Nickelback! ❤
I really love the song interpretation videos.
Since you guys asked, here are a list of diverse songs I wish Mike could interpret one of:
Atmosphere - The waitress
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Californication
3 Doors Down - Kryptonite
Foster the People - Pumped up kicks
Poets of the Fall - Carnival of Rust
Common Market - Winter Takes it All
Arch Enemy - The Eagle Flies Alone
Light the Torch - The Safety of Disbelief
Killswitch Engage - I am broken too
Trivium - Until the world goes cold
You are a true person of culture
I just heard Safety of Disbelief for the first time a few weeks ago, I second that one
Next one to review: Jesus He Knows Me by Genesis feat Phil Collins (or remake by Ghost)
I genuinely don't know why people hate Nickelback. They are an amazing band. Their lyrics hit deep. My favorite band of all time. Hands down. And I thank my mum for introducing me to them
I feel like this is an omage to Death Note, with the clocks above one's head clicking down.
Love Nickelback and I checked them off my bucket list when I saw them live this past summer
I have always loved this song !!!
😂😂 I graduated in 2006. I didn’t even know they were hated until about 2013. I love that it’s slowly coming out that our age group never hated them.
I really liked this daily wire Michael! 🔥🕊️
My wife loves them. I have taken her to 11 shows so far. And according to her (bc I trust her on this) they are back. Huge tiktok meme stuff and latest album.
5:52 My guess is, this right here is the reason for the hate. Dare to get Jesusy in slightest bit and prepare to be crucified all over again.
Editors are just GOATd 😂
Video just started and they didn't disappoint
They got their name after so many people left their concerts saying, "That show sucked...I want my nickel back."
😂😂😂😂
I can't stand them. Every song sounds the same.
@@jillybean4480AMEN, Nickelback sucks👎
@@jillybean4480that's a lot of bands to be fair. But they do have some good songs
This is a really good song, but the "drug dealer on speed dial" lyric from a different song was what killed their band.
Great band!
I don’t care, I’ve always loved Nickleback and always will.
Most people: Nickelback sucks
Most people when photograph comes on the radio: look at this photograph, every time I do it makes me laugh.
😂
To me the song and vid is about Nickelback reaching out, sometimes seemingly without response or answer, wanting that answer to individual expression. This was a thoughtful review from Mr. Knowles. I do love this group, they really have a good artistic flow. Thanks, Michael!
Ive always loved nickelback. I never understood why they got so much hate. They were a rock band just like any other rock band.
“Lullaby” is another really good one from Nickelback with a powerful message. 🙌
I liked their popular radio songs. He has a good voice.
I really enjoy watching Michael review music videos. Please keep doing older ones, too!!
I'd love if Michael would review Mozart's requiem 😂
11th best selling band of all time. A GREAT band!!
Especially like the scene with the pregnant woman
Beautiful, life affirming scene
Nickleback's music is much better than any of the rap / hip-hop music out there.
I'm a Canadian and we make fun of Nickelback a lot but they aren't that bad.
Michael Knowles should review “All Hail” by Devil Makes Three!
This song does something deep. Always loved it
They are from Alberta, loud and proud my man!
I like this song a lot
This song is one of my favorites. And I really love the video
Shinedown by Godsmackl!
More Nickelback!!!!
Literally my favorite band, 1 of 3 CDs I had in my Camry for like 5 years.
They are one of the best out there. 💯
I'm really surprised that he didn't comment on the fact that the unborn child has also has a clock, meaning it's as much a life as any other human being.
I have been to 3 of their concerts and was Blown Away by the Band and their music, Phenomenal 💥⚡💫💜
Considering no one liked them. I remember their songs played endlessly on radio and concerts was always maxed out.
My girlfriend back then loved them.
So I was forced to listen to them. And I actually don't mind them.
And I'm a metal head. And still am at age 47
I do like the cover of , Metallica's sad bad true. They rocked it.
Not only is this Nickelback's best song but it's one of the very best songs I've ever heard and the video is excellent.
I like their music
If they hate you just remember they hated Nickelback first.
As an Albertan i once again for Alberta unleashing this band on the world.
this is literally my favorite song from them
lol same
Nickelback is my 2nd favorite band of all time! Hinder is my #1
One of my favorite Nickelback songs. I love a lot of their music.
Nickelback are a proper, modern rockband. People say they hate them, but in reality, they've got some of the most streamed and watched songs/videos on Spotify and TH-cam respectively. They are great.
