I remember watching this back when it came out and then not long after (by complete coincidence) I happened to read George Patton's memoirs, 'War as I knew it". The book is made up mostly of passages from Patton's diary essentially and my mind read the words in George C. Scott's voice lol. It brought that back to me seeing this here on TH-cam today :)
I was once a driver of a 901A1 and I will tell you that changing the engine is NOT easy OR fast. 1987-1989, E/3/7, 24 ID. The vehicles were run-down, couldn't get parts, seals in the TC hatch didn't seal and when it rained, the water got into the control boxes for the turret and shorted them out. If you were the driver and didn't have a backrest, then you were in for quite a bit of pain on long marches. Most didn't have heaters and, SURPRISE!!, these things are awful to be in when it's cold outside and you will freeze.
Informative documentary coverage video about mechanized forces which upgraded gradually during WW1 & WW2.. While the US army exploited US technology, the financial capabilities of the USA 🇺🇸 for adopting the most successfully designed armor, firepowers vehicles , and features for battle circumstances .(happy new)....Mike Guardia channel always introduces excellent documentaries
A series of German defenders were asked what their first thought was when they seen the forces landing at Normandy. They independently said, "where are their horses"? It really was not until late in WWII before any military force appeared that was horse free.
It's a shame that this video talked about a variety of nations and then focused entirely on the US. I get that due to the era the video was produced in that they wouldn't have done this, but to not mention the BMP-1 as the grandfather of the modern IFV and how its debut revolutionized mechanized infantry is a bit of a letdown.

Me too...Patton's real voice was feminine and high.
Another excellent upload from an excellent series. Thank you.
Love the parts on maintenance, don't often see that aspect.
Thanks for sharing these!
Boy that intro was straight out of the eighties.

Early in the war France and Britain actually had the the more powerful tank that no German tank could defeat like the char b1 and Matilda II tank
The Char B1 was a hopelessly obsolete design by 1940.

Strange and great to see General George C Scott (aka Patton) host this …. He is missing a helmet as host.

Sadly has to be U.S. focussed because that's the biggest audience.
Because every other country sucks.
