Okay, so we couldn't stop laughing as Linda was sliding down the rocks while sitting in the creek. That was hilarious!!!! I'm glad you didn't cut that scene out.
Nevada has some wonderful hidden gems! Personally, I love the high dessert towns like Battle Mountain, Austin, Elko, Ely... Thanks for this tour, I now have one more town to visit there! The town is adorable!
Look into an leaf blower that takes the same batteries as your power tools. It comes in handy for blowing dust out and off when travelling. Like your bike, the back of the car, trailer floor etc.
My father drove a 40 foot motorhome and pulled a jeep. He could get that rig into places you would not believe. This road would be a walk in the park for him.
That was some beautiful country my friend. How often does the grass catch on fire. It’s good people who stand their ground. My friend and I had started up a Jeep trail in the mountains and we were going over big rocks and driving the Jeep up on its side to get around things. We got about a mile up that trail and there set a cutlass supreme Oldsmobile at a camp site and it didn’t have a scratch on it. How in the world he got up there is still a mystery to me. My friend didn’t brag about his Jeep being to go anywhere after seeing that car. Great video my friend and man, that pie looked larrupin good.
I have a friend in Las Vegas who's parents who were born an raised in Nv, decided to retire in Jarbridge an they did, happy as clams. The son, not so much, as his parents are now maybe 12 hrs away from Vegas now, long road to Jarbridge, but its really nice there, as you found out. Thx for the vid
Really enjoyed the video Rick ,when I think of that area it reminds me of the last true outlaw 'Claude Dallas' I believe his episode took place just west of that area. Safe Travels
Howdy Travelers. This is one Groovy little Gem of a hideout town, we are happy you found it. Too bad it's tucked away and not easy to get there but I like the place. It has a Vib of it's own. After another heat wave we finally got a reprieve and Fall is in the air & the best time for Desert Trekking. Cool nights and pleasent day Temps. Thanks for another soothing video of a nice relaxed time along with your great Narration. The Stream/Creek, scene was best. Keeps me thinking how the simple joys are always the ones we remember. Don't Stop Y'all, just Keep on Driving, Drive On. 👋
Thanks, Vencenzo. There's lot of camping in that area if you ever get out that way. The creek was great, not too cold, great for soaking and playing in.
We went thru NV from Windover to Denio, we were coming from Dinasaur Monument, across UT, past Salt Lake Flats into Nevada...we woke up to frost in the trailer, mid October, in Nevada!!!!
Another great video, thanks Rick and Linda. I drive up 93 several times a year on my way to Bozeman. Now I know there is good free camping nearby. No more Twin Falls Walmart overnights!
@@gonagain I was very fortunate to live there but had to move so now I go back several times a year to visit. It’s such a beautiful area, especially along the Gallatin river.
Trailer brakes really help. I found my utility trailer was easier to control with the brakes. My teardrop is so light I don't really need them but I'm glad it has them. Got more controller than I need but it works okay.
Good morning guys. We thought the river might carry Linda away😳. Another great video with two great people. We are pining for the West but the gas prices are making long trips a luxury. Thanks so much for taking us along with you!!
Hi you guys, I find myself looking at every bolt, nook, and cranny on your camper. I fashioned my after yours a little. You gave me so many good ideas. Love your to go places too. (Old guy from Arkansas)🇺🇸
That little town is rich with local history ! Ive never been there but it looks pretty neat ! Everyone says the food is great at the Cafe and well worth the stop ! Reader boards I got corrected on , the FS said they are story boards , some a person might want to bring a lunch while reading ! Cool trip out in the middle of nowhere!
As usual, I’m jealous. Watching your adventures together makes me smile. Working together as a team and not just growing older while sitting in front of the TV. Enjoying life while you still can and looking forward, anticipating what lies ahead just around the next bend in the road.
Thank you for your kind words, Keith. We've always tried to see what around the next bend of the road or trail or the next pass. Thank you for watching our videos, we appreciate it very much.
Hi Rick & Linda, I’ve noticed that y’all have had some issues with the GMC. Just a quick fyi. I’m building out a 7x14x6.5. I bought a 2022 Nissan Pro-4X. It pulls it very well. If y’all ever consider a change, This truck with a topper would probably be ideal. Y’all are great be safe.
Nice video guys, I love out of the way little towns and canyons like that. I sure hope that motorhome driver knows how to use his gears and drive in the mountains. He heats up his brakes and he's gonna be in serious trouble. JT
I have been to that area! My brother lives in Elko, works at one of the gold mines in the area. When i retired two years ago i bought a small camper and drove to his small town and spent a week outside town. It gets cold a windy there. I never knew about Jarbidge but next time i am visiting him i want to drive that road and get some pie......Thanks for anther entertaining trip.
Thanks. Interesting little town. I have driven as much as 250 miles of gravel in our motor home in a day. Not sure I would do it again. We still find dust from that road, and it was in 2018.That was in Labrador from Happy Valley/Goose Bay to the ferry at Banc Sablon, QE. The final 60 miles were paved. Earlier in that trip we climbed an 18% grade at a dam in QE. Fun times.
Another great video. Getting off the beaten path can lead to great discovery’s. Like the cafe. My favorite pies are anything berry and apple. Thanks again.
You actually found the best campsite in that valley! I stay there quite often. Not too far away from the campsite is a trail that will take you to some indian petroglyphs and old mining sites/mines
Rick and Linda, you know you have us hooked when we continue to watch an almost 30 minute video of yours' that is mainly driving on a dirt road. The food you had in the Outdoor Inn in that little town looked excellent even for a burger and fries. The pie looked delicious as it stimulated the taste buds. I thought the footage of the sitting in the creek was priceless with the laughter, the little shrieks brought on by the cold water and the sight of a good cigar. Rick, one question. Where did you get the hat? I like the ventilation it provides and it looks cool. You have to have that "cool guy" look when out on adventures. Keep up the great videos and be careful. Also, it was good to see that motorhome kept on trucking by after you set up camp.
About 5 years ago a couple from Oregon or Washington drove out that road to the west just before the last snow fall.. after several weeks enquiries were sent out by relatives. They found the motor home, and one of the couple dead.. the other started back to town and was never found.
It's sad that incidents like that happen but it does. It reminds everyone to always be aware of the weather and road conditions when driving anywhere, no matter the time of the year.
Up ahead motorhome saying, “I think I can, I think I can.” Just like Tommy the Train storybook. 🚂 I can’t help but wonder if the rv driver really knew what to expect or got caught up with nowhere to turn around? I appreciated the clear shot of Jarbridge’s storyboard as I was able to take a screenshot and enlarge so as to read a bit of local history. Your initial riverside campsite was great affording a wonderful cooling off spot in the water which y’all appeared to thoroughly enjoy.
I think they had a forest fire in 1989 in that area. If I remember right we went through there right after the fire. The road was a little tore up and my Blazer spun all the way up the hill. We marked a map with our route and where we stayed but I cannot find the old map any more and the memory is not always 100% on the exact route. Pretty area, stay safe and healthy!!
Planning to see Jarbidge soon. I live in Twin falls and drive past Rogerson frequently taking my wife to Jackspot. Great to watch your video to see what the road conditions look like.
So, you were a little worried about that dam road in the beginning? 🤪🤪. At least there weren’t any dam failures or dam accidents. 😀😀. I am a big fan of brakes on trailers. I think you will like the upgrade.
Our family used to go up to wild horse reservoir for summer vacations to fish . Last time there was 1972 and dad took us all to jarbidge. We came up from the south all dirt road and much worse then you see here.

Ok I have really enjoyed your partnership exploring the outdoors, you’re a beautiful couple. Please tell me how you managed to run out of fuel and how you got going again!??
We didn't run out but got really low on fuel which can happen easily in Nevada. We made it into Elko and filled at the first gas station we came across. In NV, you have to fill up whenever you can. Thank you for watching, Rachel.
Live next door to Nevada in Utah. Have driven it east to west and north to south. Haven't seen anything that made me ever want to go back. Maybe I'll give it another look someday😎
It's a place where you really need to take those side roads across the desert to get into the mountains. All those ranges that you see are beautiful when you get into them.

The best way from the south is to take higway 225 which goes from Elko to Owyhee, there is a road off that that goes to jarbidge, still dirt but a lot less dirt road. it is going to be my next trip. I have atv'd the bruneau river just below there never got to Jarbidge.
Yes, you can get to Jarbidge from the West. All the roads into Jarbidge are really good roads no problem driving them unless it is in the depths of winter when things could be a bit icy.

A cigar and a swim - that's the BEST! Well, the real best is the two of you laughing together.
That was different for us, but it was hot!
Okay, so we couldn't stop laughing as Linda was sliding down the rocks while sitting in the creek. That was hilarious!!!! I'm glad you didn't cut that scene out.
It sure was more fun than I expected.

We know how to have fun! Haha.

I agree! Riverside camping is always a plus. Usually more shade and cooler, especially after a dip in the cold water.
Great video. Such a cool remote town
Thanks for watching!
What a cool little town! Thanks for taking us along. And the quest for pie continues!
The quest for pie never ends, lol.
Thanks for the ride it was 👍👍, it doesn’t get much better pretty country and free camping plus pie that’s what I would call a good day. 🥧👍👍
Pie makes any day a great day!

great video, rick...thanks for showing it to me...

I enjoyed this episode of camped in the Jarbidge, NV Canyon. Godspeed and safe Shemitah.

What a great place to retire! But yes, far from anywhere. Thanks for watching our videos, William, appreciate it very much.
We've been there, Stay at the Cafe
For breakfast..it's good.. The yellow building is a food store..and more.
One of your best travel videos. Really neat and interesting Canyon. certainly off the beaten path. Fun creek scene, you two. Ha!

He crazy taking a large motor home there ,that’s why I love small camper trailers like cargo trailers !

I think I could happily live there.
Love that area, great place to hunt if you can get it. Great video again guys.

You can access Jarbidge, NV from the west also from Wildhorse Reservoir. The road is all gravel, and can be rough in spots, about 50 miles.

DIDN'T JARBRIDGE HAVE A GAS STATION ? I KNOW VEIHICLE USE MORE GAS AT SLOW RUNNING HOPE YOU GET SOME GAS TO FINISH YOUR TRIP !...
Absolutely wonderful video and I have a new place on my bucket list Be safe and Godspeed
Thanks, John!
Good video, electric brakes make all the difference, I bought them as a kit and were easy to install, for my firewood trailer.
Another great video Rick!! Exciting and such beautiful vistas. And God Bless you and Linda for giving Mark (Hobo Shoestring) some assistance. He appreciates it very much. You and Linda are the absolute BEST !!!! Blessing from Oklahoma CIty.
Thank you, Santa! Mark is a great guy, we're always glad to help a friend.
Yeah that is a great area. We were there last December in our Sprinter and actually caught 55* days. Stayed just past Murphy Hot Springs, looks like where you stayed as well. It is a cool canyon once you make the turn past the confluence. That is some desolate country!
I hiked part of the Idaho Centennial Trail that goes through Idaho from NV border to Canada - and started just below Murphy Hot Springs there. It was April and I still got caught in a couple of ice storms 😎👍🏼
You're quite the adventurer! Thank you for watching our video.
The community of Basque sheep hearders in that part of Nv. They have a big festival in Elko around June
made the same drive myself lot's of beautiful scenery thanks for sharing.
You need to keep a gold panning pan in your trailer just for fun.
Hmmm...we have a couple of those, somewhere...
Great video...water looked cold in that creek...beautiful high desert country.
It was actually not bad or I wouldn't have gotten in it. I'm a real wuss when it comes to cold water!
I hate driving across that dam!
Thanks for showing how much fun Jarbidge is.
I think the most worthwhile destinations are on dirt roads.
We agree!
nice job thank you ALL stay safe

the drive south from Jarbidge to Elko s beautiful in Fall when the leaves are golden if you come out using the high road.
I'll bet! That would be incredible.

Wow, thanks!
I was there about five months ago. Great place! Definitely out of the way, but worth it if you got the time. I just ordered my Starlink the other day.
Ours is working just great and it is especially nice when we're out in the remote places.
