My two recommendations for food in nearby Tarrytown (about 15 min walking distance away from these sites): 1. Coffee Lab Roasters (amazing coffee and pastries/cookies, try their Black & White Cookie): 7 Main St, Tarrytown, NY 10591 2. The Taco Project (one of the best burritos I’ve ever had, get it with the mango salsa added): 18 Main St, Tarrytown, NY 10591 There’s many other food options I didn’t get to try and a farmer’s market too!
Just became an instant subscriber! I loved this video and it makes me want to take a day trip there real soon! Thanks and I look forward to binge watching your other videos!
I truly enjoyed your video! I don’t live far from Sleepy Hollow and have loved the story since I saw the Disney Version in 1st grade back in the last 70s. You did an excellent job with this. We went last year but didn’t fully explore the cemetery bc my wife had a foot operation. In regard to that man I wouldn’t worry about him. He should come back after Covid when they actually party on the grounds selling hot dogs and beer right on top of tombstones. I guess he would really have a shits fit then!!! Lol! Great job again!
Ariel you do such a fantastic job, I found you through AK videos and i am playing catch up on your uploads! What better way to see the greatest city in the world...John
Nice of you to show off the headstones of Abraham Martling (inspiration of Abraham "Brom Bones" Van Brunt), the ladies Van Tassel (namely, Catrieina Ecker Van Tassel & Eleanor Van Tassel-Brush, whom the literary Katrina Van Tassel was based upon) & the unmarked plot on the hillside knoll overlooking the Old Dutch Burying Ground where the actual Headless Horseman was physically buried (Hessians referred to troops from Hesse, Germany that were employed to the Redcoats in service to the British crown, but the dominant resident specter in question was one among their ranks who lost his head when it was blown clean off his shoulders courtesy of the errant firing of a stray cannonball at the Battle of White Plains), with genuine Van Tassel family ancestor Elizabeth Van Tassel using her wealthy connections to see the decapitated uniform be given a proper Christian burial and granted a place of honor, because according to historical record documented for the Sleepy Hollow Bicentennial, the Hessian saved her infant child's life during a raid before getting beheaded, so it stands to reason that the Van Tassels had a link to the Headless Horseman (his real name being Heinrich Range, according to Chris Rondina, who went to Germany & asked native Hessians about his death during the Revolutionary War & is aiming to have America's first renowned ghoul receive a legitimate grave marker) because of this & literary Ichabod Crane purportedly getting "spirited away" by the Headless Horseman basically served as a kind-of justified karma as a consequence of his gold-digging womanizing, which was concealed beneath his well--educated, debonair yet devil-may-care continence.
Very interesting video and I look forward to the DC series. There's another movie about this I remember seeing in high school English class titled "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" from about 1980. Jeff Goldblum played Ichabod Crane and NFL Hall of Fame linebacker Dick Butkus played Brom Bones.
@@UrbanistExploringCities thank you :) i wanted to also thank you for the video link you had sent me to watch about tin pan alley. i found it very interesting and the extra story on mr tesla. . would you consider going back there for another visit sometime?
Enjoyed the tour. Just wanted to give some friendly corrections to your commentary. Disney’s version was released in 1949. Tim Burton’s version was filmed in England. They wanted to film there, but the atmosphere was not right. The silent version was filmed there.
Awesome tour! I saw some of the live, sorry people have to nitpick at every little thing, just enjoy the vlogs! I understand some locals being sensitive to certain things like I was with some of the Salem stuff but overall just enjoy it! You definitely do your research. Such interesting history and can't believe Sleepy Hollow is only a 3 hour drive from me! You are a great tour guide. I definitely remember Cotton Mather from your Salem video! Anyone remember the Wishbone episode of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow? Watch it every year lol. It looks like a cool little village. Also the guy at 1:12 was funny lol.
Verry interesting video. I am Dutch. Not reformd, but katholiek. I am surprised that the British erected a Dutch church. And one question , Yankee is that not a Dutch names Jan Kees. Thats whst i has heard. But go on , making interesting videos.

Thank you for the clarifications 🙏 I’m not surprised Tim Burton filmed in England, it has a better spooky vibe. I’m glad you enjoyed the tour!
