The orchestration of Schumann _really_ shines in the concerti. The wind writing here is phenomenal.

Look! The soloist and conductor gave the honor for orchestra solist, but the camera man was shamed to show the orchestra solo cello during the 2nd part. Soltani played very nice, but the second part can`t be like written, without wonderful orchestra cello player. bravi!

The camera work is fascinating in that we often see the exact cello bow to the string in several passages. I imagine that this would be very useful to cello players. But it was also useful to me as a mere viewer. I loved it. Thanks so very much. A gorgeous tribute to Schumann by Soltani & Eschenbach.

From 30 years ago, as a painting and an amateur string student specially the 8 year of my university in Isfahan, living in 400 year old houses with murmurs silence of strange happenings of the history just in my backyard, until about a few years ago , I used to listen to Shcuman’s melancholic cello concerto, very difficult to play, without knowing the tragedy of his creeping brain illness, and it’s crippling emotional effects of so many ups and downs of behaviour and inner pains.
Kian is a blessed musician 🙂
