  • In this video I will go through the basic steps and movements of the sport Race Walking.
    A full beginners tutorial and also tips and tricks for experience athletes on how to improve their technique.
    The aim with this video is for a beginner to be able to perform the Race Walk motion after watching. To understand the rules and to get basic knowledge of the sport.
    My name is Perseus Karlström and I'm a multiple world medalist and world champion in Race Walking. My aim with this channel is to spread knowledge about the sport of Race Walking and to give the viewers an insight of how it is to be a professional athlete and specifically Race Walker.

    He is amazing. Racewalking is a great way to exercise outdoors and not get as beat up as when running. I ran for 49 years and wore out the cartilage in my right hip. I couldn't run any longer, but when the gym shut down during Covid, all I could do is walk. I got faster and faster, attended a racewalking clinic, and this is what I do now.
    You get 1/3 of the musculoskeletal shock in racewalking versus running. It's far more difficult than running. I'm a good minute per mile faster when my technique is good than when it isn't.
    My form is not bad, but someone who can racewalk really fast is truly an amazing athlete. If you're a racewalker, you'll probably be the only one in your neighborhood. You get noticed; in a good way.

    I've never seriously considered race walking before watching your videos. Thanks for sharing these! RW would be a great addition to my cardio routine.

      Yes, it's called the straight leg rule. My mistake thinking too much in Swedish 😄
