Fun fact: I went from Vienna to Bratislava for not even thirty minutes. Someone in my family dances in Bratislava and we are from Vienna and this person had left his dancing shoes in Vienna, so I had to bring it to him.
👋 Well you have at least 1 slovakian fan :) The restaurant you visited is not a typical tourist trap, food is pretty solid, but the prices are indeed tourists :) that's why nobody local was there. But there are worse traps that you could end in just a few minutes walk from that place. So you have been lucky!
Hi, chance upon your lovely video while searching for day trips from Vienna. May I know all those places in your video are they walkable from the train station? Would like to do a wandering tour like u guys 😊
I know it’s pedantic but I’m pretty sure the Vatican City (it’s own country) being inside Rome (the capital of Italy) is closer. Plus Brazzaville and Kinshasa.
I'm doing the train from Vienna to Bratislava in a few days and I wanted to know if they checked your passports? And I have a standard ticket meaning that I can hop on any train and I wanted to know what if that train is full, can I still get on even with my ticket?
I'm planning my trips around europe, and Bratislava seems pretty below average in terms of museums/castles/churches/history... but the nightlife is good (and cheap).
It’s not as different as you think. Bratislava used to be called Pressburg and was mostly German speaking until the WW1. It was basically a Vienna’s suburb within the Habsburg empire.
More exactly, it belonged to the Apostolic Kingdom of Hungary (which in turn did not belong to the Habsburgs until the 17th. century) from 1000 till 1920. A dozen Hungarian kings were crowned in Pressburg (or Pozsony in Hungarian), which served as temporary capital while central Hungary was occupied by the Turks. Having said that, there used to be a sizeable German population (on top of the Hungarian one) in Pozsony/Pressburg until 1920. It was largely a trilingual city until just one century ago. All of this is now gone and the city has become sadly and boringly monocultural - like much of Central Europe.
Considering doing Bratislava/Vienna for a few days next month, any other suggestions for 2 Cities/countries really close to eachother where you can feasibly visit 2 countries in 3 or 4 days?
Hello! :) Bratislava/Vienna is a great option. Also you can look into Belgium/Netherlands, we did those two within a week about 4 years ago and enjoyed it! Also Austria/Switzerland/Germany/Liechtenstein
If you take a tram you have to validate the ticket within 50 seconds onboard or they give you an 80 euro fine. They wait for tourist to make the mistake of coming to Slovakia.
@@JourneywithJenandDrew just like couple hours then straight to budapest. I'm talking about the immigration, will it become a problem for crossing three countries in less than a day. 😅 I'm from Asia so I'm a bit clueless. Thank you for answering. 🙏🤗😊
The two closest capitals in the world? I'm afraid you haven't checked properly. On top of the list is the duo Kinshasa-Brazzaville, on either side of the Congo River, and you could even argue that it's actually the Vatican City and Rome, since there's zero distance between them 🙂 As far as I know, Vienna-Pressburg come in 3rd place.
@@vladimircuchta7427 What??! There are two Congos: the République du Congo, with Brazzaville as its capital, and the République démocratique du Congo, with Kinshasa as its capital. It's two completely different States. You just displayed your utter ignorance.

@@vladimircuchta7427 Not only is Yagi right but you do not reply anything about the fact that Brazzaville and Kinshasa are *not* in the same country. You're flat wrong on that too but you change your tune and start talking about something else (distance) as a distraction.
Thanks to videos like this one, Bratislava is not overrun by tourists and can continue to be the city for the locals. 🎉 You chose to visit in January and then complained about the weather 🤷🏼♀️ No knowledge of the town, not getting a tour guide... just clueless wandering around.
