    Here are a couple of tips that make assembly slightly easier th-cam.com/users/postUgkxCx5fHawkK9OoV-ojFrY8JLnZrFwAmvUt . 1) One person can assemble, but if you have a buddy to help, it will make it go faster - especially steps 1-3 and 8 (the legs aren't heavy but can be difficult to hold while screwing things in). Step 8, 1st part will take some time unless you have two more hands OR are really lucky. 2) Use a socket wrench! 3) Step 7, 3rd part - the flame carry over tube has an open side, MAKE SURE THE OPEN SIDE IS FACING THE FRONT. If it's facing the back, the tube won't work. 4) Step 10, 3rd part - if you don't have small hands (I don't, they're gigantic) getting the nut on is really difficult (but not impossible). It took me about 4 hours to assemble, but I took a "union break" every 60-90 minutes and ate a quick lunch. Also, I'm really OCD so I took my time, looked at the instructions carefully, and cleaned up as I went.

    Hey, thanks so much for this video. I did the corn in the husk tonight and my wife loved it for a couple reasons. Didn’t have to use the stove to boil the corn which would heat up the house. The mess stayed outside. Cooked it for 20 minutes at 500 degrees as you instructed and the corn was amazing!! Thanks again.

    Very clear, succinct explanations. No wasted words and time. Yep, we are from outside of the usa as well. It's a warm balmy summers evening, January 2024 here in NZ. The corn is in the Weber as I type this comment. Soaked in water and now on the grill along with some sausage's and potatoes. I'm salivating already. Can't wait to eat. I'll try the 2 other methods next time.

    Thank you for the informative video. You can also try a mix between in the husk and grilling directly. I like to grill in the husk, pull the leaves back, roll in butter, and place directly on the grill for a few minutes to add more char. add salt and use the leaves and husk as your handle to eat.

    I wrap it in foil, then make a tray out of foil and but butter in it. Roll the corn in the butter, then place directly on grill. Then back in the butter. It chars, and soakes up butter like a sponge.

    Thank you for sharing. Just in the event anyone doesn't have a grill or just don't want to cook corn on the grill, it can be cooked in the microwave.
    For easy clean up I put the corn on a microwaveable plate, 2 or three at a time. Leave the husks on, cook 3 , turn corn, cook another 3 mins.
    Remove, and enjoy 😋
    If you so desire, add butter or seasonings after the husk is removed

I've also seen people pull back the husk and remove the silk before grilling. my favorite way of doing corn in the husk is a way I saw on BBQ University with Steven Richlen where he puts them right on the hot coals. you must use natural lump charcoal because it doesn’t have any chemical additives like briquets have to hold them together. and you don’t have too soak the ears or cut anything off the ears just sit them on the hot coals and turn them every minute or two until the husks are completely burned off then make sure no hot coals are stuck on the cobs when you take them off the grill and put them on a plate. if any ashes are on the cobs just brush them off. he also does what he calls caveman Ribeye steaks in the coals he uses steaks cut 2” thick they get charred on the outside and medium rare on the inside

  • @tomwolfe9331

    Whenever I do the foil method I boil the corn, Slightly blanching 3 to 5 minutes, let it drain slather the top with butter and let it melt, garlic butter store-bought or homemade really makes it pop. And if you’re herbalist nothing wrong with a little canna butter. Oh I remiss season your corn before you add the butter all sides. Wrap set Indirect heat turning every 15 minutes or so. Steaming hot and delicious.

    What was not mentioned in this video is that it's a bitch to shuck corn grilled in the husk. Pulling the husk off and removing the silk strands when the corn is hot off the grill can be difficult and painful if you don't have gloves made for that purpose. The alternative is to, before you grill the corn, peel down the husk enough to remove the silk and then roll the husk back up and tie at the top to keep corn protected. Then soak the corn, and then grill it. That way, when you pull the corn off the grill, the scorched husk easily comes off and you don't have to worry about the silk.

    Love a comparison, but seems like the naked corn should have been cooked for less time. Also would love to see how to shuck fiery hot corn. Is there a trick?

  • @TylerNally
    @TylerNally ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The only different way I'd do the tin foil wrapped corn would be to add a tablespoon of water to the tin foil wrapped goodness before grilling. If you add water, you have to pay attention to the wrapped direction 9f the foil. The reason being, if you rotate 8t the incorrect direction (with the wrapped layered direction) you can slowly empty water from your wrap. If you turn the wrap against the wrap, then your always pushing the water back to the ear where it'll steam.

      LOL yeah, it is a bit strange I know. It's just what I grew up with. That said, I am not opposed to seasonings. I did one that went in the other direction and had plenty of cream, butter, cheese, etc. Check out my elote video: th-cam.com/video/kFAR5SF7jJo/w-d-xo.html

    A lady that sells sweet corn said just put it on the grill and do not soak it in water or it loses the sweetness. I tried with out soaking in water . It is sweeter and tastier than soaking it .

    • @ChicagoGriller
      @ChicagoGriller  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I've grilled without soaking before as well. It does work, but you definitely end up with a lot of charred husks and silks in your grill vs all other methods. I'd have to compare the taste sometime though!

    I put the corn on the grill in the shuck after soaking it in water and taking it off the grill about every five minutes and dipping it in a pan of water to re-moisten it and then finish it off. Corn need steam to cook properly on a grill

    Steamed for 3 or 4 minutes in the microwave (shucked & put into a plastic bag for steaming as it cooks). It's fast, easy, & the kernels are perfect. No sense burning fuel & waiting for 20 minutes--unless you absolutely have to have a grilled flavor & texture (which I don't need).

      My other favorite way to enjoy corn is gas stovetop. I pour box of frozen corn into iron skillet w stick of butter once thawed out and water evaporates. Add butter salt, and slap lid over it til it's charred. Salt after is optional.

      My wife is a big fan of frozen corn just for the convenience of it. But we've not tried heating it with the method you just described. We'll give that a try!
