I was just thinking about trying grilling corn, turn on TH-cam and your video was in the suggestions. Damn, reading my mind or what?! Great video once again.
I've roasted many an ear of corn on the grill and in camp fires. I never soak mine in water or trim the ends. I do mine directly over the coals, and turn them when the shucks start turning burnt black and crumbly. Same in a camp fire, I rack some coals to the side of the fire and toss the ears in, and turn them the same as on the grill. Usually takes around 15 minutes for the corn to roast. Peel them back from the silk end and use that for a handle, rub it down with butter and salt, best corn ever.
Hello Carl. I think most folks do it just like you do. It is a less time consuming method. The one thing that puts me off on doing it like that are the little black flecks of burnt corn husks that get on the corn. This is something I came up with that avoids that. I also wanted to show a different way to dress the corn. Olive oil taste suprisingly good on corn, thats why I showed the recipe I did, otherwise I will use the same recipe with melted butter. I went out to play in my golf league this past Tuesday and I did my best to keep my eyes on the ball during my back swing and through my swing.. and I did see a difference in making contact with the ball.. Thanks for the tip!...still needs work! Thanks Carl, I always appreciate you watching.
@@Viewtoagrill Some of our folks around here have tried the recipe and we've been hearing that the sauce is completely off the chain! Put that in a bottle and sell it Flores! LOL!
This is an awesome corn video Johnny! From how to pick, to preparing, to grilling, to husking to over direct flame! Perfect corn on the cob right there! And corn season is just starting up here so we will be making plenty of it! Perfect timing!👍👊
Love all your videos! Very straightforward and practical. Wonder how the corn would be if after you basted it you gave it another couple of minutes on the grill? I might have to try it both ways.
What a great way to prepare corn, thank you so much for the flavored oil recipe too! It s awsome. I appreciate all the work you put in your videos! Thanks a lot Johnny. Keep em coming!
Wow. I've only watched a couple of your videos so far and I love your practical approach to using the kettle. I like your video footage as you explain your method of cooking. I know that must take a lot of work and time. I'll be here longer to watch your videos. 🍻
That is some fine looking corn. My corn usually comes out okay. I have tried many methods but I will be trying this next. We are actually traveling right now so I will be giving this a go on my Weber Go-anywhere charcoal grill. I'll let you know how that works out. When we get back home I can use my Weber kettle. Great video, I enjoyed it. Ron
@@Viewtoagrill what can I say, but that was the best corn on the cob I've ever had. I just did 2 ears (wife can't eat corn), and the Go any where worked great. Will be doing this one again. Ron

Howdy Johnny, well done. I don't believe I have seen anyone do grilled corn yet this summer so very nice. And there's no such thing as to many ways to grill corn. I haven't ever heard or seen anyone soaking corn before grilling before. I couldn't help but wonder what it would be like using a brine. Brines are not just for meats. Some salt and sugar in the water would help increase moisture in the kernels. Plus give additional seasoning. I normally make a butter and garlic sauce to baste the garlic while grilling it exposed. Here's a nifty little trick I like to do. I pull the husks back from the beginning. Then pulling a long couple of leaves off I twist them into a nice long cord. Then use the cord to tye the husks together to make nice handles. If a person is in a rush or not very craftsy you can just use butchers twine. It makes for a nice rustic presentation. Anyway now I wish I had some corn to grill tonight. Great video. Have a great day. 🌞
Corn brine… now there’s an idea. Butter and garlic is great with corn… I actually have 3 or for more dressings for corn… garlic butter and herbs… incredible on this.
This is great. When using lump, have you ever found that the unburned pieces sometimes form little wedges that get caught under the intake vent damper blades? I’ve had them mess up my damper blades from that. What am I doing wrong?
Hello Odom. Yes, this happens to me as well. I find that when this happens if go slowly when clearing the ashes that the larger pieces will fall thorugh much more easily.
Sorry about that. I had to change out some links a few days ago... and pasted right over the ingredients. Thanks for letting me know. I got them back in.
