    I bought two and they're both fine. No blade play, easy to flick open and close. One is not very sharp, but the other is good. Another youtuber sharpened his and cut cardboard with it for 8 hours before it got dull, which is pretty amazing.

      Yeah, I did that. I actually did 3 tests. First one cut for 7 hours. Second one went for 6 hours before I had to tap out but it still had some edge left. I sharpened the second one to a mirrored 17dps edge and got the 8 hours and it was barely dull enough to call it done, I could have done a bit more.

    All I'll say is that I've bought and carried knives down to cheap chincy Kershaws and Gerbers all the way to Microtechs and Sebenzas. The last time I was sufficiently happy and okay with paying under 50- 60 dollars for a knife was this dumb as hell 10 dollar ozark trail. It brought a smile to my lips the first opening of it. Its not special by any means, but damn, for what they did for 10 dollars is pretty damn amazing. Ive put down benchmades cost 18x as much and never regretted it. So yall can hate it all you want and nitpick it. But it really puts other companies to shame when i comes to their ridiculous price points when walmart can put their foot on the table with a product like this and be just about as good as theirs for fractions of the cost.

    I have a question✋. I know we don’t want blade play, but why? Like functionality wise, what would realistically be the issue that arises from blade play? Also what about the blade being centered. Does it really matter functionally?

    • @apex_alchemy_knives
      @apex_alchemy_knives  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Divici02623 a little blade play isn't a huge deal but it's leaving room for that wobble to get worse. When a knife has tight tolerances, it sometimes doesn't have the best action...but usually it remains consistent through out it's life.
      Blade centering , I don't think thwt matters at all as long as the blade isn't scraping the liner. Even if it is ...if it isn't hurting anything I don't see the big deal.

      It’s just a sign of how quality the knife was made. If it’s all sloppy u know there wasn’t much care put into building the knife. U will never have slip on a decent brand. Even 30$ and up usually have no blade slop. On these ozarks I have two “perfect “ ones and one sloppy Grindy one. It’s just low quality control wich you should expect for 10$.

    The infrared thermometer does not scan pinpoint "by the laser dot" it has a cone area and it takes an average temp. If you want to take the temp of materials you should get 2-3cm away and really narrow down the cone. That is why it "jumped all over the place" - the block would be most of the avg, but as you moved around you would get the bench too. (Thew laser dot is just so you can aim at something like an AC vent and try to hit center)

    I know a few people that picked these up to see what all the noise was about - all of them developed blade play, pivot wobble (for lack of a better term, I’ve never seen this sort of damage on a folder that I can remember), and lock bar damage in a few weeks of light use.
    Spend 35-55 and get a qsp, ruike, sencut, civivi, Kizer, kansept, (insert your large Chinese OEM here) that will last you a few years and be a better user experience.
    For people saying “well, what do you expect for 10 bucks?”… I expect something that won’t fall apart in a month. A QSP Penguin is 32 bucks. Ruike has about 8 different options under 40 bucks. Get something that isn’t a complete turd.

I was surprised to find out though that this, along with others, will be available in a display of multiple knives for the holidays and likely why there are so few to go around for general display. Ozark Trail is a great knife for the tackle box, glove box and tool box imho. I'm never displeased with them as you never lose much of you break or lose the knife - but it works and works well when you need it. I do EDC an Ozark Trail in camo with a stainless blade. Conclusion, “About as impressed with it as the bugout.” I get you really didn’t like the bugout, but no mention of the fact you could buy anywhere from 17-20 of these for the price of one bugout?!? You’re reviewing a $10 knife and are disappointed it’s only about as good as a knife 20 times the price. I’ve been collecting knives for 46 years and have always looked for that perfect combo of decent enough quality and low enough price to make the perfect “beater” knife for every day carry. I can honestly say nothing I have ever found even comes close to this. I think you’re missing the point entirely. This is not best knife ever made. It is CERTAINLY the best $10 knife ever made. You can trash the knife from one end to the other. I’m not saying you are trashing the knife. But it’s a great little throw away work knife for sure. And almost everything on it can be replaced for a couple dollars. Even the bearings. Or you can buy another one for $10.
    I ordered eight of them and got them in a couple of days. I have opened one but haven’t done anything with it except sit here and flipped it open a couple hundred times. And thought it was very smooth. I normally don’t carry a little this big. I carry a Gerber LST. It comes in 3 different sizes and doesn’t look like anything special. I own around 30 of them.
