Some people assume you cannot use the center seat combined with each side seat anchor for LATCH but it’s very important to read the manual for your vehicle. The SNUGRIDE 35 Owner’s Manual Section 4.3 states, the “center seat can be used if the tethers in your vehicle are 11” or more spaced apart” and most importantly if your vehicle allows it according to the Vehicle Owners Manual. The car I installed the SNUGRIDE 35 to is a 2003 Ford Focus ZX5. Page 106 of the Vehicle Owner's Manual states it can be installed in the center seat “ONLY IF the child base Safety Manual allows installation to anchors if they are spaced 450 mm apart” which is 17.5". I did my research before installing. Please parents be sure to read all your safety manuals, your child’s life is important!
Thank you for clarifying this. It should have been stated in the video, since many people assume you can install with LATCH in the center (I see it all the time), when usually you actually can't.
Man! Thanks! You made that so much easier than I thought it would be. Even though I struggled to connect the latches (as I should), the connection is just as you showed, and I'm confident my grandson will be much safer because of your video.
Took me forever to find a video that explains anything!! First time mommy here and I wanna get some practice in before my sons due in a few weeks! this helped so much (:!
3 years later I’m watching this video bby coming soon this morning 1/20/22 I was trying to put mine in the car and I didn’t figure how to do it but thank God for TH-cam and people like you the took the time to explain it tks
I just watched 6 different installation videos for the Snugride 30, then I added “Nissan Skyline” to the search and found your video. Thank God, this is the video for my exact situation. I was trying to explain to my wife that we needed to put it in the center, but she couldn’t visualize it until we saw you do it. Now I’m ready to install. Hope your little one is doing well and growing fast, I’m a first time dad too.
Thank you! The latch system...years ago I got so frustrated trying to remove the car-seat because the clip would not get off the latch inside the seat, that I took shears and cut the whole miserable thing off! Needless to say, we needed a new car-seat.
Using outboard lower seat anchors to latch a seat base into the center seat position is known as “borrowing” in the owners manual of the specific vehicle. Consult your vehicle manual when doing anchoring into the center position; depending on the manual, “borrowing” from the outboard anchor positions may be prohibited thereby leaving you no choice but to use the seatbelt method for the center position.
Thank you for this video! I have to pick up my 2 month old grandson from daycare today. I was given the the base because the actual seat is at the daycare. The problem for me is I had never used the latch method…..they weren’t around when my 31 old son was born. So your video was very well done and explained. Thank you so much!
Thanks for the video. Soon to be New Dad. Installing this before we leave for the hospital and this helped take the guess work out of the installation.
Thanks for this. Instructions that came with the car seat lacks when it comes to installing with a lap belt. Could not figure out how to lock the lap belt. Thanks for the video.
If the middle doesn't have lacth your not suppose to put the latch connectors on the left side and the right side those latches belong to the seat if u were to put the base on the right or left side of your vehicle

Thanks Bro ,Seriously running into your video has been a god sent! You got straight to the point and showed the 2 methods in your one Vid! 👏 Bj Peace ✌🏼 from Australia 🇦🇺
I was trying to figure this out for some time as my wife and I are due for our first in the next few weeks. Great video and much clearer than the manual and most other videos out there. I'm not sure at the end of the video if you moved the handlebar down for the shot or keep it that way normally because it was still set that way for the pics you transition through at the end of the video but my understanding (and what is written on the seat itself) is that the handle of the car seat should always be set in position A (which is upright as if you were carrying it) while in the car. It seemed strange to me at first since it can obstruct the driver's view of the baby but apparently it has something to do with anti-rebounding if in an accident. I saw your comments about the latch system so I know each car/seat/manual/seat location can have differences but just wanted to add it here for other parents who may not realize that the handlebar likely has a proper position depending on those things and they should read to find out what that is. I've seen so many different pieces of info on this it's confusing but the Graco one states having it in the upright position. Awesome vid and thanks for taking the time to put it out there
Hey quick question for those who installed this same baby car seat, I installed it and the base is pretty well attached, it does not move, when i put the baby car sit on the base after I hear the "click" it looks pretty good but, if I shake the baby seat it moves, the base does not move but thr car seat does. If you shake your baby car seat, does it move?
There haven’t been enough studies to support both methods simultaneously, only crash experts suggesting that using both can cause unnecessary stress on the base unit. So to avoid using your child as a test dummy, just use one or the other.
My son is now 3+ months and I noticed the level indicator on our base is showing only light blue. Now that he's 3+ months old the level needs to show a little bit of dark blue. It seems like the base has no way to adjust for this. How did you get yours to match the correct level?
Thanks for he video! I have a question..I have the same model as you but I didn’t see the metal piece that goes for the belt method. Where would it be?
I have a Graco car seat and is similar to this... My husband installed it and is on pretty good... Now what I'm wondering is is there and easy way to get the car seat off? Because I almost want to cry every time I try taking my kid out the car, it's a nightmare for me... Or maybe I'm doing it wrong 😭
In this seat, it was a matter of having enough of a squeeze on the red latch that releases the seat from the base. While simultaneously lifting the foot of the seat closest to your child’s feet. I suggest practicing the lift a few times with a teddy in that way it should become easier. Hope that helps!
You can buy them, but if the manual doesn’t mention them or if it was not included, more than likely they discontinued it or evolved the tech to move passed it
Read your car owner’s manual and the base owner’s manual you own before installing in the middle. Most impact studies are done in side seat tests. I would suggest using the safest option possible, one that doesn’t force you to question based on the dynamics of your automobile.
Please check with your user manual and vehicle manual for the latch system. Some vehicles have center latch anchors but most do not. It is unsafe to use one anchor from each side of the car. Please read the manuals!!! For BOTH vehicle and your seat!!
He actually stated it in the pinned comment if you took the time to read it. Also some manuals for certain car seats state it’s ok to put car seats in the middle as long as they are a certain length across. That’s why he referred to that specific manual and said to read what your manual said. Stay blessed :)

Also, you should consider becoming a CPST!

Thanks bro, 3rd son but first time using this system. Love seeing other proud young dads
Congrats to you! Working on my third as well

Thank you so much. First time dad, clueless on install of this model. Best video I’ve seen on this by far.
Well said, first time dad. I cant install this like a Marine (means I cant bang it into place) but this video is perfect.
Thank you so much! First time dad here. This video is invaluable. Graco should pay you for this!
I agree
So good. This the best description so far

Your video was even better than the graco video. Great details and description.
First time dad too, your video was better than the actual company who makes it video. Very good video
Thanks for the video. Soon to be New Dad. Installing this before we leave for the hospital and this helped take the guess work out of the installation.
Congrats. My hopes for a speedy recovery and a healthy child!

First time dad here. This helps me out a lot. Thanks !
Ty good video. My wife is in slow contraction mode right now so time to go install. Cheers.
Congrats mate!
Way easier than the manual. Thanks, dude!
Thanks Bro ,Seriously running into your video has been a god sent! You got straight to the point and showed the 2 methods in your one Vid! 👏 Bj Peace ✌🏼 from Australia 🇦🇺
Very helpful video, took me less than 5 minutes to install after watching your video, you're a star!
thanks for all your help from a clueless dad!
Thank you sooooooooo much this video was sooo easy to understand thank you im a 1st time dad and this helped alot

Awesome. Made it super easy for me! Appreciate the help from new dad to new dad!
@neodefectivegaming now I realize this is 2 years ago 😂
Congrats, get as much sleep as you can

Tnk so much! It was such a great video. I Couldn't find the way to install before I found your video. Tnks again ✌🏻
Gramma says thank you you've explained perfectly!
Thank you so much for this video. It helped me more than the manual. God bless you
Super informative and described MUCH better than it was in the instruction manual. Thanks so much!
Bro thanks for this video!!! But can we use both methods?
There haven’t been enough studies to support both methods simultaneously, only crash experts suggesting that using both can cause unnecessary stress on the base unit. So to avoid using your child as a test dummy, just use one or the other.
Are you using the middle seatbelt for the video and is it safe to use the latch hooks directly behind the passenger seat
It’s recommended to use the latch hooks behind the passenger seat.
Bro thank you
Having trouble trying to remove base from the seat! Help please
Try putting weight on the base while removing base from the seat.
Why do I always have problem tightening the strap via the latch method.
I finally figured it out. Thanks in part to this video. You got to send the strep back through the seat for tightening.
My son is now 3+ months and I noticed the level indicator on our base is showing only light blue. Now that he's 3+ months old the level needs to show a little bit of dark blue. It seems like the base has no way to adjust for this. How did you get yours to match the correct level?
There is a twisting knob on one end of the base, twist it while the base is at rest on the seat and the ball will roll where you need it.
Thanks for he video! I have a question..I have the same model as you but I didn’t see the metal piece that goes for the belt method. Where would it be?
For my seat it was attached under the base.
On mine it was on the back of the carrier
Afshan Rajkotwala-Baig thanks. I was about to order one from Amazon
If your seatbelts lock, you don’t need a locking clip at all
Why not to use both system together?
I have a Graco car seat and is similar to this... My husband installed it and is on pretty good... Now what I'm wondering is is there and easy way to get the car seat off? Because I almost want to cry every time I try taking my kid out the car, it's a nightmare for me... Or maybe I'm doing it wrong 😭

Awesome video, definitely helpful. Thanks
Mine didn’t come with this metal clip and it doesn’t have the metal clip in the manual or installation guide
You can buy them, but if the manual doesn’t mention them or if it was not included, more than likely they discontinued it or evolved the tech to move passed it
Thanks you so much that was very helpful 👍
thanks this is easier than the manual
Had this shit so snug, cant remove this now lmfao
Put weight on the base and then it’s much easier to loosen the base
Where do you get the belt latch, the metal thing that you locked the seatbelt in? Is it something extra you need to buy?
The belt latch was attached underneath the base when I pulled it out if the box.
Grandma and Grandpa say, THANK YOU!!
Why doesn’t anyone show how to detach the seat base from the main carrier ?
Thank you!
Thank you ..
You actually can’t use latch on the center seat (in most cars
Hayden Lee Hey! He actually says it on the top comment that it depends on your car seat manual.... 🤷🏻♀️
Great info thanks so much. One question- can you tell me the background music used in this video?
Thanks, it was very helpful!
You need to review more stuff and guides. You are good man
Thanks this was helpful.
Thank you, it was helpful, now my gracko car seat’s base is snug as rock
thank you for this informations!
so you're car already had hooks to connect the latches to?
Yes they all should have them installed
This was soo helpful! Thank you so much! The latch method is much easier.
fWhat did the latch sys latch on to in the vehicle
seat?
In between the back rest and seat, if you feel around, there are child seat latches
THX
Thanks a lot for this video
Good video
Thank you
How you take the seat off men
The base or the seat?
Is it safer in the middle even if the middle seat is smaller and more of the base is off the seat than a side?
Read your car owner’s manual and the base owner’s manual you own before installing in the middle. Most impact studies are done in side seat tests. I would suggest using the safest option possible, one that doesn’t force you to question based on the dynamics of your automobile.
Brilliant.... loved it
