    This was really interesting; I've been thinking about this recently too. I only play matchmaking, usually with just one or two friends of mixed skill levels, so I can only relate so much, but I noticed I'm very disciplined and passive as a CT and like lurking or solo pushing as a T. I'll want to try working B on Mirage for example and get very uncomfortable if 3-4 people start following me. I seem to perform well with an AWP but there's often some idiot buying one when the rest of us are on eco, so I don't often get a chance to use one (without being selfish). I'll watch the categories a gain to see which one seems to fit me best!

    From the roles you presented I would extrapolate for me, that I need to either make more conscious decisions or speak up. One or the Other... since I like to be more active and have a hard time staying passive. I guess the best case szenario would be, if u are able to make good decisions, have the ability to play passive and aggressive depending on the szenario and also be good at communicating what you want to do or what you need a teammate to do.

    Thank you so much for making these videos! This is a perspective we don't get to see much and it's great to have such good comentary from a high level player.
    I was wondering if you've ever considered making a video about how to find your first team or perhaps how to make one? I know we can just look at team advertisements but are there things that you look out for when working with a new group? Or things that you WOULD be looking out for if you were a lower level player (Esea Rank B or Faceit Level 7 for example). Perhaps Communication styles, over all skill level, is there a language barrier? I'd be very interested in any insight you might have on this since you've played in many teams with many different players. Your personality / comms style seems like it can fit in just about anywhere.
    Thank you for continuing to make great cs videos :)

    I actually dedicated myself to the AWPing role including using SSG 08 in replacement of the FAMAS--and the Galil at times. Definitely a calculated risk taker who fights for mid control constantly. I do not talk much, but I am highly assertive and give useful callouts when necessary. I thought your analysis was fitting for the AWPer role.

    Thank you for the banger content. It really helped me refresh my brain and open new avenues for my train of thought.
    Anyways I have a question, How do I effectively watch demo's and how many should I watch a week?
    Currently my team is in a state of a break, so I am just solo q'ing faceit.
    Would it be better to watch faceit POV's or official games?

    great video, I was asking myself this question just recently! My roles right now are entry/rifler and anchor, although I do also like to get aggressive on CT. Do you think both CT and T roles should be as similar as possible or can opposites work well, too?

    • @STYKO
      @STYKO  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They should be similar. Players who are able to switch their initiative or consciousness levels depending on map/side they play are incredibly rare.

    Could you explain what you mean by extremities?

    • @STYKO
      @STYKO  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Extremity role on T is basically same thing as Anchor role on CT. You play at the edge of the map, often alone, responsible for your area. Example would be Mirage T side - One extremity player is playing towards A (Palace / Slope) and second extremity player is playing towards B Apps. Rest of the team is working in the 3-man pack on middle.

  • @Mirb13Gaming
    @Mirb13Gaming ปีที่แล้ว

    I really enjoyed this video, thanks Styko! I was wondering, as an IGL who leans towards the introverted side, do you feel like this might cause issues at all and is there any work-around for this? From what I know as an outsider, Kyxsan seems to be an introverted / quieter IGL from what I've seen on voice comms & on camera. Is there anything you guys do as a team with this and any tips you could give? (Also if I'm just wrong about Kyxsan then nvm haha)

    • @STYKO
      @STYKO  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is incredibly helpful to offset this by having extremely extroverted coach instead. Kuben is very crazy person so this is kind of how we work in Apeks :D
      Edit: But very good question and we are working on this in the team to make sure everyone is comfortable and it clicks. We are still figuring things out :)

    im bipolar, does that mean I can play multiple roles?

  • @PeopleAreWaitingForMe
    @PeopleAreWaitingForMe ปีที่แล้ว

    I doubt it makes sense. We have different players with different personalites on same role. For example cadiaN and Jame, zywoo and s1mple.
    So it's doesn't matter in the end at all as long as you're confident in yourself

    • @STYKO
      @STYKO  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      All 4 players you mentioned are having insanely high conscientiousness (with Jame being a bit extreme due to his playstyle) - That is natural, if you have the most expensive gun in the game, you don't want to risk too much to lose it.
      cadiaN and Jame are IGLs and they share trademark trait - high extraversion (just listen to comms of both teams, or watch their cameras at tournaments. They talk the most) and high initiative. They initiate how the round is played.
      s1mple is also one of the vocal guys in NaVi as I am sure he helps with leading the team to some degree.
      Only low extraversion is ZywOo. Which is understandable as he doesn't need to lead the team.
      As I said in the video. Extraversion is the trait which isn't very important for AWPers.

    • @PeopleAreWaitingForMe
      @PeopleAreWaitingForMe ปีที่แล้ว

      Just rewatched the video and you correctly clarified what you mean "IN GAME" personality.. Because there are no direct and clear divisions of people's characters, everything depends on the environment.
      Jame is very active in the teamspeak of his team and to some extent he can even be called an extrovert (in the game, because in life he is 100% introvert, I know him very well from a very long time).
      However, put him in the FPL and it will be a completely different person, he will not behave the way he behaves from his team, since he does not have such a level of trust and support. So the concept of extraversion for such players as conditionally jL and Jame are two different things.
      jL is an extrovert both in real life and in the team, and this can be seen by the way he plays in different lineups. Throughout his career, Jame has a backbone that trusts him, he is literally their leader. But not a leader like Karrigan, who behaves the same in completely different compositions.
      In general, all this is a very subtle thing and I still treat such statements with skepticism, but in the end you say the right things, that you need to try yourself everywhere, and not limit yourself to one role simply because you think it suits your character
      so thank you anyway, this video was high class quality content even if i dont agree at 100% with that narrative

  • @Sedeerah
    @Sedeerah ปีที่แล้ว +10

    This is interesting, but please don't go and diagnose yourself a role via big 5. If you want to use the "framework" (it's more of a take/opinion tbh) presented here, it would be better to think about what is meant when a personality tendency (supposedly) fits a certain role. Ask yourself what you'll be doing in that role and how that interacts with personality components. Then think if that sounds good to you. Personality tests rely on self-report and aim to extrapolate information about you from that, which of course is impossible to do perfectly. Basing another measure on that result will increase the margin of error, especially when self-report is what everything is based on in the first place.
