Hey guys, quick update: #1 keep the dive on the needles for few seconds and see if the calculated range is stable and makes sense. #2 16nm seems to be the hard limit for these if you drop them from 30k at mach speed #3 I was testing this with the SA-2 but somehow the range gets calculated way too short always (mk50 seekers) and the sparrows fall to the ground before acquiring the target... so the best way to get an SA-2 is with mavericks imo...
Or you can just launch shrikes slightly higher which is possible cuz as it gives you the cue it still gives you a fair bit of time before it launches, so you can just pull your nose a bit higher. You should actually fire higher regardless as shrikes will have no trouble pulling down (they only seem basicly incapable of pulling up) and if you do so it will give them a higher attack angle hence better accuracy.
UPDATE #2 this got broken in DCS, shrikes don’t give any sound, AND figured out why the range is not stable: Range is not calculated by the shrike’s receiver but simply by pitagora’s theorem given your altitude, the target altitude and your nose angle. So set the depression to 35mils and put the pipper on target. Ranges of under 20nm are good.

for some reason it doesn't work, tried in training in the editor on the wheel, did the same thing several times, but on the ADI it's empty, the arrow doesn't point to the radiation and there is no sound from the missiles that they are picking up the radiation... check please, did it against the SA-8 and SA-2 mk49 mod1
@@showsesol1792 yes I spent all my free time today testing it and communicating with fellow phantom enjoyers. Seems like they implemented some changes that made the system more realistic but broke everything in the process, so shrikes won’t give sounds and they track way more radar bands. But the shrikes and the system generally work, what you have to do is set the pipper to AG 35mils and put it on the enemy position. if the altitude data you inserted is right you’ll see on the Nav Wheel a straight arrow and the calculated distance. If the distance is under 20nm press and hold pickle and start pulling up until the donut 🍩 appears then in 5 seconds the shrikes will deploy. Placing the pipper on the target is the correct way to do it even if the HSI needles are working I discovered… Tested with MK49.1 and SA-3. Also check that the sam site is not disabling their radar following your launches, because on ShadowReaper’s server it’s nearly impossible to get a kill with those without a second wild weasel plane
If you want to make a good tutorial video, first of all never use VR. It very hard to understand anything while your head is shaking all around the cockpit. Maybe VR is very good for immerse yourself, but very uncomfortable to watch.
@@alpenfoxvideo7255 Its in the openxr toolkit options, called overcorrection compensation or something, it basicly just smooths out your head movement making recordings look much better and zooming in much more bearable.
If you have VR setup without a monitor in front of you(like I am for example), it's kinda become impossible to make any recordings other way around, sadly... =( And doing normal screenshots too. It's a limitation that not everyone can override in their setups. The only way is to not record anything at all. OpenXR toolkit is old and unsupported anymore.
