Nothing but huge respect for Ukraine. I remember a ukrainian lorry driver who worked in Denmark. Always a big smile! He tried to talk english - it wasn't perfect but he gave it a shot. But I’ve also heard that that Ukrainian forces are besieging the town but it has not yet been recaptured. Those are what I’ve heard on western medias, but on Chinese medias ppl are claiming that some reinforcements arrived in Lyman and Russians are holding there. I’d be very happy to see Ukrainians doing well but I’m just a bit worried that it might get blown out of proportion. Especially since I haven’t heard confirmation abt the fall of Lyman since yesterday and there are fewer updates on what’s going on now. All that said, I really do hope Ukrainians keep up advancing at this lightning speed

Hopefully this is the beginning of the end of the war. Even if it continues into the winter and into next year (if the Ukrainians manage to retake the south and hold the advances they’ve made in the East), the Russians will be in a poor negotiating position. If Ukraine holds firm and the West continues to support them, this war could be over by next year.
I think it’s too much to expect them to retake the south this year, tbh. But they can consolidate what they have won back, and people can be free to help one another survive the winter.

The Russian military diverted troops from the North and East to fortify the south after the Ukrainians pulled off that rouse on the media when they said they were launching a counter offensive. The difference between Russia withdrawing from Kyiv and what happened around Kharkiv is significant. Around Kyiv, they stopped at the Ukrainian defense and turned back. Now they were chased out of territories they held for months. It shows that Ukrainian army is indeed capable of retaking the occupied land. It shifts the whole perspective of the war.

Ukraine is setting the stage for a thoroughly miserable Russian winter. All of Ukraine occupied by Orcs will be impossible to supply. That problem will get disastrous when the weather gets really bad. Russia has bemoaned the current losses exceeding 50k killed, so I suspect when that number rolls past 100K the alarm will more than double.

So I imagine that the bogged Ukrainian advance is now in a horrendous position and will be destroyed piecemeal in the immediate future. They are now concentrated in an area with no properly prepared positions and vastly fewer civilians. This offensive is being hailed as a tactical victory but a strategic error. In many ways the Russians appear to be using their defence in depth doctrine which is to retreat if they cannot hold. They don't have the numbers to hold a thousand mile front and many areas will be thinly manned. Ukrainian advances play into Russia's hands.

The difference between Russia withdrawing from Kyiv and what happened around Kharkiv is significant. Around Kyiv, they stopped at the Ukrainian defense and turned back. Now they were chased out of territories they held for months. It shows that Ukrainian army is indeed capable of retaking the occupied land. It shifts the whole perspective of the war.

Ukraine is setting the stage for a thoroughly miserable Russian winter. All of Ukraine occupied by Orcs will be impossible to supply. That problem will get disastrous when the weather gets really bad. Russia has bemoaned the current losses exceeding 50k killed, so I suspect when that number rolls past 100K the alarm will more than double.
If the fascist war criminals have acknowledged 50K in soldiers lost then the real number killed in action is probably already 100K. Putin is doomed.

So I imagine that the bogged Ukrainian advance is now in a horrendous position and will be destroyed piecemeal in the immediate future.
They are now concentrated in an area with no properly prepared positions and vastly fewer civilians.
This offensive is being hailed as a tactical victory but a strategic error.
In many ways the Russians appear to be using their defence in depth doctrine which is to retreat if they cannot hold.
They don't have the numbers to hold a thousand mile front and many areas will be thinly manned.
