Being from Alberta Canada, there is a large Ukraine community there. I was lucky to get to know a lot of their culture and the beauty of the people. There are multiple wars every single decade. What's different about THIS ONE is that it's not just a proxy war like so many others, Russia is directly invading another nation and the US and NATO are directly supporting the victims of Russian aggression. This is as close as the West has gotten to a direct war with Russia / USSR. It's like the Cold War has not only resumed, but has also grown quite hot. One spark could ignite all the gasoline.... figuratively speaking. And who knows what could happen then. Big implications for this war, it will probably end up ending Putin's iron reign over his people. Just imagine if Putin were to, say, sink an American cruise ship.... not a military ship, mind you, I mean a cruise ship destined for the Bahamas or something. That's precisely what pulled the US into officially declaring war on Nazi Germany. Maybe if the Russians shot down an American passenger jet? Any American civilians targeted or hit accidentally by Russia could be all the impetus we need for sending boots on the ground. Fortunately, if that's necessary, the Ukrainians have already softened up the Russians to the point that they're psychologically broken, with zero morale. Interesting times we live in....

It's Afghanistan all over again. The Russians come storming in with overwhelming force and hopes for a quick victory, but after a few months of getting their asses kicked, they end up limping back to Russia dragging their nation's pride in the mud the whole time. I knew a fighter who never let anyone get past the 3rd round. Everyone thought he was champion material, but I saw a guy who wouldn't know what to do if he didn't knock the opponent out in 3 rounds. And I was right. I let him wail on me for 3 rounds and during the 4th or 5th, he got so tired that he couldn't hold up his gloves and I won by tko in the 6th round. It was easy.

Based on the available videos and pictures of the Ukrainian attack against Dudčan, I claim that the number of destroyed up to 10 Ukro tanks and 15-20 BVP during the first day of fighting is very realistic, and if the Ukrainians lost 20-25 tanks in three days only against Dudčan and BVP "that they cannot be enumerated" (if the ratio is the same as the first day, 1 destroyed tank - 1.5 or 2 destroyed BVP, the total number would be between 30 and 50 lost BVP Ukra), I am of the opinion that Ukri will in the very foreseeable future time on the Kherson Front to lose too much equipment and crews to continue the offensive, of course if the Russian lines do not collapse, which I still doubt will happen considering that there should still be a serious team there.
If this pace continues, the Ukrainians will lose a tank brigade in 7 days!!!
Practically every day they lose a column around David's Brid, so far they have lost God and the Father around Suvo Stavok and Kostroma, and now they have started to spend even more seriously along the Dnieper.
It would be unbelievable to me if they can push like this in November.

Also another 775 million in military assistance was approved in August. No other country has committed more to the Ukrainian people and the fight to push back on the Putin aggression.

To be brutally fair no one could have known just how badly Putin's military administration had gutted the Russian armies preparations for invasion - they packed victory parade uniforms instead of proper provisions.
Or how zealously the Ukrainians would defend their homes after Zelensky rallied them like a frickin titan.
It was a projection, the thing about a projection is it assumes both militaries that are matched up have equipment and training that is both sufficient and reliable. What the war has shown is that russian military readiness is abysmal as the equipment and supplies are lacking in both quantity and quality and that their core fighting force is built around conscripts that go combat ineffective in meager losses alone on an offensive campaign.
On paper, they did have the ability to take kyiv in 3 days. The truth, their a disorganized mess that's bleeding both man power and equipment.

Projections and analysis usually takes in account known equipment, previous battle strategy and past performance of said militaries in question. Russia, atleast in the cold war era, was considered the main rival of the US with equipment and personnel on par that military and with, at the time, extensive military experience. All that seems to have evaporated after the fall of ussr and the war with Ukraine has shown all that capability is no longer there as their generals barely have any effect in organizing and leading formations, when they are not getting shot, and their primary equipment is leftovers of the cold war. To make matters worse, military corruption is so bad it is unknown if any of the vehicles that were sent were 100 percent ready to specification as components of reclaimed vehicles are completely missing and the ones that do work rely on consumer grade items, particularly drones, and that's just a few examples.
If they were even remotely as competent, that original projection could have been somewhat accurate, probably not.
If he becomes unhinged, his people will intervene. These guys aren't going to commit suicide.

The best tactic Ukraine has so far is ambushing Russian equipment when it is traveling. The goal is to disable or capture more weapons than Russia can build or buy. This also makes it easier to capture soldiers with the least amount of harm. Remember; Russian soldiers are victims of Putin's madness too.
Trying to break through fortified positions is costly to both opponents. When on the road, smaller drones can be used to damage vehicles just enough to disable them, with less chance of harming operators. Like the America Revolutionaries, Ukrainians must be craftier than the big bully.

I have been watching this war since 2014. I have never seen Ukraine accomplish anything anywhere near this. There has got to be more to it than just "will power."

The way the Russian "troops" are really just struggling to survive, let alone have an objective, is reminiscent of what I see in homeless populations. Just survival, worrying about basic needs, no way to focus on anything past that. Same thing with some committing crimes, others getting drunk/high, all makes it impossible to function at higher levels of thought. You just want a break, for "it" to stop.
This can not be called a professional armed force, what waste of man power.

Well yeah that's the thing, they knew they couldn't fend off Ukraine's massive onslaught of troops so they just backed away as fast as possible to avoid taking casualties, while relying on help of navy and airforce to slow down the advancement of Ukraine. Quite literally the best thing they could do since they were ignorant enough to not entranch themselves better and station more troops there
