I just tried it on an old blocker. It came out amazing!! One tip though. Use and exact knife when peeling the tape back. You don’t have to apply much pressure. It comes off easy and you couldn’t get it more precise if you tried. Since this was a test run I didn’t even try too hard. This is way better than pas skins. It is cheaper, way easier to do. Plus as soon as I showed it to someone they said plus you can see the stitching which would get covered up with pad skins
Plastidipped my skates believe it or not. It totally worked! I have taken toe picks, pucks, blades, sticks, pucks, you name it. I am a skating coach and my skates get put to serious use. If they get a knick or start peeling, I just coat over it and they are good to go. Great video.
I'm about to do 90% of a blocker this way for a 'full-right' 10u goalie... finding cheap full-right gear means you have to get some funny colors sometimes, plasti-dip to the rescue.
Looks great. I just used pad skinz on my sons pads but it came out looking unprofessional. Especially the raised edges. I will try this instead. Getting a year out of them is fine as he will probably need a new set for next year. You did a great job. I will let my wife do it as I would probably mess it up.
Got to try it on my sons pads! They are withe black and red.. will change red to gols or green. But I need to change the knee brake, where it's red! Same model as you Vaighn V5..
Andrew Politsky it’s removable. Comes off much cleaner than padskinz on the jenpro. Only trouble spots could be on stitching and fabric. I’d avoid spraying fabric. For stitching when you peel it off just use some mineral spirits and a tooth bush if you want it all gone gone. For me pucks always mark up my stitches anyway.
@@therealneoneddy your method is so much better. I just did pads with pads skins and it took forever. Too much tracing and cutting. After all was said and done it just doesn't look right from close on the raised part. Will try your method tomorrow on a old blocker before I hit up the Premiers
What's your opinion on when you used Vinyl or Duct tape instead of Plastidip? How would you compare all 3 methods as far as look and results go, thanks for response (:
Will the same plasti dip spray work on helmets(I dont mind it being matte)And how do I get around strings that are woven in the path of the design I am going for? Can I just wipe the strings with that Xylol to clean it off?
On the helmet, yes you can, not sure on durability, I did vinyl there. On the stitching and heavy cords, yeah you can clean it up later with Xylol. My tip would be to lay it the plasti-dip on 4-5 layers. I did 3 or so and when I pulled some off (getting ready to winter season here and will change up the look) it stuck to some areas, but mostly where it was thin. When plasti-dip is laid on thick, it peels off like a latex glove.
therealneoneddy okay thank you for responding! I actually finished my set today if you want to see the final product it is here: imgur.com/gallery/dYdQ4
I know I'm a bit late to the party here but I Plasti Dipped my helmet with about 5 coats and it held up great for many seasons. I just recently pulled it all off cuz I got bored with the look.
I used plastic dip after I watch your videos ,like you said it a very durable and cheap alternative . Everything turned out great minus the edges on the gloves.

Cleans the puck Mark's nd other stains . Look new agian
thats awesome dude! im going to go this route!
Debating wether to do this or the padskinz. My only question. Is it removable? or would u just spray a new color over it

If you do another attempt on the plastidip I think everyone would appreciate a how-to on what you did: (tape, cleaning, setup etc).

bobby woodfine keep some mineral spirits around and just moisten the edges. They will soften up and re-adhere.
Is it a certain kind of plasti dip
I HAVE THE DOCUMENTS Na, just the spray cans woes fine
How did you plastic dip your pads
Lawrence Welsh I have a video on it. Link in description.
