its great to have ppl like u posting videos like this cuz it helps newbs to improve.. but in my opinion u should keepp on working then when u finally get it right, post it!! u still have long way to improve.. i remember when my basslines used to sound like that.. about 4 years ago..
is a perfect starting point for less experienced people, this tutorial is very well explained why I give a 10/10 but i prefer the tutorial 2, is deeper into more technical aspects, that I like, good job synapse11.
@swif7y Step is 1/32 of the full note length (1 bar). Snap determines how notes and events move relative to the Piano roll grid and how quantization aligns items.
The point aint in what synth to use, but how to program the bass, and i found that 3xosc was the easiest way to demonstrate that. Usually i use VB-1 or Sytrus for my basslines. I would reccomend Sytrus, because it gives you much control over the bass sample. And VB-1 is, while used by most artists out there, good but you cant achieve much different bass samples with it, it has specific sound that you cant avoid. Try using Sytrus.
this is so good!!! it reminds me of all the psychedelic artists i listen too. if you do a next video, it would be really cool if you could show us how to do the 64th note and 128th note. a lot of psychedelic musicians do this, like for the example Electric Universe. but fantastic job by the way...this blew my mind. im as well in a band called "Iridescense", curently being developed.
@NicoT1n3 Scroll to the end of the note, click on the end and drag to resize, use alt + click to bypass snapping, OR double click on the note and set the duration to 00:01:000 and work from that.
@droidekalane I use exactly 1/64 very rarely (my bass notes are usualy between 1/64 and 1/32 and upwards). 1/128 is too short on that tempo IMO. To get 1/32 snap click on the magnet icon (Snap to grid) at the top-left on the piano roll and select step, similarly to get 1/64 snap select 1/2 step and for 1/128 select 1/4 step. I usually have it on 1/2 and use L-alt + click to bypass snap when resizing notes.
its rly hard for me to make a more advanced tutorial, i just go with the feel when making bass preset (experiment. trial & error etc) and than i tweak it with eq's, but the key is listening to what it sounds like to you, and try and compare your result with some pro track... Ofc professional studio monitors or earphones do help :)
Not because it's hard, but could you make a tut about how to make a one note psy bassline? Now that sounds amazing when it's tweaked properly. Currently listening to Astrix, that are very fond of that bassline in his mixes apparently.
@reactor4music Whats the first word that comes to your mind when you're searching for a video or a demonstration of how something is done? I would search for a "tutorial" as a keyword first, than try others. As for compressing or eqing the bass i tried to explain that in my second video but its all as you said unique to each person doing it, also unique depending on the type of music youre making, the samples etc. Every song of mine has different bass eq and compression.
@Synapse11 hey thanks alot for your reply, but its not working anyways. when i do this the patterns changes its color but still i cant short more than i could before -> 1/16 or at least im unable to do so, oh boy this is really confusing -.-
Hello I'm a little implicated here what you've done Video but if I put it on 145 BPM too fast I'll be glad if you could explain to me how to fix it Thank you
jeez im not getting it. first it sounds totally different when i try it, dunno what ive done wrong :((( and second i use fl 9 so i can't shorten the notes anymore, 1/16 seems to be the shortest possibility. did i get this right, when you shortened the notes it became a sidechain, doesn't it?! anyways i'll keep trying thx for the tut though
cool man i hope u read this as the last post was a year ago?i am an x dj from ozzy land and recently had my decks stolen in a break in on my home so im looking to start useing my computer to mix & make tunes.can any1 tell me what i should get or do so i can start making music on my lap top?i dont know much about computers either, pls sme1 help me out? i jst want the basic's so i can start too learn how to do this.cheers n peace out world.
@mmadboy1 1st of all: youtube messed with the sound quality so in reality the kick doesn't sound like that. But i played around with pogo effect in the channel settings, and pitch.

Nice that you show all the ways you can change it :)

@AroundMadness It should be in your FLStudio folder. Go to where FL Studio is installed, then click Data>Patches>Packs>Dance.
thank you! :) I'v always had troubles to make good basslines but due to these examples, it'll be much easier from now on!
man, your bass line ideas are very nice!

@Hagelnot Use Right Alt + Click and drag to your desired length.
sidechaining is something else

Nice dude!! thanks a lot sounds like my favorite artists!!! Fatali!! Space Buddha! Sirius Isness!! Yeahhh!
You might want to shorten the sustain time on the bass, or increase the cutoff while the note is playing... or both!
