The 210 change is now not going ahead, instead a new route 310 is to be made, running from Golders Green to Stamford Hill. This new route will be run by Stagecoach with existing diesel single deckers, starting on the 31st of August. For more details: th-cam.com/video/iU-F4MazZ1g/w-d-xo.html
I really believe that if a bus route can be double decked, it should be. So the idea of downsizing the 210/310 is barmy. Also if they're going to split the Barnet to Stratford route at Chingford, maybe the Eastern section could be extended into the Isle of Dogs.
Superloop 2 proposed bus routes: SL11 to S19 & Bakerloop routes 1. Leytonstone to South Havering via Gants Hill & Romford. 2. Barnet to Stratford via Walthamstow, Enfield & Chingford. 3. Barnet to Harrow via Edgware. 4. Ealing Broadway to Hendon via Hanger Lane & Brent Cross. 5. Ealing Broadway to Kingston via Great West Road & Richmond. 6. Hammersmith to Hounslow West via Great West Road. 7. Richmond to Wimbledon via Roehampton. 8. Streatham to Eltham via Tulse Hill. 9. North Greenwich to Thamesmead via Woolwich. 10. Elephant & Castle to Lewisham via Burgess Park, Old Kent Road and New Cross Gate.
@@ahuman9143 yeah that would be nice even if it would be unreliable. I think the X80 is the only route that goes across the Dartford crossing right now
The route between Streatham and Eltham might follow the P13 Streatham- Lordship Lane, then 185 Horniman Museum- Catford and then it might follow the 160 Catford- Eltham, but I think that it would go in a straight line, not in loops like these routes do
I think the plan for the Hammersmith to Hounslow route will be a mix of the 110 and H91 and the Richmond-Kingston route won’t follow the 65 completely, it could go via the E8 too and likewise, although this hasn’t been said, the Leytonstone-South Havering route could go via the 257 to Stratford, then 86 to Ilford Hill, then via the 296 to Gants Hill, followed by the 66/296 to Romford and so on or another alternative I’ve got in mind for it, is why doesn’t it go via the 247 from Romford to Fencepiece Road, link up with the 275 from there and then go to Walthamstow via the 275 and then via the 257 to Leytonstone? Or perhaps, it could go via the 5 to Green Street, then via the 58 to Leytonstone High Road and then via the 257 to Leytonstone or via the 5 to Canning Town, narrowly miss Canning Town Bus Station like the 276 does, go via it to Stratford and then via the 257 to Leytonstone?
Extend the 210 from Finsbury Park to Stamford Hill, so the whole route will be Brent Cross to Stamford Hill? And single deck only so that it can fit through that low bridge? Bloody hell! And no, I don’t think the Barnet-Stratford route will follow the 97 completely, because if it does, it’ll have missed Chingford Station and the only way for it to have gone via Chingford Station is for it to go via the 307 between Barnet and Enfield, then via the 313 to Chingford Station, then via the 397 to Bancrofts School, then via the 20 to Walthamstow Central, then via the 58 to Leyton and then via the 158 to Stratford
Not every SL route follows an existing route... the SL2 doesn't follow the 123 for the whole route, and the SL5 doesn't follow the 119 the whole route, and the SL7 doesn't follow any route either.
I'd like the Havering Superloop route to at least go through Marks Gate and Collier Row, instead of just following the 66 to Romford, this could be done, by going up Hainault and Billet Road, then via the 247 into Romford, which would provide one area of North Havering, with a Quicker link to the Central and District lines at either Newbury Park or Elm Park Stations, and take some passengers off the 175/247/252/365, and properly link Marks Gate with Collier Row.
Thanks for this most interesting video, which seems to indicate that TfL has quite quickly decided that thw first tranche of SL routes have been a success (unless this is totally to do with the mayoral elections). I'm pleased about this, as I have for a long time felt that London's non-central transport network would be improved by some express bus routes: many people I know who live in 'outer London' travel more to other suburbs than to the centre - but the underground lines all run into the centre, and there is now limited disused railway to be added to the very successful Overground. And - as this announcement emphasises - expressbus routes can be up and going in a fraction of the time a rail line needs to become operational, and at a fraction of the cost. In particular, I'm pleased at the 'BakerLoop' proposal. Doubtless it will gain less custom than the tube line, when finally built, will generate, but it will be something, and it will indicate how urgently the new line should be developed. There are other possible tube extensions which could be trialled in the same way. Also, I feel that there would be other possibilities for linking up main-line suburban rail with underground links (like Thameslink and the Liz line - but less grand) and these too could be preceded by express bus links across the centre. Look forward to your next video
I think Sadiq's manifesto also includes exploring more Bakerloop style buses which run along unbuilt rail projects so hopefully we'll see some of those soon.
no idea why he wants to change 210, it's already fine as it is. 40 or so minutes from brent cross to finsbury park. With a single decker it will make people stand up for most of the route since it gets a bit busy at times with a double decker alone.
