Notice the back wheels aren't moving the majority of the time. Because of where the handle bar is mounted, it's causing you to lift up the machine when you push it. Also throughout you can see the machine is choppy and isn't smooth while pushing. This is because the front housing of the machine is catching and scraping the lawn. If you adjust the height to go higher then you're reducing the depth of the blades that can cut into the soil. From experience i know the issues above is very common and usually unavoidable because of the limited choice in design. This machine have big spoked wheels which is really nice, it will help prevent thatch and moss clogging getting them stuck. I would say this is the better one for the price on the current market.
Hi Laura. Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I think I should have adjusted the handles down a little to reduce the “lift” at the back of the machine. Anyway, I was so impressed with the results. I now have a robotic mower on the lawn and it looks great and is less spongy and more level. Thanks again. Mark
This Hyundai scarifier are exactly the same dimensions, cassettes, collection bag and handles as the parkside scarifier from Lidl … even how you change the cassette … visually the only difference is the colour …
Hi John. Thanks for your feedback. I have just used the petrol model on my rear lawn and the box filled up in a few seconds. Will have a video of the HYSC210 petrol scarifier up soon. Thanks again. Mark
Thanks for this video. I was thinking of buying one but not now. It is clear that the handle hankered too far forward. The rear wheels are not turning because they do not make a sound contact with the ground. Some material is being brought up but some places seem to be missed out. I was expecting to see lines where the rotating blades scarified but that was not in evidence or if it was I could not see it. If the grass had been cut before hand would this machine have made a better job of it? Thanks for a great demo but no thanks Mr. Hyundai I will find a different machine.
Hi Thanks for your comment. Yes the lawn should have been cut before hand. The machine was used again on both my front and rear lawns a couple of weeks ago, and we managed to fill 4 large garden bags with moss and thatch. It's not to say that a heavier petrol model would give a deeper aeration, but this Hyundai does definitely work and does help as the lawn is looking so much better now.
I’ve got the 1800W machine. It’s very powerful, but the offset on the scarifying blades is too narrow - shame as it’s spoiled an otherwise good machine.
I really don't know why companies bother putting collectors on these machines? If you are in need of such a machine, there is a good chance you have a decent size lawn and the collector will fill up in a couple of minutes. Even if you rake or scarify a couple of times a year.
Hi David - So true! I have just done my larger back lawn and ended up taken the box off and collecting up after. Noe I have a mountain of moss and thatch... Thanks for the feedback. Mark
Hi. No unfortunately I don’t think you can on this drum. They are not the screw type and there is no way to slide them off. I will add this fact to the pros and cons on the review. Many thanks.
@@jaynedonaghy3166 Thanks for the feedback - appreciated. I'm thinking about trying alternatives on my front and back lawn although you may well have a point. Will let you know how it goes.
I had a moss ridden lawn for years, which is now virtually moss free. I bought this machine and applied Vitax No Rake Mosskiller a couple of times. Brilliant result. The moss doesn't go black and unsightly and is turned into food for the grass to grow. Aerating and scarifying before and after applying keeps it in great condition. I also feed it with a bag 6X Natural Fibrous Fertiliser.
Would be good to hear what you had applied to lawn normally and see what it looked like a week/ fortnight latrer and beyond. Perhaps next time? Helpful and well presented video for me otherwise
I agree about the grass collector... One question I would like to ask.. I bought one of these last week and I notice in the video that you started scarifying with the collector on but finished it with the collector off the unit. Was there a reason for this.. I have tried scarifying with the collector on and to be honest its hopeless... clogging up and having to be emptied very regularly.
Hi David Yes exactly that. The collection box kept filling up too quickly and I found myself stopping every minute. The hard work is actually scarifying the lawn and this machine does all that work. I just found it quicker to rake up the debris once the job was done. How is your lawn looking? mine took some time to recover due to the dry weather we have been having. Thanks Mark
@@EasyLawnMowing I used the scarifier twice and the amount of rubbish that came out of the lawn was ridiculous. I used the unit on 3mm depth but I found it was making a screaming noise, like a slipping fan belt. Got in touch with the suppliers and they have took the unit back to investigate. So good aftersales.
Anywhere on the wall where you have enough space and can easily access. In terms of the height line up the scarifier first to ensure it has enough clearance from the floor but is also easy to lift off.
@@TonyMontana-os8ri I believe on the middle crossbar of the scarifier. Mine is now at the back of the shed, when I have a tidy up I will give it a try and let you know where I hung it. Thanks
Bought one of these last year - Got to say the worst bit of gardening kit that I have ever bought , the collector bin is all but a waste of time and today the motor cooling fan destroyed itself ! its much too light and bounces and does not do its job !
Thanks for sharing your experience. The collection bag on all brands are never large enough and you are right, they fill so quickly. You can see on my video that in the end I resorted to scarifying without the collection bag and just raked up at the end.
Quick question I have clay soil 208 square metres looking at getting one of these, but not too sure whether to get the electric one or the heavier petrol one. I feel as clay soil can be quite hard at times. Maybe the petrol may be a better option as it has more power? thoughts please?
Hi Obi, for 208 msq I would still go for the electric scarifier. If you are looking for deeper aeration then the petrol would do a better and easier job, but is a little bit big/heavy for your sized lawn, plus you have all the maintenance and fuel of the petrol, for something you are going to use twice a year. Hope this helps, let me know if you have any further questions. Mark
.......and when you need to replace the tines after one or two uses a new cartridge costs forty quid because they only give you one.........absolute pi$$ take.
Hi Phil, thanks for the comment. Yes it is a shame that you can't unclip or unscrew the tines on this model. I will update the review on the website to highlight this. Thanks
Hi Thanks for your feedback. The machine never really struggled and the lawn was cut before I scarified. Scalping the lawn is never a good idea/recommended.
@@EasyLawnMowing I can hear the motor struggling throughout, and scalping is a good idea to reset the crown height, during over seeding or renovation work like level adjustments. You have a lot of junk in that lawn because of the way it is maintained.

Glad it was helpful!
We loved your video! We're happy to see that you enjoyed the product!
Thanks for your positive comments. This is truly a great machine for smaller lawns and the results speak for themselves.
Thanks for showing how the collector is put together. It had me beaten until your video.
You are very welcome!
Very good ,just bought one , wish me luck ,thank you fir video .
Best of luck! and thanks for your feedback. Mark
I’ve just got the 1800w version. It’s great but doesn’t have the quick release cams to collapse the handle. Never going to use the grass box!

What weed and moss killer did you use?
Hi Adam, I use the Miracle-Gro Evergreen Complete 4-in-1. Thanks Mark
Can you get replacement tines for this product, instead of buying replacing the hole interchangeable unit please.
Hi. No unfortunately I don’t think you can on this drum. They are not the screw type and there is no way to slide them off. I will add this fact to the pros and cons on the review. Many thanks.
Did you mow the lawn before you ran the scarifier? The lawn looks quite long, making it more difficult for the scarifier than it had to be?
Yes I did cut the lawn before scarifying, but you are right it could have been shorter, making the process that bit easier.
some people suggest scarifying before moss treatment to allow the moss killer to penetrate deeper. Any thoughts on this?
I have heard that if u scarify the live moss it will spread the moss spores and make ur moss problem worse.
