    The spring loaded tines is actually the power rake. The blades are for scarifying and raising thatch from the lawn.

      Thanks for your comment, yes you are right if you want a deeper scarification then use the blades instead of the tines. The tines on a low setting will still scratch the surface of the turf.

      I agree, I wish people would get it right, it is annoying.

    I have had a vin Haus scarifier for a few years now and it does a fair job with the following caveats, I generally leave the grass box off and push a petrol rotary mowe round after and on my model the wheels carry grass up to the motor air inlet grille and need to be kept clear to avoid overheating.

    Just bought one . Same model. Not used it just yet . Ready for the spring .

      Sure you will be pleased with your purchase. I will be doing the same in a week or two, just waiting for the lawn to dry out a little.

    Wonderful review! If only they were all as comprehensive as yours. Q: how often can you scarify?

      @EasyLawnMowing  ปีที่แล้ว

      Many thanks. I would say twice each year would be best for the lawn. Normally in spring and autumn.

    I'm looking at the corded 1800W VonHaus or Hyundai models as they are similarly priced. We have stones in our soil, so I was wondering the best way to deal with that? Will these machines cope with stones?

    • @EasyLawnMowing
      @EasyLawnMowing  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi,
      Both machines would make a good purchase and do an equally good job. With regard to the stones, I think this will damage the dethatcher blades and may even put excessive strain on the motor. The raking tines are spring loaded so should deal better with the stones in the lawn.
      Thanks
      Mark

    This was an informative, well-mannered, and enjoyable review. Top-notch. I recently purchased the same machine for the same reasons, and your review was a pleasing confirmation of my particular choice.
    ...
    On a side note, I do wonder about your choice to leave the healthy grass so long, as it would seem easier to operate the machine over a lawn of reduced height; also, since you would be overseeding/reseeding, a reduced-height lawn would allow more time for the seedlings to sprout and grow before the existing healthy grass would require cutting. Unbeknownst to me, it's possible that your weather conditions may have played a role in your decision.
    ...
    All things considered, a fine presentation indeed.

      Thanks Mark for your positive comments, so pleased you found the video helpful. Yes you are right I could have treated the lawn and cut it on a lower setting prior to scarifying. Thanks again Mark

    I have just purchased a similar machine but although it suggests it can be used for aeration is it suitable to use before re seeding or should I use a different device for that purpose? The manual devices I have seen seem to create plugs in the soil that go deeper than this machine will do.

    • @EasyLawnMowing
      @EasyLawnMowing  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, I use this machine before reseeding last year and it did the job just fine. The blades will go down around -15mm so works well for lawns that do not need a deeper aeration (plugs) and that are flooding etc.

    Fantastic Review! I'd be interested to know how this compares to the Hyundai HYSC1500E Scarifier that you did a review on, currently debating between the two of them with the price point not being to far apart.

      Hi, to be honest I could not really recommend one over the other. I think the VonHaus may just have the slight edge as it seemed to "dig in" to the surface a little better than the Hyundai (but may have been the different lawn conditions). Thanks

    Hi, thanks for the review. Wondered if you’ve used the aerator drum yet and how it performed? I’m concerned about stones under the soil on my lawn breaking the blades as I’m assuming they are not ‘sprung’.
    Thanks

    • @EasyLawnMowing
      @EasyLawnMowing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, yes I did use the aerator drum and it performed really well. The blades are not sprung, and therefore if there are stones in the lawn they will blunt the blades, but I can't see them actually breaking off. You will just feel the machine bouncing upwards.

      Dont think it comes.with an "aerator" drum....the bladed one is a scarifier......and the spring tine one is a rake....neither is a true aerator

    I'm trying to work out how the cable relied is fitted. Can you help?

    • @EasyLawnMowing
      @EasyLawnMowing  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It fits on the upper section of the handles (attached when dismantled). The wire is then looped over the centre plastic piece and secured.

    Pardon my ignorance.. I thought it was the blades that scarify?

    • @EasyLawnMowing
      @EasyLawnMowing  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The tines on an electric scarifier are primarily designed for raking and performing a more shallow scarification. They help to remove thatch and debris from the surface of the lawn without cutting too deeply into the soil. In contrast, the blades penetrate deeper to provide a more aggressive scarifying action, which is beneficial for promoting healthy grass growth. If you have any more questions or need further information, just let me know!

    How do you put your seed down and top soil after aerating your soil? And do you use a hose to water the seed into the soil afterwards? Thanks.

      Hi, below is a link to a video that shows exactly the process I use and works extremely well. Just be sure not the substitute the Jack's Magic for any other compost. They even sell it in the Range, if you want to purchase locally. Hope this helps th-cam.com/video/-SKX0EpH22g/w-d-xo.html

    Hi, what do you think about the Gardena Powermax 42E, in my opinion they are one of the best lawnmowers, even better than Bosch. If you have better suggestions, can you recommend a powerful lawnmower, I want something like 1d00w, and with a cord

    • @EasyLawnMowing
      @EasyLawnMowing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi. I have not tested a Gardena mower, but will try to get hold of one. I have used some of there other products and they all seem to work well and are good quality. Please head over to the easylawnmowing.co.uk website. The power of the electric mowers is shown on the picker tool. Thanks

    In all the othe vidios I've seen they refer to the solid blades as the scarifier

    Hello, really appreciate your video's. I'm struggling to choose between the Vonhaus and the Hyundai 1800 2 in 1's. I'm tempted by the three year warranty on the Hyundai (vs 2 on the VonHaus) but the Vonhaus has the larger bag of course. Any thoughts that might help? Thanks

      I should say as well my lawn is large, damp, somewhat shady and therefore prone to moss so the aeration to help draining is important to me.

    • @EasyLawnMowing
      @EasyLawnMowing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi. To be honest you will most probably need to remove the bag on whatever model you choose as the can never cope with the volume. Unless there is only a little moss/thatch in the lawn. Both will make a good purchase and are of equal build quality. Let us know how get on. Thanks

    Are spare time rollers available separately? The tines broke off my old one. (Different make) and they weren’t available so have to throw it away because of that.

      Hi Lyn, as far as I am aware you cannot purchase the tine roller separately, which I know is a shame.

    Totally disagree about the hard part is using the "powered" machine....i will guarantee, by a country mile, that raking and collecting a large amount of debris is absolutely the hard part...... it is exhausting work...

      Thanks for your feedback, yes I understand where you are coming from, I just feel that raking loose grass on top of the lawn as opposed to trying to rake the grass out of the turf is somewhat easier.
