Mario 128 became Pikmin. It was all about testing and showing the system's ability to have large amounts of characters moving around at once. That's what they meant by "it's more than just a demo".
And they succeeded.

1:30 At the time, Shigery Miyamoto say in a interview that they switched to new cartoon art style and and more kid friendly tone because Nintendo knew many other developers would create adventure games following the steps of OoT and MM, so Wind Waker had to distinguish itself from other games.

That's so typically retarded of nintendo. And totally unsustainable. You'd have to hugely mix up the entire formula or apperance after every single successful game. Let's also not forget how arbitrarily nintendo applied this logic. Every dev and his brother put out clones of mario kart, but nintendo kept pumping out basically the exact same game over and over because they knew they could do it better than any of their competitors.
Scott is a tech demo of the potential us humans can be, but aren't.

I remember being bummed about that Zelda demo becoming Windwaker, but still pre-ordering it because it came with the Ocarina of Time Master Quest disk. Nintendo really knows how to make me spend money.

Last week I wanted to play it on my 64 but my controller died so I launched the oot disk from this wind waker release on my gamecube and I seen that you can choose "classic" or "master quest", and yes they had a great idea, because n64 controllers often didn't aged well, the stick is dead, I tried mario 64 with it and it's like an hardcore mode ...

1:23 Fun Fact: During the development of Wind Waker, they wanted to have a mechanic where Link ages over the course of the game. Meaning that if it had went through, the final boss would've looked like the tech demo. Unfortunately that was scrapped, because it was too ambitious for the Gamecube's hardware. Also, the room where the tech demo took place is still in the game and you can see it with a gameshark.
I think 128 was perfect. It proved the GameCube’s power to have loads of 3D models, just like it was supposed to, and then evolved into cult classic game Pikmin.
It also became Super Mario Galaxy, another classic. I wonder how may demos become not one but TWO games

I remember the good old days when every time I played kinect on my 360 a certain end of my couch would be recognized as another player and joined our game and we never figured out why. We literally had our couch running with me and my brother in levels.

I love seeing references to the FF7 remake in some of Scott’s earlier videos. Because at that point in time, a FF7 remake was beyond belief. Yet here we are. And it’s actually good too!
And as a good modern remake it has around half the content of the original

I am sorta surprised you used a clip of the Kara Tech Demo in the intro, without actually showing the demo off and mentioning that it was the inspiration for Detroid: Become Human.

Well, they have already said that it was going to be in multiple parts in 2015.
So, I was genuinely surprised when people thought it was going to be the whole game when it came out.
Anyway, thank gawd the Remake was great! I was kind of skeptical about it at first since this is a game that I already know what is going to happen. So, a flashy HD upgrade might get old fast but thanks gawd they added tons of new content and new story points whilst still maintaining the original story.
@@lorenzolyleabadia1669 Right! I got it for "free" through my playstation plus subscription, and I am so glad I did. I wouldn't have dropped the 80 to get it retail, since I wasn't convinced it was going to be very good. Expected it to feel like a nostalgia milking cash grab. But not only did I like it, I was so captivated by it and its rendition of the world that I was emotionally invested and so sad to reach the end. When the next part drops I'll be all over that, lol.

My personal favorite tech demo continues to be the Kara demo for PS3. Fun Fact, I showed that demo to my mom when it first came out and by the end of the demo she was tearing up.

Actually, that Wind Walker originally planned to use the same art style of the tech demo. However, Nintendo decided that the GameCube Zelda game should use Cell Shading and should show off the GameCube’s water rendering.

One of my favorite "playable" tech demos is Pokemon Snap on N64. The game looked absolutely amazing visually and really pushed the N64 to the limits in terms of visuals!

The Kara tech demo was demonstrating the engine used in Beyond: two souls and we eventually got Kara in Detroit a gen later. Is the Kara tech demo a far comparison as to what you would see the engine do in Beyond?
