Worth expressing my point of view that the ACT party (conservative libertarian), who won about 10% of the last election, but are part of the governing coalition government and put forward this bill, express it as equalising the rights between all races in New Zealand, putting it in terms that are kind of logical and easy to agree with but dance around the historical breaches of the founding agreements between the crown (England) and Native indigenous peoples and the subsequent societal inequities that Māori face. If you look through his argument and framing of race, the probable reason for bringing this to debate despite it having little chance of passing (the major lead party in the coalition vows they won’t support it past first reading/vote), is that they want to slowly weaken public support for Māori rights as part of the treaty that specifically inhibit foreign and private enterprise control over natural resources, if not at least erode the status quo of strong environmental and Māori guardianship considerations that the current treaty principles afford.
The maori today are integrated members of modern society and as such have accepted the implicit social contract of modern society, they are not living as Maoris in any meaningful sense, certainly in no way that resembles their ancestors, therefor they are not entitled to any special privileges above that of other citizens. No society that values justice promotes certain classes to higher status based on their racial/ethnic identity. What made sense in the 1800s does not make sense today in the year 2000.
Or it's just acknowledging that we're a very multicultural country and no one deserves special privelages above others based on race/ethnicity. The Treaty itself didn't even promise many of the privileges Maori have today. We've just allowed our institutions to falsely interpret the Treaty for several decades and now some of the more activist types are kicking a fuss because they got too comfortable to the special treatment and want more.

Молодцы! Всему миру взять бы с вас пример! Молюсь за коренное население новой Зеландии!
What in the kfc, p pipe, 99 cent energy drink, WINZ, social welfare, benefit is going on here??😂😂😂
Some very far left probably because it doesn’t make sense.
Doing this elsewhere shall not be perceived as threatening- but only slightly baffling
lucky they didn't do it elsewhere, but did it somewhere the cultural context was both appropriate and well understood
Definitely cool tho
I am not from New Zealand, but can I vote for her? This woman has World Leader written all over her
gave me chills
So did Covid 😂
Man I’m not Māori but that made me so proud to watch
Wish i was a part of it , the energy!!!
I don't understand what is the meaning of her action.
The only thing I can see is that such an action of the anger, rage, hostage & hatred is supposed to scare her enemy.
Is she in front of her enemy or HER CO-PATRIOTS? Is she the ONLY patriot in NZ?
Maori people rights
Basically she is racist. She is protesting to other Maori who say racism is bad.
The use of the haka is well established as a form of protest stretching back for many decades, this isnt difficult to understand even without prior knowledge of its use in previous protest actions.
@@danielgyte8460 yea but not in parliament as a protest interrupting another elected person's speaking time. It is anti democratic and racist
All power to the Maori people. Power to all who fight the colonisers. 💪🏾👏🏾❤️💪🏾❤️💪🏾❤️
If the colonizers left the Maori to themselves the Maori would still be living in huts
I mean.... they did fight... and lost badly
@@tedkeenan3341 the truth is too painful, easier to pretend it's not true
This is my daughter whenever I say her to study😂😂
“Say” her to study 😂 please just don’t you teach her, we need the brightest future we can get
Warriors

Some people think its scary but this give me great energy. Love you dear Maori people from Turkey ❤ and l am so glad that Queen standing with Palestine

Beautiful powerful
Brought tears to my eyes
Embrace imbecility
Where was this bravery during all of the lockdowns?
It was tempered by common sense to stay indoors. Māori had enough sense to stay home.
@ lol no way you actually believe that staying indoors helped? I have a bridge to sell you

Haka chant translation = "Government, you are merely a visitor here!" YESSSSSS!!!!!!! [Native American ancestry. Cherokee & Blackfoot]
YESSSSSSSS!!!! STAND UP TO FASCISTS EVERYWHERE THEIR REIGN IS OVER!!!! I am so proud that she is in my generation!! Brought tears to my eyes! ~Olivia (Gen Z from USA)
Will you apply this standard to immigrants living in Europe? Of course not😂so why should it apply to New Zealand?
Exactly! When the government said every human being is equal in merit and the law should reflect that, she stood up and proudly said that her race is superior to all others.
Gen Z, it shows 🧏🏻♀️
Epic!!!💪🏻👏🏻❤️🔥
New Zealand parliament. The Musical well choreographed
The best parliament. If we had same parliament in Central Asia. We would be strong and rich country. I love her she is very strong and brave. Respect to Hana-Rāwhiti Maipi-Clarke. I would like to have her in our country. Well done where she supports her citizens.❤🎉
Love and respect from Poland
insanely cringe
This is funnier than the office. This is considered a real country 🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂🤪
Highly regarded and disrespectful comment
@ Thank you!
you'd be a yank no doubt, with Elmer Fudd as prezzy
This was the best angle I've seen yet. I didn't even see the guy on the far left bottom in other videos. Music to my ears. ✊✊✊
this is why native Americans were wiped out
...and we maori never will be, but we want to share and enjoy, but not be trodden on....or we will fight back.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 *5 year old stares at a mirror* "HAKA-HAKA!"
We as an Indonesian, salute and respect to the people who uphold their tradition highly. That lady should be the leader of NZ
I wish we would act the same way in our parliament in Spain ❤
Who? 😂😂😂.
There are not native indiginous in Spain.
Ask the Catalans or the Basques in the North.... They may help...
@soulstar2401 Are they indiginous? I had never noticed it before. What a ridiculous comparison!. Do not compare an oppressed indiginous folk with the richest regionsn of Spain, please.
@aniballopezgarcia1994 It doesn't require a lot of browsing the Internet to find out that they are indeed indigenous! My comment is meant in a sarcastic way, as we all know that both of this ethnic groups strive to preserve their cultural and linguistic independence and have done so in more or less disruptive way!
What's that
Kon kon India se dekh raha hai 😅😂
😂me
This gave me chills
I don't understand what's going on...
Maori tribal tantrum
They’re using voices that we’re only yelled outside in the open air by their tribal ancestors. In civilized society, people need to use their respectful indoor voice in parliament.
Basically she is a racist grifter. Getting annoyed that other Maori think it's wrong
❤❤❤
