    Congrats with Eevee . She's so pretty and clearly very very smart. What's also clear is that she loves you. You can tell by the way she looks at you when your asking her to do something. I've been retraining former racehorses and pacers/trotters for over 25 years. And there is nothing better when they start changing for the better because they have the right person to understand and love them. Like your little Eevee I've had horses that were three strikers and given up on by everyone . One who people said would kill someone one day.... He's so gentle now you know what he does when he's not busy with his show jumping career.... He loves his second job at RDA. This is a horse they were going to destroy. And why because he had a fear of men (he'd been seriously hurt by a number of men in his short life by the time I got him at 5). But as a female he was perfect around me and now I have done fantastic with him and he's one of my best performance horses. And now he even lets my grandpa put his rugs on . My grandpa an ex jockey loves horses and often helps me with my retraining work but due to the fact he's 85 he no longer can ride (arthritis makes it too difficult) he loves to groom and rug or saddle my horses for me when he visits. And I'm thankful for him .
    Never give up on a horse. Some just need a bit more time or a bit more tlc than others. I don't give up. Couple of times I've wanted to but I won't . I know deep down they are good horses.
    Chriss from the UK!!

    Saw you out with Isidro Espinoza in Arizona or California on TH-cam. Big fan of his and loved what you did here. I actually live in South Carolina and there is literally almost no one really training Mustangs here like in Florida. Would love to get into this but need a bit more experience. My son and I just built our stables and facilities so looking for a couple of broke horses to work with first and work our way up to the Mustangs. They are such beautiful horses and such a huge need to rescue and train them and help them find forever homes including staying with us. We have 65 acres so a decent amount of room. Thanks so much for sharing and the inspiration!

    Listen, I think you worked well with this horse and I'm glad she is doing well. But you really shouldn't be riding a 3 year old filly. Young horses' bones arent fused until 5 to 7. So they really shouldn't be ridden until around that age. You risk slanting her back before she is even an old mare. But, I still think you did well with her otherwise.

    • @daniellecrowley684
      @daniellecrowley684 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Also depends on how heavy the training is. The rider was petite and appeared to focus on a lot of ground work in conjunction with some riding. However, I think she only had a limited amount of time to train the horse for the Mustang Makeover. Ultimately, she saved this horses life. 5-7 is pretty late to start riding a horse (breed dependent), I know a lot of people who wouldn't buy a green 7 year old. Great work with your Mustang!

    • @glassdragonmedia
      @glassdragonmedia 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@daniellecrowley684 I still stand by my statement. Groundwork is always good, starting with older weanlings. However, as for riding, even if the rider is petite, if they are healthy that is still over 100lbs, plus the weight of the equipment. As for time constraints, I would still argue in favor of horse growth health. I, myself, have yearling horses, almost 2 year olds, and I plan on sticking with groundwork until they are an appropriate age to start them. There is a lot to work with just on the ground, and everything you accomplish with your horse on the ground can be done better in the saddle when the time comes.

    • @devyndaisy5162
      @devyndaisy5162 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You need to ride young horses. 3+ is perfect. They have proven that their bodies will change for riding positively if they are ridden. As long as the work is light its fine. The older they are started they break down more. Also just because they are still growing doesn't make them weak or more likely to be hurt. Most horses are started at 2-4 and live long ridden lives.

    • @glassdragonmedia
      @glassdragonmedia 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@devyndaisy5162 sorry, but I just don't agree.

    • @daniellecrowley684
      @daniellecrowley684 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@glassdragonmedia, you must not know what the "Mustang Makeover" is. It involves Mustangs that usually have no chance of adoption, the trainer has 90 days to start them, they're then auctioned and hopefully adopted.The trainer doesn't even get to keep them unless they outbid everyone else. Essentially, the people buying them would never had considered purchasing the horse, but because of the training, they're offered a second chance of having a home. Finally, I've never seen a horse trained at 2 that had any issues in the beginning or in retirement. It all depends on the training.
