@techyescity Started watching you 10 years ago when I was 14, now working at a local repairshop repairing and building pcs. Thanks for the content, I’ve learned a lot over the years! ❤
Heads up!! That power supply has a very beefy 5V rail with 40A output. That makes it extremely sought after for retro builds using Athlon and Pentium III or older systems. Were you to remove this PSU and market it correctly in a retro PC forum, you could probably get 50-60AUD from that piece alone. Something to keep in mind in the future when dealing with older power supplies. It actually has great ratings for use as a retro machine.
It would be sought after if the listed ratings are true, which I can pretty much guarantee they aren't. I've been in the business for over 20 years and have seen enough cheap power supplies to know that the specs have been faked. A quick search on the Interwebs also shows that these aren't quality units. Comments from different forums regarding iCute's quality: "iCute PSU's are rebranded from Ultra which are not good." "Replace it as soon as possible. Budget PSU's are sometimes a danger to the rest of your computer components." "Should I replace + iCute PSU = Yes, do. Before you regret it!" "Yes, get rid of that piece of garbage quickly." "be warned: icutes are infamous in my side of the world for being hand grenade power supplies. dont use it for anything critical or expensive as it lacks proper working short circuit, overvoltage, overcurrent, overpower and overload protection"
@@cdnron75I've similarly been in the business for over 20 years, and I've also seen many cheap power supplies. This is more likely to be able to power an Athlon 1GHz system with a GeForce 4 Ti4600 than a modern power supply with a 10-15A rating on 5V. Furthermore, I can find people saying negative things about literally any product by searching the "interwebs."
A month ago, a dude came in with a similar-ish old spec'd PC for repair. With a f***ng Noctua D15. Yes, the full size dual fan. Worth more than the rest of the PC. Apparantly used for music production. We told him to keep the NH-D15 sell/donate everything else.
I once paid $5 (yes, five bucks) for an old 775 based PC (with some components missing) just because it had a Scythe Ninja 3 in it (in perfect condition I might add!); still one of the best bargains ever!
Hell this case with the 200mm fan slot and 8 drive bays is a rarety today! Everthing is built to revolve around RGB and gigantic radiators and tempered glass.
Depends on what you use it for. I rock an i5 12400f and a 3060TI n feel like I already need a upgrade. My son wanted to play forknife and some other garbage like Roblox and battle bit. I spend next to nothing on a T1650 computer from dell and modded the case to take a bigger GPU, popped in a better PSU and built him a respectable PC with a Xeon 1230 v3 and a rx 580. The build cost me around $200
Battlebit is good, though. It's like Battlefield made by Battlefield fans, with all the problems of modern BF games fixed. Roblox can be good depending on whose game you're playing. I recommend Dream Thief. What do you need an upgrade to do?@@HardWhereHero
If that PC was used for basic PC tasks and light gaming there's no reason the previous owner wouldn't think it was working fine. Most people don't check power supply specs and run Heaven benchmarks. Could've been a cheap PC they bought used just like you did, but they didn't have the knowledge to know there were any issues. Also do you sell PC with undervolts and various BIOS changes? What if the buyer ends up resting the BIOS for some reason or reinstalls Windows? The changes you made will reset and it could go back to crashing/overheating. When I used to flip PC's I always tested and sold them with stock everything to make sure they were stable at a baseline.
Same here. I run a system completely stock and stress test it at stock to make sure everything works. Undervolting and BIOS changes to stop it from overheating is not a proper fix. This video gives me used car salesman vibes.
I just love this series hopefully this one goes all the way to the end! P.S: very surprised by the frozen unigine heaven being due to underpowered PSU, if you're trying to draw too much the PC would just shut off and likely you would hear the fans just go full blast.
I love these videos. I love that you're just buying stuff and then flipping it, and NOT stating that you're doing a flip up challenge. I see loads of dudes on my local FB market that try and sell stuff and in the description say something like "FLIP UP CHALLENGE! WANTING TO SELL OR TRADE FOR SOMETHING MORE EXPENSIVE" they're essentially just begging. but not you!
Yes!!, The series is back. I'm excited wiiee!! Ever thought of setting up a Steam caching server at home for when you test PCs with games? That way you don't have to wait all night for games to download and if you set the server up with a 2.5GbE NIC, you can pop another 2.5GbE card into a PC, transfer games fast and then take it out to use on other PCs later down the line. Just a thought.
IMO this is the best content out there. I hope that this gets interesting and that you pretty soon get to a 2 PC in one video money. That is why I started buying and flipping PCs.
I love these builds - there are previous "Seasons" that I started watching, but can't find the episodes of those earlier seasons that started really well. Am I missing something, or did those builds just never evolve to completion? Regardless, I hope to see a lot more of these - thanks for all of your hard work. We genuinely appreciate it.
Is that friend an iPhone collector who's also a drummer, has a pet named Frank and looooooooves cashies? hahahaha Dude, this series is AWESOME, I need to put this to practice locally (Argentina) to see what I can come up with!
Same I would have forgot about the monitor, mouse, keyboard(that keyboard would have been 100% no go for me), and salvaged a better PSU even if it was only 50 to 100 watts more.
Normie doesn't know what a psu is and it doesn't impact their buying decision. They see they get a monitor, working input units and a pc as a combo is lot better in an eyes of a normie.
@@Jinny-Wa Most of the time that's the case. I was looking at it from the perspective of a seller though. About that pc. As far ,as i can remember, that huge fan shoud have leds. If they not working,it 20 fps less..... 😂 And them settings in Afterburner - the woud survive until the Windows reinstall,or Afterburner. Same as with the BIOS, unless you locked it. I wouldn't go this way, Brian.
