    The single plug motor will work in any 07-09 dual plug bike I know I have done this swap before with all the 07-09 wiring ECU throttle bodies and O2 sensors you must change the coil plugs and run 03-06 coils All you do is change the coil connector to 2 large female spade and 2 small spade connectors it runs great with no codes first try

      No major changes need to be made. Sergei @mad8vcycles just made a video about a pigtail adapter for dual plug coils to single plug but other than that. It’s pretty straight forward. I’ve parted out a couple of SV650s that had dual plug engines in single plug year frames.

    I have a 2009 Sv650s with a 2005 motor in it. It's not idling well but besides that its okay. I found out that it could be from having the extra spark plug wires capped. What are some ways to go around it? Swap to older ignition coils? I have the 09 motor still. Could the 09 head be put on the 05 motor so it can have both spark plug holes?

    • @PASSIONBUILT
      @PASSIONBUILT  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’m not sure. I’ve never heard of anyone having a rough idle when having dual plug / non dual plug engines swapped. The cylinder heads are interchangeable. There is a company that makes a harness so you can use your single plug coils. Sergei at Mad8V cycles came across one on a parts bike a few months ago.

    Any chance you would know why my 03 sv650 smells like unburned gas when idling. Changed plugs and air cleaner is clean. But still have the smell. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

    • @PASSIONBUILT
      @PASSIONBUILT  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      As I mentioned in the video. The 07-09 models came with the dual plug design to optimize fuel combustion to help with the unburned gas. However, if you have an aftermarket exhaust system. It could cause issues with your factory tune and may cause your bike to run rich explaining the unburned gas smell. Any modifications done to the bike?

    • @a1chuy
      @a1chuy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PASSIONBUILT Have not. But the smells is coming from the exhaust. When idling at a stoplight my brother who sometimes rides with me, tells me he can smell gas.

    • @PASSIONBUILT
      @PASSIONBUILT  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gotcha. I guess it just sounds pretty normal. Like I said. The 2007-2009 models got that revised cylinder head to optimize the combustion process which helps reduce wasted unburned gas. A lot of these SVs that I part out do smell a bit rich but that’s usually because the exhaust has been hacked up or the bike has been modified. If I was you. I would just double check under the tank for any possible leaks but if none are found and your bike is running good. Don’t worry about it and enjoy your SV 🙂

    I've swapped an 07 motor into an 04 frame all you need is the wiring harness to match it

    • @PASSIONBUILT
      @PASSIONBUILT  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah that’s why I mentioned the harness differences. But the main point I wanted to get across is that it’s not a direct swap for someone with an 03-06 model. They would have to source a harness as well and that is sometimes not as easy.

    I heard the single SP heads make more power. Zoran...I have a 2012 DL650 and like making power!

    • @PASSIONBUILT
      @PASSIONBUILT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Everyone has their own opinions between the 2 engines. I’ve heard people say that they dislike the dual plug because it runs tougher than the single. I’ve heard people say the duals make more power. In my experience with the amount of SVs I’ve ridden. They all feel almost the same. If you blindfolded me and put me on a bone stock single plug and a bone stock dual plug. I couldn’t tell you which one was which. I’ve owned a 50k dual plug that felt crispier and just as fresh as my 10k mile dual plug bike. I’ve rode 30k single plug bikes that feel super healthy compared to a 15k single plug that felt tired. I’ve ridden a couple that have had the cam swap upgrade. I feel like they’re all very similar and the only differences that can be truly felt are SVs with power mods and SVs that haven’t been maintained properly.

    Any one know if a flywheel -magneto from a 2003-2007 engine would fit a 1999-2002 engine..

    • @PASSIONBUILT
      @PASSIONBUILT  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It would technically fit but there is no reason to swap magnetos unless you’re putting a 1999-2002 engine in a Gen 2. If you were swapping an earlier model motor into a later model or vice versa. You would need to transfer some things such as that flywheel and magneto.
      Are you on the market for a Gen 1 magneto and flywheel but can’t find one?

  • @ThaoElden
    @ThaoElden 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    And I'm curious do you think a second gen motor would fit in a first gen frame if you had the harness to go along with it?

    • @PASSIONBUILT
      @PASSIONBUILT  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gen 2 engines are a direct fit to the Gen 1s but you need to swap your magneto, stator, thermostat housing, and intake boots. There’s something else I’m forgetting but it can be done without swapping harnesses. Just need to transfer a few parts from the Gen 1 engine to the Gen 2 engine.

      Side note. With the Mo Power Baby reference. I actually had an interview with James Pumphrey and the producers of Donut Media to be a host on their channel. Unfortunately, I just got an email last week saying I didn’t make the cut. But out of over 3,000 applicants. Myself and 37 others got an interview. So it was pretty exciting.
