- Every year around this time I like to share my GoPro minimalist travel and adventure kit for when I need to pack light. This is my 4th edition for 2022. Although this kit is small it has everything I need to capture life's adventures in a small package that is easy to pack and travel with. Everything that I pack in my minimalist GoPro kit are things I will use on a regular basis for both personal content creation, vlogging and even if I am filming some content for my TH-cam channel.

Great vid! When you were referring to “hardcore minimalists” I had a flashback to getting kicked out of the “vegetarian club” when I celebrated 6 months as a vegetarian with a bacon cheeseburger and duck fat fries. 😊
Minimalist is what works for each individual. Your kit is fine, in my opinion!

Great video, gives me some ideas for my little travel kit, will have to look at adding a mini power bank have a large one that don't fit my pack.
Yeah, there are some really good choice power delivery, micro power banks, that work well. Even the 5000 mA just enough to top everything off.

You could add even MORE into the carry case?
Take the mic mod off, put the GoPro10 in the underwater case?
Put the batteries in the charger and fill the GoPro mod ‘void’ with the batteries/charger.
Now you can put more equipment in where the charger and batteries were?

This is pretty much similar to what I carry in my Casey. So yes, very good advice to those just putting their road kits together.

Thanks for sharing. Almost identical to the contents of my case. Just wish it had a way to hook a shoulder strap. Car mount for B roll vs your waterproof case. 2nd GoPro with the media package is no brainer. Extendable mono/tripod for me.

Hey Shawn! Your kit look's great - a little bit bigger than mine, but it works for you and that's all that matters. My only addition is an OTG microsd adapter for transferring 360 footage to my Android phone or tablet; its so much faster. And, I did switch-out my Max's lens covers for silicone ones with little tabs on them that protrude from the camera body (they're easier to remove). FWIW, I charge my Max's batteries in the Hero's two-battery-charger-dock thing; obviously, the Max batteries are narrower, but they do seat against the charging pins and charge just fine (same battery chemistry, pin configuration, and charging voltages).

Wall plug chargers? Or do you keep them separately.
all looks nice, except the red filter. it is an overkill for the 10, if you shoot in flat you can easily add the red in post. Not to mention gopro software is quite good - at 30 m depth you can see the red in the videos.
That microphone can be attached without the media mod ? Please let me know

Really like your setup and how compact it is. Finding I’m bringing way too much “stuff” when I leave. Nice to have a grab-n-go setup.
I can relate, Sometimes when I’m going on a weekend getaway or road trip I pack enough gear to fill the backseat LOL

For a week in Iceland I had my GoPro in a waterproof case, charger/cable, 3 batteries, 3 memory cards. Carried everything in the thigh pocket of my cargo pants. I'm not a pro videographer, so it's all I need.

Looks like you switched from the Handler (2020) to the Nu Grip (2021) then back to the Handler (2022) … can you share your rationale for your decision to go back?

I bought a gopro volta. got rid of powerbanks, extra batteries, charger and the tripod stick mount in one go.

I have the GoPro hero 10 it’s awesome
I would add a small ball head of some sort to connect with that buckle mount so that you’d an get interesting angles with the magnetic clip. :)

In my little drone bag I keep my osmo pocket in I keep a spare memory card for the just in case and also a card reader.

Ideally you'd have the Enduro batteries for the HERO10, as you'll get longer runtime from them. I just don't think you can them in Canada yet (bare lithium battery shipping rules, or something).
Indeed I’m still waiting to get my hands on some. I’m assuming they’ll be popping up on the Canadian Amazon over the next couple weeks. I haven’t checked Best Buy or Henry’s I sometimes get them earlier

Yes, indeed that’s how I primarily use mine. They offer good durable protection. I’m out my GoPro on RC cars all the time the flip over. The housing keeps the GoPro lens and screens protected.

Indeed I actually love that case. I just thought for minimal travel it was just a little bigger than the Casey. Especially when I need to pack a couple days worth of clothes and camera gear into one backpack. But it is what I use when I need to pack my mini 2 as well. 👍

What would you say is the best gopro grip for waterslides? I'm going on holiday in May and want some good videos both facing us and away. I'm a beginner with gopro's! (I have the hero9)
I would say the GoPro handler is your best bet. Plus it has a built-in wrist straps to keep it secure. I use that handle when water and even just doing every day filming it’s a nice little grip

What’s your most used mount I like using the shorty.
Yeah, I do use the Shorty quite a bit as well. Also, the handler just has an every day handle.
What do you bring to charge everything? (e.g. what charging brick do you pack?) At a minimum, you’ll need something to charge your power bank.
Yes I should’ve included that I use the anker Nani USBC charger. To charge all the devices including our phones
What size memory of SD cards do you recommend for a week long vacation?
Really it’s going to be different for everybody. I would say it’s safe to assume 128 GB is plenty as long as you’re not doing a lot of extended recording. Myself and on holidays are usually just tend to grab little clips and little moments. Of course he could play it safe and go to a 256 GB card but I always recommend having a spare, in that case, go with two 128 GB cards or just have a 64 GB card as a back up
Help! You're my favorite reviewer. I got the Gopro Hero 9 Black, The Gopro Media Mod and Light attachment cause of your reviews. Can I use any "1" of the usb-c cables to charge camera, light and also Gopro remote?
Yes any standard USB-C cable can be used to charge the devices. So if you’re traveling and taking your camera you only need to pack one cable for charging

Are u using the hosing of the GoPro 10 with polar pro hero 8 filters? They have the same housing?
No it’s different housing but the filters still fit

Were do you story your SD-cards / no extra's ?
Yes indeed I always bring a few extras. The pocket at the top can hold all kinds of extra cabling and little bits and pieces

I have not read or come across any rumors about an updated model as of yet. There might be a refreshed version this fall
No Enduro Battery at 2022 kit? It give me lots of time withe my motorbike scenario in winter ☃️
Unfortunately I cannot purchase Enduro batteries yet in Canada. Gopro can’t ship them over the border for whatever reason. Still waiting for them to become available on Amazon hopefully in the coming weeks

I saw only 1 charger. Does it work for both GoPro 10 batteries and GoPro Max batteries??
No that charges only for Hero10. I didn’t have a Max charger packed as I won’t use it as much so I’ll just charge it up via the camera body

It used to be available on Amazon but I don’t think it is anymore. However, Insta 360 sells one that is almost identical. Search on Amazon for it and it should come up.

Yeah it’s a separate purchase it’s not the case that comes with the hero 9 or hero 10. It’s called the GoPro Casey

Unfortunately they’re not available on Amazon yet. But if you go to the Powervision website I do believe you can purchase them there. Insta360 is selling something very similar now

Why did you go back from the moment case?
I like the Moment case, but I found it was just a little too big for overnight or we can trips where I’m only bringing one backpack and that has to fit my clothes, essentials and camera gear. I figure for a minimal kit the Casey is the best fit. Now I still use it if I want to bring a mini 2 with me Because it fits in there perfectly.
No drone for your minimal kit!?
Not in this particular kit however depending on where we’re traveling to I will use a slightly larger case and pack the DJI mini 2
