For everyone saying Issei took the first round: Victor responded to 3 major moves from Issei and added some stuff
For the first round:
0:20 (Issei's slide elbow spin landing on the beat)
1:03 (Victor's baby freeze on the beat without impressive transition. Perhaps it is the only beat kill for Victor in the first round?)
Compare 0:36 and 0:59 (Issei's 2000s kill the beat, Victor miss it)
Compare 0:42 and 1:17 (Issei's move kill the beat but Victor's response does not)
Victor's responses do not look better than Issei's move and they are not on the beat.
To conclude, Issei got robbed.
Lucas Chau it was 4:1 with the judges. I’m gonna put my trust in them they are judges for a reason. You don’t know what they are looking for when they judge.
Lucas Chau If Victor could do what he did, then that just goes to show that it doesn't take much skill. Victor had great responses and you don't always have to kill the beat every round and base your decision on that, that's idiotic and poor judgement. You base it on skill, technique, cleanliness, favor, etc. That 2000 didn't look clean from Issei (even though it was on beat), it was like he barely had control over it after that transition
Lucas Chau Plus, the music changed during the end of Vic's round. How do you expect him to kill an entirely new beat? A response doesn't necessarily mean that you have to be on beat as well, it means that you can do that move too, so that's no big deal or you can do something like that move that's similar but better than what the other person did

Victor is really such a complete bboy, flows on the beat and it shows how much better he is than Issei right now. If Issei didnt worry about his dynamics/power combos so much and focused on his footwork, toprocks/downrocks and musicality, imagine how good he'd be. He should try and link up and train with Bboy Babylon or Katsu-One or something, shit would be sick.

I'm saying if your fanboy crush Issei relies on a certain few wack generic breakbeats to "dance well to" than it proves my point that he's just a breakdancer and not a bboy. Bboys adapt to the music not vice versa...With that said, even if the generic breakbeats were played, Victor hits those beats as well or better than Issei. Any shmoe can "hit a beat" here and there. This battle is evidence to how Victor continues to prove why he's always been much better than Issei. Issei has ELITE dynamics and power (albeit not very original as far as Im concerned), but he struggles vs elite B-BOYS who can more or less match his dynamics and power, but slaughter him with style, footwork, toprock, creativity, musicality like Victor does.
Issei smoked Victor at Red Bull BC One 2016 and last year’s Undisputed, so I wouldn’t say that Victor is much better than him
I tend to agree with your sentiment, that's why he tends to struggle against bboys like Thesis and Menno. But, I think what he has over those bboys is his musicality. He's a master at killing the beat and he's steadily been improving his down rock and top rock. Issei is definitely become more well rounded as he's gotten older. Another thing that seperates him from most bboys is his consistency, he does extremely well in every tournament and he's clean af. Every bboy has a style that are weak against, but Issei's musicality and consistency are what makes him the best bboy in world imo.
Big deal. No one ever goes undefeated...Sometimes power and dynamics is all thats needed to win a big stage event. But it is undeniable, as far as bboyism goes, Victor is amongst the few setting the trends for the rest of the pack to follow
I agree, like I said every bboy has a match up weakness. Victor and Issei are defintely the best bboys when they are at the top of their game. Victor is more creative and matches up better against Issei, but Issei is more consistent and can beat more styles than Victor.
