Thanks for the video. I just downloaded VLC Video Player and it works great. I had converted an 8mm film to VHS tape and then burned it to a DVD.
I have windows 10 and it would not play the dvd. The original recording is 46 years old. Thanks again.

Bought the new Color purple Video on Amazon. I have not been able to get it to play on my Dell laptop, Windows 11, VLC 3.0.20. I notice the lights on the external DVD drive when I INSERT the dvd but the MOVIE does not start. HELP please anyone.

I sometimes have to watch long study webinars on my Mac and want to continue from where I left off on my Windows and vice versa on my Mac. I back up my files on one drive. I would try uninstall and reinstall VLC. Also, do other platforms play the video in full screen?
why when i take a photo on my VLC Media Player IT HAS STOPPED PUTTING THE PHOTO IN THE PHOTO FILE ALL I GET IS A GREEN SCREEN INSTEAD OF THE PHOTO
I found one type of file that VLC will not play, although it did play it several versions ago, but not since the last number of updates, and that is a ProRes 4444 master file. Unless it's because I'm still using a several year outdated operating system on my Macbook, for compatibility with a particular 32 bit app, but I don't think that is the issue.

I love VLC but it has downsides. If you are creating automatic screenshots, they are all in one folder. They should make it so that the screenshots should be saved in VLC and a subfolder. The sequential numbering shouldn't start with four zeros and timestamping should be allowed when sequential numbering is not checked. The creator of VLC fails to implement suggestions such as these. An example of screenshots being saved to VLC and a subfolder would be this: C:\Users\macke\Pictures\FreeVideoToJPGConverter\ whateverthefile (that is what dvd videosoft free studio does).
I figured out the problem for the screencap directory. It appears in scene filter and it shouldn't.

@@ChrisMenardTraining I figured out the problem: The directory for screen shots is in 3 places with in VLC. Scene Filter being one of them and the one that actually works. It should be in Video when you first go to Video preferences... not in 3 different places. I made a comment about it on the support forum and in their coding forum.
Does the VLC show if all the audio channels I formatted example(5.1) are being used of I run it through the VLC?

Hello Chris, I volunteer for an Aviation Museum and would like to create a batch file which would start VLC after windows 10 loads and then execute the loading of 3 videos to be played in a loop. I know that may not be possible, but maybe you have a suggestion. Thank you.

What is with the garbage of changing your default search engine to install VLC? You cannot install VLC without giving them insane permissions, forced extensions, and overriding your search engine
What about hdr and Dolby Atmos support?
You can try telling VLC to force detection of Dolby. That sometimes gets it to work: Preferences / all / Audio / Force detection of Dolby Surround / On
Can you load/copy a TH-cam video with this? I want to load some YT videos to take with me to watch when I get to my destination which does not have internet connection...
