7:44 I got to see these guys live in concert. They were INCREDIBLE. They shredded SOOOO many bows. They had stacks of bows all ready right by them so they could quickly replace them. I found that amusing.
2cellos and The Piano Guys got me into learning cello/viola. Check out Piano Guys Jackson 5 meets Bach. another of my favorites of theirs is This is Your Fight Song. so good.
I play the cello and what you said about the composers music they played at the start... They wrote that themselves. I actually happened to meet them on tour once
Their live stuff is amazing! If you want a laugh, check out the official video of 2 Cellos and Ling Ling doing "live and let die" and also 2 cellos on 1 cello "every teardrop is a waterfall"
This always reminds me of Marty McFly at the end of Back to the Future. The only thing missing is one of the saying maybe you aren't ready for this, but your great great grandchildren will love it.
No, you wouldn't get a copyright claim on Mozart's music. His compositions are in the public domain. Edit: Well maybe from the performer, but not from Mozart's relatives.
What I find a lot about everybody else his reaction is they never point out the bows are actually getting destroyed you know they had to go through several of these and these things are not fucking cheap they cost a couple hundred dollars also the resin that you have to put on them while not very expensive they had to go through a lot just so it wouldn’t shred so many
I remember years ago seeing a video of two cellos playing Smooth Criminal and while I am not sure it was this duo it was amazing. Definitely cool to see this too! Love it
The video of them playing Smooth Criminal was the song that made them famous. They joke in interviews saying that they uploaded it, went to the toilet, came back and it all of a sudden had a million hits.
Rest assured... Vivaldi was a priest. No copyright from any surviving relatives (that we know of) for that Cello Sonata. ;P Even if it WAS a Mozart piece at the beginning, his 2 surviving sons (out of 6 children) died single. Beethoven? Died a virgin, and estranged from his family.
I think shredding came from playing so ferociously and fast with such long and fast paced solos that you'd cut your finger tips up, shredding them and getting cuts on a guitar.
There are some great string covers of Metal. Apocalyptica covering Metallica's One is epic. Also anything by Tina Guo, the electric cellist who played in the Wonder Woman theme - you should check out her video for the Wonder Woman Theme. Tina Guo also does a lot of other great stuff you'd probably recognize - the Dragonborn theme from Skyrim for example. Cheers!
2 cellos is amazing! But just imagine how much more epic is 4 cellos playing heavy metal? Can't wait for you to check out the SuperChat for Apocalyptica (who started as a Metallica cover band) playing their metal songs with 4 cellos and 1 set of Drums. Are you ready for that?
Nice one OSN, like several people have already mentioned you should check out Apocalyptica. They actually toured with Sabaton on the Great War Tour and collaborated in several songs. Fields of Verdun, Angels Calling etc, worth checking out. Keep them coming. Abraço de Portugal
Both of them had solid careers doing straight classical music, and were considered rivals. A producer put them together to do a cello duel (to a Michael Jackson song), and they realized they were onto a great thing. Too bad they aren't doing more together.
they have had four (at least) solid years of touring through the world on their own and before that opening for Elton John and recording five albums. Luca is now a three-time father and covid has thrown a wrench in their touring plans. Both - Luca and Stjepan - are still pursuing solo careers and collaborations with other artists and also do classical concerts in between.
hey OSN it wasn't the hoo .... oops wrong Sabaton comment.. Have you heard Swedish Pagans live at Wacken (Feut Tina Guo) .. since you like the sound of Cellos so much...
If you like 2cello's playing AC/DC, then you should check out The Danish National Symphony Orchestra playing the theme music to "The Good The Bad And The Ugly"... They're awesome, and they shred too...lol!
if you love this try vivaldis winter by dark moor ! you will flip out and definitively realise metal and hard rock are made for classic and classic can easily played like metal ! btw love your vids man
They don't use real horse hair for the bows anymore. I know this because I made the mistake of posting a generic "X horses gave up their tails for this performance" comment on their video, which got upvotes, which then got me corrected repeatedly. Kind of like misidentifying the classical composer from the beginning of this video. 😁 EDIT: Also, that wasn't HMS Hood. 🤣🤣🤣
this isn't true. horse hair is still very commonly used in bows. My bows have horse hair. Horse hair is also very common in artist's paint brushes. And while kinda funny, its just hair and their tails do grow the hair back. they probably don't even take the entire tail. might be something that is just a byproduct of routine brushing. A well groomed horse gets brushed every day. Like humans, their hair comes out in the brushes.
Hey, anyone who can't tell the Hood from the Prince of Wales!.... Everyone forgets that the Hood was firing at the Prinz Eugan specifically because those two German ships looked very similar from a distance, and that they had reversed order in their line from when they had been seen the night before (because the Bismarck had damaged her own radar firing at the Norfolk.) Glad to be the naval nerd who is enjoying what you're going through! ;-) I love 2 Cellos, and this one if just fun as hell! Now check out PTX doing Bohemian Rhapsody if you like these cross-genre gems!

Funny how you say it's an "older AC/DC" song when to me it's a newer one... since it's 1) post Bon Scott, and 2) from their 1990 album. But things get funky like that when a band is only two years younger than I am.
Cello is definitely a challenge that can be fun! It has great potential to be soulful or haunting, or playful. Also, I doubt you're a true a-hole. I see a compassionate heart, playful parent, and supportive friend.
Actually, the bow won't make a sound unless the musician applies rosin to their bow. It's dried tree sap that comes in a cake. These guys are pretty violent with their bows but I think some of the broken bow hairs are part of the drama. I've played many a two hour concerts with maybe one or two broken hairs.
They can play it live, but not like this if there's only 2 of them. It's pretty easy to tell that there are at least 3 cellos involved fairly early. But you can only do so much. 🤣
OldSkuleNerd did you know that that was not the Hood (spelling correctly?) And yes that would be an amazing tshirt. Or Yes I am human, I do make mistakes. Keep up the great work.

Can’t be that hard to play cello?!? There are seventeen ways you can go wrong before you even make a single note! These guys are genius.
Scientifically speaking a Cello is closest to a human voice and that's why we like it so much.
I did not know that; I'll have to look into that a bit. Thanks for that interesting tidbit!
I absolutely love the transition between classical and rock on their songs
I've watched many of their videos and love all of them. From one vet to another, much love bro.
They are absolutely worth seeing live. The energy seen in this video matches what you get at one of their concerts.
