I am so indecisive right now. I got a 17' R3 as my first motorcycle at the end of 2019. I am so happy with my choice and I am trying to keep the bike forever. Obviously I am ready for something bigger and something ready for long highway miles. The 2022 Indian Chief Dark Horse and the 2020+ HD Low Rider S are the main two bikes I am looking at. My insurance company ruined my dreams of owning a Yamaha MT 10 for my second bike as the insurance is almost triple what I got quoted for the Low Rider S. One day I will own one but for now ill be happy with one of these beautiful cruisers. As for the two, the Chief Dark Horse definitely has my eye with the 116 along with that very nice dash. The Low Rider S refresh came out for 2020 and good lord I want it so bad. Yes, the Indian has a much better dash versus the tank mounted gauges on the LRS. At some point I figured, who cares about the gauges. With both bikes, id get an exhaust and wont need to look what RPM im at, since i'll hear where im at. I am very stuck right now. Both bikes are almost impossible to sit on because of stock levels. The new Indians are even harder to see in person since Indian needs a preorder to even send the bike to the dealer. I am very excited to test these two bikes out and see all about the cruiser life. Thanks for all the great content. Im always excited to hear what you guys think. Cheers.
the turn-in is center of gravity... every Harley i've ridden holds the weight very high, whereas the Scout Bobber I owned and the Chief Vintage i own now both have the weight very low, giving them really great handling compared to weight. for an 825-850lb bike, i can play around with my Chief as though it were a much lighter bike.
@@BaronvonOldenBiker cool you know what i rode... i've always loved how just being on the internet gives people infinite knowledge. i've never ridden a touring Harley.. i've ridden a sportster, a dyna, a night rod, and a softail deluxe. they all felt like they had half their weight just under the gas tank. if they fixed that with the M8 bikes (*cough* bullshit *cough*) then good on them... only took just under 120 years. edited to add: let me amend this and say the night rod didn't suffer the problem quite as bad... but i never really got a good feel on it's handling characteristics anyway because after they made a decent decision to get help from a company that knows how to build engines, some nutsack put that beautiful, amazing gem of a boat anchor in the worst possible quirky-ass frame, and then when they decided to actually make it look good a couple years later with the night rod they fucking LOWERED a frame that was already low. the piece of shit scrapes pegs just wiggling it side to side on a straight road. one of a handful of decent engines they've made and they fucked it up on that garbage. so yeah, TLDR: fuck Harley and anyone that defends their idiot business decisions in 2021.

I think the matte red makes the bike really sexy, but I'm head over heals in love with my Challenger. Indian did good with carrying over the Victory DNA in their bikes that XC riders like me missed until the Challenger.
It would be greatly appreciated if Spite spoke to how he fits the bikes as a tall rider. Would you recommend it for tall riders? It would be cool if we could see how you look on the bike as a tall rider.

Victory owners know Polaris has been making good bikes for years and with the Indians are just getting better and better. (Actually they made them since 2011-edited to include date. )
@Steel Horse Around, Polaris didn't make Victory bikes, Victory made them. Polaris bought Victory and killed the line, in order to use the iconic Indian name.

I’d try the new Street Bob 114 and the Standard if ci on a cruiser don’t matter as much. I think they make the best of the new Softail chassis. Dyna feels more comfortable as rider geometry goes imo but it just sucks at highway speeds and doesn’t even come close to how the Softail feels in a corner. I don’t think it matters which one you choose but they match up so perfectly that it really comes down to personal preference. I’d say the one thing I’d give the Chief over the Street Bob/Standard is not having the big ass primary sitting a foot behind the engine. I’m really not sure why Harley still uses that design. Me personally I have no interest in the Low Rider S because of the cost. I’d take a Road King over that all day.

@@yammienoob I respect that. Since most of you guys are sport bike or naked bike riders it would have been great to see your perspective on the changes they made to the ftr 1200.

test drove one this weekend, pretty cool. pull houses over with that thing. and it did feel way lighter than it is. all indians are like that though. i never been on a Harley other than a 883 though...so not sure how it compares.
Apart from wire wheels (which, if tubed, I'd prefer *not* to have) and forward controls (that I could very easily add), how is the Chief Bobber different?
The sweet spot of the 116 is engineered bor 2900 rpm but my Roadmaster Dark Horse is really around 3050, 3100. Sport mode definitely kicks, even with the fairings and bags.
I bought sight unseen worried it would handle well “for a cruiser” but it honestly flicks about and feels much lighter than significantly smaller cruisers I’ve ridden. It just handles well in general.
FTR can go along way such as "First To Ride" - "Fun To Ride" - "Fierce The Ride" Love the bikes but not sure if I wanna give up my 2008 1200 Iron Sportster custom made with custom paint job Harley doesn't have on their line..... I bought this bike a month after my father passed away.....
I got the first FTR R Carbon in Belgium !! also is it just me and my OCD that cringes over that left indicator sticking out forward? or is that camera angle?
I bought a scout two years before they came out with the Chief... I still love my Scout, but if I knew then what I know now, I probably would have bought an old beat up Harley Sportster and waited for the Chief to come out. *Sigh* One day I will have a Chief.
Slap on better pipes and I’m sold! Only question is the extra money for the dark horse vs the base worth it. My guess yes but I haven’t rode one yet. What’s your opinion?

Nice bike, but RIP Harley? Not yet anyway. You kinda hit the nail on the head at the end: If you don't want to customize it, and you just want to have fun on it, it's great. I would also add that you need to live near an Indian dealership because they are few and far between, and that would be huge if you're planning a trip away from your home dealership.
We will never know because this channel has never even acknowledged the existence of the new Softail line because it doesn't fit their narrative that all Harleys are garbage.
I was about to pull the trigger on a 2021 Lowrider S.....until the new Chief was announced. The specs between the LRS and the Chief Dark Horse are nearly identical and the Indian is $1000 cheaper and has that slick Ride Command gauge. the turn-in is center of gravity... every Harley i've ridden holds the weight very high, whereas the Scout Bobber I owned and the Chief Vintage i own now both have the weight very low, giving them really great handling compared to weight. for an 825-850lb bike, i can play around with my Chief as though it were a much lighter bike.
YES you finally did it!! im in love with this bike, bought it last month
Just picked up my chief on Saturday, absolutely love it!
Got mine 2 weeks ago and already have 540 miles on it and did my 1st oil change. I cant stay off of it!
@@BlackbirdSSR that's awesome, which one did you get? I got the ruby smoke chief. I'm only at 200 miles so far.
I got the Chief Dark Horse in Stealth Gray. I already added the Stage 1 Forward Air Intake and have the Solo Seat and Forward Controls w/floorboards on order.
@@BlackbirdSSR I'm jealous as hell. I plan on getting the forward controlls and either the mini apes or the medium handlebars. I'm 6'2" so I feel like it will help a little. Then eventually a stage 1 or 2.
@@brandonmunson2414 I'm 6'2" also. I'm going to add 1.5" riser extensions to lift the bars up a bit. I test rode the Bobber version and really liked the height on those mini-apes but I like the look of the drag bars better.
NIce video man, thank you very much! How does it compare to the rebel 1100?
Check out Brandon’s or Blockhead’s review on the Stage 2 Dark Chief, much nicer in sound dept Spite
I usually watch your content on my iPhone and what I’ve noticed is that your videos are a bit hard to hear, can you fix that cuz I love your stuff my dude. Thanks for your content, I really like what you come out with, stay safe.
Put a deposit down on a new Chief Dark Horse 7 weeks ago... can’t wait for it to arrive!
I think the matte red makes the bike really sexy, but I'm head over heals in love with my Challenger. Indian did good with carrying over the Victory DNA in their bikes that XC riders like me missed until the Challenger.
it would be nice to compare this to the 2021 harley davidson softail slim.
Hell yes. I waited for this very moment. My body is ready
It would be greatly appreciated if Spite spoke to how he fits the bikes as a tall rider. Would you recommend it for tall riders? It would be cool if we could see how you look on the bike as a tall rider.
What do you consider tall? Im 6'3" 200 pounds athletic build and i rode one. From the factory it was cramped, change the seat and bars (or at least adjust the bars upwards) and you should be ok.. bobber is the way to go lol
Fits the tall but looks compact. Tall guy cruisers: xv1900, vn2000, m109r...
I agree!
Polaris bought Victory in 2011. They produced them until 2017 when they changed the brand to Indian.
@@SteelHorseTexasTwangExchange sorry I wasn't trying to sound like a know-it-all, I just meant that Victory bikes were also around before Polaris made them.
My cousin owns one, a big touring bike, and he absolutley loves it.
@@SteelHorseTexasTwangExchange They didn't change the brand. They stopped production of Victory. They were the best bikes on the road. They bought the Indian name because they knew the margins would be bigger. Nothing they make is close to a Victory.
@@socal5564 beats me. Polaris wasn’t original, but they made Victory from 2011-2017. They are made at same factory location, Spirit Lake, Iowa.
I rode a Indian Scout and it feels a lot like my Victory.
If I was buying a new bike I would buy an Indian.
Spite and Yam can come to Illinois and ride my 2021 Low Rider S and try that out.
Recently rode one. In sport mode it’s pretty freakin peppy. Got the front wheel up more than once.
I’m aiming to have a new chief be my second bike.
Hey quick question. When you fools gonna do the 2022 ftr 1200? Way behind on that.
Edit: Why does Yams keep jump scaring me after every video now Imma put up cameras in my house
We're not a "new bike press outlet" - not interested in reviewing the newest bikes as soon as they drop
@@yammienoob I respect that. Since most of you guys are sport bike or naked bike riders it would have been great to see your perspective on the changes they made to the ftr 1200.
One of the nicest looking bikes in my opinion
How come you guys never test ride 2018+ Softails for comparison? Seems like you always use Sportsters or the Touring bikes as the Harley comparison bike.
Love the cruiser boy giggle while revving the engine in the tunnel.
I own the super chief. First bike I have owned that actually made me giggle
test drove one this weekend, pretty cool. pull houses over with that thing. and it did feel way lighter than it is. all indians are like that though. i never been on a Harley other than a 883 though...so not sure how it compares.
Can you get these with an analog gauge? Not into the digital TFT screens on classic style bikes.
I have this bike and it's worth every penny. Surpassed every expectation
Mat not have any shake and rumble but when you hit a bump in the roadway you’re back neck and spine will definitely feel it.
I bought a 2020 Honda Shadow Phantom 750cc first bike for my self
@spite which bike do you prefer: Indian dark horse or HD Low Rider S?
I am trying to know what that event is in Texas. Anyone knows what the event name and location are?
Haven’t read all comments, but I’m guessing he didn’t have it in sport mode.
do you feel buffeting when on open roads at higher speeds ?
Have you ever ridden a big bore Japanese twin. I'm kinda getting your saying they don't have any umph??
I feel you man, I love “dyna” style cruisers but I hate how they handle! The new chief really has me interested.
I bought sight unseen worried it would handle well “for a cruiser” but it honestly flicks about and feels much lighter than significantly smaller cruisers I’ve ridden. It just handles well in general.
Do it. I bought mine without test riding and love the way it handles
Great review. I'm trying to decide between the triumph bobber and the indian scout bobber for a mid range commuter. What should I go with?
I was choosing between those same 2 bikes a few years ago......I went with the Indian but honestly they are both great machines.
Best thing about this ride....no cars around!
Thunderstroke is what yammie calls his alone time...
I'd love to hear what Josh thought about the FTR. I blinked and he flung that thing past you.
Of course it's all torque, it's a big V-twin. Nature of the beast.
Am very interested in this bike being my only cruiser. Hope I get a chance to ride one soon. Glad you guys finally posted a video about one.
So now how do you like it compared to the new Stortster S?
Can we NOT have touch screens on motorcycles?
I wish that there were events like that up here around Memphis.
Memphis is way too ghetto for anything decent
Slap on better pipes and I’m sold! Only question is the extra money for the dark horse vs the base worth it. My guess yes but I haven’t rode one yet. What’s your opinion?
Off topic but m curious
Does a speedometer count while u wheelie? 🤔
Hey guys I’m looking for some advice. I want to get into bikes but I’m a big dude. 6’ 2”, 360 pounds. I want to start on something like a KLX300sm, but I can’t find info on whether it would really be good for a big dude or not. Thanks.
Got a brief demo ride on that bike at my local dealer. I still prefer my Scout Bobber. It just feels faster, and revs way higher. The Chief is physically bigger and a bit more comfy though.
I ride a harley street bob 114 and even though you shit on Harleys I still watch your vids. BTW my harley rips around corners. It's one of the few crusiers thats leans pretty well.
Ayo what do y’all think about my adventure of bike riding ! I started off with a 110 pitster pro and two years later I got a 140pister pro and I had that for awhile than when I was 16 I bought my own crf450r and than the next year I bought a 2007 klr650 and now the same year I bought a 2000 Yamaha vstar1100 custom bobber!!
So Spite how does the Chief compare to the Scout 60? Since you guys had one of those for a hot minute. 🤔🏍️
Is it just me or does it seem like the turn signals are mounted a little crooked?
It's not just you.
OCD triggered! I noticed that too 😁
@@rottweilerfun9520 I thought maybe it was the wide angle on the lens and the gopro was mounted to one side or something...🤪
Yeah definitely push Yammie to have that bike as your next project!!!!
So glad he shouted out shade tree, gotta love bike motovloger culture
Is it better than the new-ish Lowrider-S tho?
We will never know because this channel has never even acknowledged the existence of the new Softail line because it doesn't fit their narrative that all Harleys are garbage.
@@jadeviper1290 harleys are garbage tho, you buy the logo on the side not good quality bike.
I was about to pull the trigger on a 2021 Lowrider S.....until the new Chief was announced. The specs between the LRS and the Chief Dark Horse are nearly identical and the Indian is $1000 cheaper and has that slick Ride Command gauge. Also I qalafied for Indians Loyalty program which got me $500 off!
I got the Chief Dark Horse in Stealth Gray, had if for 2 weeks now and its def the best bike I've ever rode!
How can I look up events like this in the Phoenix area? I'm really interested in a new bike, but I don't want to fill out all of the paperwork dealers require to test ride.
Type into a search bar "Indian Motorcycle Events."
