Not familiar with them but I assume they’ll have an updated sensor (maybe CMOS instead of CCD) but if you like the pictures and the compact camera form factor, they’re a good option
I don’t think there is a modern equivalent anymore. The compact digicam segment has been supplanted by smartphones. Even though photo taking ergonomics are worse on phones, their sharing convenience and connectivity supplanted purpose-built compact digicams.
The pictures you’ve taken are saved on the SD card next to the battery. If your laptop has an sd card reader just pop the card in there otherwise you need to get an inexpensive external sd card reader that plugs into your laptop via usb

A big maybe but the Sony RX 100 or on the pricey range the Ricoh GR iii could be seen as comparable, but certainly not size and sensor
