The biggest difference besides cartridges from the 80-81 and the 82-85 is the 82+ have an optical speed sensor that makes micro adjustments to maintain proper speed resulting in much better wow and flutter than the 80/81.

Really enjoyed this review! Have been flirting with the idea of adding a Fluance deck, and found this super informative. Cheers! 🍻

I just bought this for my son. If I get the preamp, can they be connected to any receiver with speakers?

Great review! I love my Fluance RT82... I like to change cartridges out quite a bit so the S tonearm and bayonet head shell are perfect. Using a 1979 Audiotechnica LS500 cart mainly and the turntable handles it well, not to mention it is dead silent in between tracks. I did get the bamboo plinth, nice satin finish and looks fantastic. I also swapped out the 2mm rubber matt it came with for one of my 4mm thick Technics matts to facilitate the shorter cartridge as there is no vertical adjustment, but hey, pretty minor.

Maybe I missed it, but did you purchase this set, or did Fluance send it to you? This is important to know for your viewers.

Oh shoot I edited that part out. Fluance sent the rt83 and the powered bookshelf speakers to me for evaluation, I purchased the PA10 preamp on Amazon myself. This was my first experience with their gear and I put in 10 hours of playing on the system before reviewing it. I don’t get paid for any of my reviews I do so my opinion is non biased and I only review stuff I like. If it’s trash I send it back :)

I’ve owned the Fluance RT81, 83 and 85 and have loved them all. Terrific looking and terrific sounding turntables at reasonable prices. I’d highly recommend them all.

Awesome video man. Most comprehensive I've seen one one of these. I have the 82 and you answered some questions I've had about the build and quality of the components. Stay well!

Great review. Is the dust cover completely removable or does it just flip open? Sometimes during long listening sessions I like to have it off to eliminate any vibrations.

I saw this same package but with the RT85, which I've owned previously. The package has the RT85, the PA10 preamp and the Ai41 speakers for $857. After watching your review, I'm seriously considering ordering that package.

If you get the package get a powered sub too it makes a huge difference. The speakers have a passive sub out

have read that these turntables are more lifestyle turntables not audiophile turntables

    • @Music-for-Miles

Not the case, they sport the 2M blue on the upper models with acrylic platters with super low noise belt drives which paired with a high end preamp and stereo can be insanely clean. The entry level models yes I agree but RT83-85 can be audiophile grade.

I've been debating between the 81+, the 82, and the 83...about to pull the trigger and I think you've sold me on the 83....any opinion between these three?

@@michaelsj7968 Only difference 82 and 83 is you get ortofon 2m red on the 83. Just got the 82 and may update cartridge later.

Highly disgusted by the company behaviour trying to charge me a beyond overpriced amount of money for a stylus guard... we are talking about a piece of plastic... paid 950$ to that company and the design of the stylus guard is doomed to get broken in little time.
Contact them and they tried to milk me and sell me the guard for an unbelievably high price...NOT OK! Not my fault if your plastic part broke after few times had been used!
Shame on Fluance! Lost a loyal customer!
