That was fabulous Cliff. Very lovely trails with awesome views. My fave part was the train just loved that. Thanks so much for taking me along. Please stay safe
Great video !!! Just watched the tulpehocken trail video 2 days ago. When you stopped to look down at the river and the bŕidges, you was about straight across from the fort augusta site. The bridge in front of you, takes you into the town of northumberland. On your viďeo of the tulpehocķen trail, youmentioned the fork of the river is where fort augusta was built. That fork is also almost in front of you also. It is some beautiful area for sure. Again, great job on the video !!!! Stay safe, and God bless.
Yes I remember seeing the profile of the Indian Chief. That was very cool. You had some Gorgeous views at this State Park. Was also fun catching the train across the bridge. Enjoyed it Cliff, thanks!!🥰
That place is Awesome. I used to go there all the time. There is more to the park across the river where the West Branch of the Susquehanna River confluence is. There is a Butterfly garden, a nice path, the marina and a great view of Chief Shikellamy.
So we were there about 2 months And if your standing at the overlook. There is a hawk nest just below the cliff ledge on the left hand side. When one of the Hawks flew in towards the nest it looked like it was coming right at us. It surprised my boy and I. Was really neat
Yes, that is Route 11 below you. I have lived in and around that area for quite a few years now.The other part of the park is down at the river...the train tracks drive through it, well, actually over it. There are picnic tables and pavilions, boat launches and docks too. It's a beautiful place to gather and walk. Sadly, the overlook part of the park has had a reputation as a place where male predators tend to hang out. It's not a place you want to be when the sun goes down. During the day, it's a lovely place. Thanks for sharing your adventures. Happy hiking.
Use to run US 11 a lot. What I noticed that the river was smooth as glass in that section. Would see a lot of rowing (crew) activity. When Cliff mention he wasn't getting a breeze made me remember that. Where the rowers coming from the park where the train was?
@@samanthab1923 On Google map found "Central Pennsylvania Rowing Aasociation" located in that state park. Further down river is "Northumberland Boat Club" I know I just answered my own question. I always thought it was a college activity also. My granddaughter was on her school crew team, so I always thought of her when I saw the boats.
Can't wait till you visit the state parks up in Lycoming & Potter County that I frequently visit while I stay with friends up there about 5 times a year. Little Pine State park, Upper Pine Bottom State Park, Cherry Springs State Park, Lyman Run State Park, Hyner View State Park,.
Another trial with a good feel to it. The lower part was woodsy beautiful but in this one my favorite part is parallel to the river. It's hard to find one with a river view on one side and on high ground with a few overlooks.
The Indians in that area used a cave at the park which had a tunnel going under the river coming up behind fort Augusta. Tunnel collapse so the state closed the cave as well.
I recently learned of the old tobyhana artillery range from the 1940's. Have you ever walked through there? Ill be checking it out soon with hopes I don't trip over ordinance!
How are you doing on your 121 parks? I finished my 121 this fall at Keystone. I write the parks dept once a week to talk about the conditions of the parks emphasizing a single issue. Since I'm not much of a trail hiker, if you have concerns or recommendations about trails, I'll pass them along.
@@thewanderingwoodsman7227 have u been to western PA yet? I think youd love the Allegheny Portage railroad site..Theres a beautiful stone bridge called the skew arch bridge from the 1800s nd then the old lemon house which was an old hotel for people to stay who got off the train there...Nd theres more ruins also..

Great hike Cliff!!! I enjoyed the scenery at the overlook and on the trail!!! Love seeing the train!!! Thank you for sharing!!!
That’s a great overlook👍🏻
I was born in Sunbury. Most of my relatives live(d) in Sunbury, Northumberland, Selingsgrove, and Shamokin Dam. Love seeing the area.
Cities always look better from an overlook.

Jay Fokner That was really nice of you, thanks. Always such a nice sight to see, rowers on the river. I'm on the DE & there is a club over in NJ.

That's a really pretty town
I saw my house. How I love my small town of Northumberland
Ive been here a few times the outlook is pretty cool. I found a geocache down the road
Sure is beautiful

My cousin got married five years ago at Shikellamy State Park !
The Indians in that area used a cave at the park which had a tunnel going under the river coming up behind fort Augusta. Tunnel collapse so the state closed the cave as well.
There’s actually two sections to shikellamy state park....this section and a section in sunbury also known as the marina.
i was there 5 years ago

How many state parks are there? Just curious as to how many Cliff needs to visit.
121! Don't know how many he's been to, though!
Karen Dworschack wow thanks Karen.
40ish, or somewhere around that amount,

nice trail. although it was named deer trail so where were the deer....lol
at the beginning, the 1st overlook, the mountain way in the distance has 1 clear path going up it...is that a road?
Most likely a power line or a pipeline.
Up on Blue Hill
