Thanks taking us along on a beautiful ride. Quiet little towns, farm land, woods, an overlook and a mountain, those are great rides. This video was packed, long isn't bad, it can be relaxing. Only thing missing is stopping by a small diner before heading home.
Hey you made my day. I fell two weeks ago and injured the nerves in my back and right leg. In severe pain. So we are not get out much right now. This video was a blast from my past. We always would go that way up to Sunbury to get to Bucknell for Drum Corp shows. Go Reading Buccaneers. Check out their award winning shows on you tube. My 32 year old daughter was a member for years. She is a music teacher up in Tuscarora School District. Absolutely love the beautiful homes of Sunbury. We often take a joy ride up the roads you took. Thank you so much you made my day. Loved your sunglasses.
My ancestors were on the same ship as Conrad Weiser that arrived in New York in 1710. They were Palatines from what at the time was the Holy Roman Empire. It's a great story in early American history as Conrad and my ancestors were given land in an area known as Schoharie and several other communities in that area. They spent several years there before they came down the Susquehanna River and Swatara Creek.
same here with two sets of direct ncestors coming over in 1710 on the eleven ship fleet from London after leaving the Palatinate to Rotterdam and later to London and then to Governor's Island outside NYC. In 1723 they came up the Susquehanna and settled in the Schoahie Valley.

Conrad Weiser (interpreter) is my 7th great grandfather. About 6 years ago my husband and I traveled back east to PA and found out only a week before that his homestead was a State Park so we got to visit. Really fun!

That was cool! I especially liked Klingerstown since I'm a Klinger and Sunbury since that's where my mom was born and raised. I haven't been there lately but seeing this makes me want to visit. Rt 419 is very scenic with lots of photo ops. I've been to Womelsdorf to the Weiser homestead. I never knew about the Tulpehocken trail.
I grew up in Herndon and there is a marker sign and a portion of the path along Route 147 just north of town before you get to the bridge across the Mahanoy Creek. I was hoping you would have stopped there. Sometime you should check out the Ned Smith Center and the trails there in Millersburg.
At the end of Bashore Street on 501 is a renovated home that used to be a one room school house. The owner of that house told me that the road used to be on the East side of that house many years ago, but it was rerouted to the west side. There was a blacksmith shop right across from the schoolhouse which is now nonexistent. I believe the entire section from around Airport Road down to where Fort Henry Road is may be new; I think it may have been changed when they put 501 in. I met you when I worked at Dutchway a few years ago, not sure if you remember me. I'm Wilbur Hershey's grandson and you worked on his farm growing up. A series on the French and Indian War would be great. I'm fascinated by Fort Henry. I've been reading a good book called "Seed of a Nation" by Darrell Fields about that time period, would recommend it. Thanks for your videos!
Nice tour! I ran around the fields across from brown road when visiting cousins in the 70's. Still have some family there. I have a copy of "Conrad Weiser friend of Colonist and Mohawk" by Paul Wallace. You'd probably like it. There's likely a copy in the Lebanon library.

I live in Herndon Pa, this trail is about half a mile from my house. Great video, i travel Rt 501 often, its a back way into Lancaster for me to avoid Harrisburg.
I remember that truck stop you past at Interstate 81. One time I got a load while waiting there. Had to dead head to Williamsport. I debated if I should take your route or go NB 81 / WB 80. It was getting dark so I stayed on the interstates. Glad I did. Seeing those 15 MPH speed zones going down those hills. Glade you were driving.

I’ve been trying to determine if my house was near it along the path! My #1 goal right now is to find an artifact, specifically an arrow head!!

That tank was a M60A3 it was the main battle tank that the U.S. had during the 1970s and mid 1980s prior to the Abrams M1 which is the main battle tank today. I was a tanker In the U.S. Army and I was a crew member of that type of tank shown on your video. I don't live in Pa. but l enjoy watching your videos big thumbs up.

25:32 We have a stream similar to that in Minersville. It also has that orange color to it, caused by the rain running on the local train & tracks (Iron) and getting into the water. Over time, it changes the water to the Iron Orange Tinge. I think, there may have been tracks near that creek at one time ....

I wanted to know if I can make a request? I saw the vid where you went to WV, so I wanted to know if you can go do vids on 1. Cambridge Springs, PA, up in the far NW corner next to NY and Ohio, and 2. since you like to do history stuff, can you go to Wheeling, WV. Cambridge Springs used to be a resort town with several large hotels built around a natural healing spring that became known as the 'Magnesia Springs', and there used to be concrete remnants of a walkway to the spring house in the 1980s. Its probably all gone now. I have been to Wheeling many times since I am from OH, its glory is faded now, but I think it used to be a very wealthy city. Thanks

It has been said de French made it to the Shikellamy State Park: Overlook and fired cannons toward Fort Augusta; however, the balls ended up in the river below. Also, it is told the cannon balls are in the river to this day.
While standing at the Lorberry Creek spot, you were at the entrance to my Uncle Bobby's property. The gravel road straight heads up to the gamelands, while the turn left goes to his house. That creek has ran orange since I was a kid in the 80's, if not longer.
I live in a small town near Wheeling, WV, and we have a Fort Henry also. Supposedly the exact site of the fort is known, and there is a concrete memorial and a commemorative plaque, which also mentions Betty Zane, from nearby Martins Ferry, OH. A lot of history in this tri-state area. P. S. I loved your video.

It has been said de French made it to the Shikellamy State Park: Overlook and fired cannons toward Fort Augusta; however, the balls ended up in the river below. Also, it is told the cannon balls are in the river to this day.

While standing at the Lorberry Creek spot, you were at the entrance to my Uncle Bobby's property. The gravel road straight heads up to the gamelands, while the turn left goes to his house. That creek has ran orange since I was a kid in the 80's, if not longer.

I live in a small town near Wheeling, WV, and we have a Fort Henry also. Supposedly the exact site of the fort is known, and there is a concrete memorial and a commemorative plaque, which also mentions Betty Zane, from nearby Martins Ferry, OH. A lot of history in this tri-state area. P. S. I loved your video.
