Well real life tests only went up to 80°C so you were right and they were wrong.

Respect for mentioning the closed ecosystem and the closed source aspect. Most reviews of the A1 did not mention this.
If that means it works leagues better than the competition, then so be it.
Open source is too buggy and fiddly for most users.

@@chistinelane It's generally the opposite - the only ones who really have the bandwidth to mess around with proprietary 3D printing ecosystems are larger companies. They operate at sufficient scales to make it worthwhile. For everyone else, the ease of use the free offerings provide are a much better option.

There's a reason their name is recognizable. Until Bambu, they basiacally were the flagship "it just works" company. They are open source. You don't need to be closed-source to give the customer a great experience.

I have an X1C and P1S, was really hoping for a larger core XY which I think will come soon. What BL is doing though is really shaking and shaping the 3D market.

The active motor noise cancelling is now a thing on the X1. And it makes a good amount of difference.

Great Video, I just ordered mine upgrading from an old school Ender 3 pro.
Fyi, the AMS top mount model files come with a bracket that fit to the back of the machine to increase stability.
ive found that disabling the prime tower saves a ton on wasted filament.
the purging and pooping seems plenty to get great multicolor prints
Also: wasn't there an option to calculate the less waste each time?
There should also be an option to minimize the amount of purge.
I wouldnt disable it, but you can always make it smaller.
Better option would be to do colour changes inside the infil it is well hidden then
I agree Stefan Bambu lab has made another amazing printer here! What I find incredible is their part cooling , no need for massive side fans and still reaching incredible speeds and finnish! Just brilliant!
I really love that fast hot end swap! I would love an upgrade for that for my X1 Carbon, primarily for switching between different nozzle sizes, which is a bit fiddly and requires unplugging some thin cables that I’m worried will wear out over time.
Entry-level FDM printers that don’t suck have come so incredibly far in just a few years. I love Prusa machines (my only FDM printer rn is an i3 MK3s+), but I can’t recommend one to someone entering this hobby/field when Bambu’s offerings exist.
I'd recommend the Prusa MK4 I use to anyone getting started, on its own merits... but the A1 offers much the same specs at half the price! It's hard to argue with that...
Today, I might still choose the Prusa; I like having a machine I don't have to tinker with, but can if I want to. And Bambu's business model (what Stefan talks about a little in this video) also plays a role.
I agree i really like the set and forget approach especially for quick prints but there are times when i get better results off my ender 3 printer i guess that low and slow approach still has its place.@@kaasmeester5903

China is just winning, first with Crealty and others on the very low end and now with Bambulabs on the upper end, hollowing out the industrial capacity of the West. Gonna suck if China invades Taiwan in 4 or 5 years and all of them connected to the web are bricked (or worse) or at least parts become no longer available. (Of course, this goes for a lot more than just FDM 3D printers... like 90% of stepper motors are chinese, including all of those in Prusa's machines.)
Thank you for your honest review! I firmly beleve that the bambu lab printers are the new gold standard for amateurs. I'll buy one as soon as I have disposable income.
I love how polished this machine looks. This company keeps on impressing.
And at the price point, too. Ten years ago for a little less than what this is going for you could get the all laser cut wooden Printrbot, with ACTUAL BELTS instead of string! (That's not even a joke...) For the most part, it was that, or something in the thousands of dollar range.
This is just incredible.
@@chemputer The price point is "normal" in 2023. Just look at other Klipper printers like the Sovol SV07 (300 bucks) or even the updated Creality K1 (399). And all these companies still make a profit!
But some of the work is because of projects like Klipper and Voron ... which Bambu Lab often not even mentions.
As for the looks I would rather go for ankermake

I'm kind of tempted just for multi-color prints for the kids and for HueForge prints. I want my project/tinkerer printers, but I don't need every one to fall in to that category. Sometimes having a printer that just, you know, prints is a good thing!
Already placed an order for the A1 combo, since I personally don't need a bigger printing volume and could use the AMS lite as auto-changing spools. Even all the not open-source things and non-common replacement parts are still my concerns but after over 7 years of fighting with different printers, I just want to have a new high-speed machine that simply works.

I have had my BL A1 for about a week and it's put out flawless prints at super speed! One thing that I was a little surprised at was how heavy it was! It looks like a really plasticky lightweight printer but it's actually really heavy and solid! I couldn't be more impressed so far! I hope it always prints this well as it does right out of the box! I ruined an Anycubic Kobra because it didn't print well right out of the box.
Thank you for your reviews. They really help me make my purchasing decisions. To answer your question at the end, I would like to see a Bambu Labs Core XY IDEX or Multi-Tool Printer w/ 300x300x300 mm or greater print bed. Also, kudos to Bambu Labs. The CEO stated he would introduce active motor noise cancelling to the X1 series when you interviewed him a few months ago and he did it quickly as it was released a few days ago.
A true corexy idexy machine not the double markforged thing that people call corexy. Have ams support on both heads, purge one while printing with the other.
I would really like one axis extreme size - ex 3 times 256 in one direction as I have rarely needed large xyz prints, but really need 400-600 mm prints
I would have liked a larger print bed, but this will do for now, especially since the xl version will probably also use the ams
For those enquiring about the bed temperature, I just checked out Aurora Tech's video and they tested the max printing temperature to about 81C, so Bambu's own website is wrong or misleading.
you can set the bed at 100° with a little gcode mod

My company purchased a X1C for our workshop and it has been working flawlessly for a year already. It has become a key part for some tasks so they want to have a backup machine, just in case. Now I want one for myself but the X1C is a bit hard to justify for me. The A1 or P1S is the question here.
Heres a question. Are you still required to connect the machine to your network during first boot?
IMO the only good thing with Bambu cranking out so many printers is it will (hopefully) drive some more development from other companies who respect open source and support consumer modifications/upgrades. Might be hard to compete with products that are so inexpensive and reliable though.
It's seems strange to me how low they are selling these printers for. Especially considering Bambu seems to be a project born to make money, not to fuck around, which ok, fair enough, but are they profiting from this? Or is it just another capitalist big brain move to make their printers known and gather fans to then gradually get the prices up to what they should be?
There are already some Klipper options below 400 bucks available. But the Bambu hype and marketing is really on point.
And other machines like the Sovol SV06/ 07 have proven reliable, too.
But it's obvious that Bambu Lab repeats what DJI did: flooding the market and the media to become the leading producer.
Next step soon is going to be a larger P1S with the 2nd gen. tool head which could follow pretty soon because it "only" requires a bigger frame.
What I don't get: In all this years that a Prusa MMU exists or even with the AMS: nobody has come up with a similar solution yet.
@@hassosigbjoernson5738 The thing is those Klipper printers often suck and even if the hardware is good the Klipper implementation is hot garbage. They all use a severely outdated version of Klipper with awful macros and on top of that the screen is ALWAYS injecting things people dont realize. Its why you so often see people asking why their Qidi or Neptune has "lost" its Z offset - its because the printer.cfg is only half used and the screen injects its own information every reboot. I understand the appeal to open source, but closed source can be nice if you just need to print things and need them to work.
@@hassosigbjoernson5738 People from Bambulabs are ex-workers from DJI , it makes sense they follow similar strategies (since it did worked for DJI)
Releasing a full range of products isn't really "flooding the market."
I've been printing a bunch of ABS and PC on my X1C and P1S. It's awesome. I've done a couple of full bed prints without any warping. I've been using the engineering plate (no added glue or anything!) with PC and it just works. Same with ABS on the PEI textured plate. I'm trying to convince my dad he needs to get a A1 though. I think it fits his needs well! It may have a few shortcomings vs the X1C/P1S, but it's still a pretty nice offering at the price point with everything it brings to the table.
I am using the X1C for functional prints, I love it, but I have problems with warping using ASA - maybe I should try the PEI textured plate as you mention.
@@TRABWorkshop-ri4ql Hope it works for you! I haven't printed ASA specifically, so I'm not sure how it performs. Oddly enough, the only warping issues I've had is with PLA. The print that failed and failed and failed on my bambu is printing steadily and happily on an anycubic vyper right now! Ha.
One tip I saw that I do a lot, is I do a thin layer of glue stick and then rub it down with isopropyl. It's like the 3d print plate version of seasoning a cast iron skillet.
I just ordered one, thanks to a friend and thanks to this video. Yes, I used your link. I when with just one color as I'm not currently interested in doing multi-color. But I did get a few extra accessories. I was going to order a X1C, but this makes it more accessible. I do have some experience with an Ender 3 Pro... but I honestly hated that thing so gave it away.
I just got my Bambu Labs P1S Combo and printing a lot with it. For what I wanna do and also being more flexible I rather have the P1S than the A1. Great video Stefan!

Yeah for the price difference it's a little hard to justify this when the P1S exists, unless you really need two machines for some reason.
@@DreadCell-Productionsi got the x1c and i love it! The only issue i have is the fact that temps are hard coded into the machine and when i change temp on the printer it will just reset itself. Other than that its an incredible printer and im excited to see whats next from them

@@androiduberalles I chose the A1 because firstly, i didn't have either p1s or a1, secondly, I wanted AMS and the p1s with AMS is $400 more, thirdly, they both are the same build volume and relatively similar speeds, fourthly, I typically only print in PLA, so I don't necessarily need an enclosure.
I just ordered one today. I didn't want to buy an X1 or P1S. This A1 is the perfect machine to replace my Ender 3 S1 pro, and sit alongside my Neptune 4 Max. I can do small multicolor PETG and PLA on this, and use the Neptune 4 Max for larger parts, until they eventually release a version of the X2 with a larger bed size and I can consolidate down to 1 printer.
Have you used the A1 yet? What's your impression? I just ordered my A1 few days ago and it arrives Friday. I think I'll wait before updating firmwares though because on A1 they are not yet reversible, can't rollback firmware. I mention that because the recent Dec 22 2023 update some people on bambu discord mention z offset issue with petg after their firmware update.

@@BennyTygohome the A1 is 100% the best printer I've ever used. I've been printing for like 8 years now and never really realized how much I was being held back by the hardware.
The A1 really makes it feel like we live in the future. It's been running nonstop since it got here, and I'm selling both my other printers.
The only actual problem I have had is that the camera does not work. Half the time it just shows a black screen. Small price to pay for how good the printer is, but I do wish they would fix that.

I love that they went with the standard modular power cable. That was a hug mistake on the A1 mini. I looked it up, and the hardened nozzles aren't expensive. This is a decent machine if you want a bed slinger, but I guess they had to do it to keep the cost down. I love the linear rail on the X, but I'm unsure about the rollers on the Y. Seems like it's hard to get to, and I'm unsure about the maintenance.

at 9:50 you bring up IP and say we can use LAN printing to avoid using the cloud. That does NOT mean Bamboo is out of the loop, the machine is still connected to the internet. Just because you send the design to the printer over LAN doesn't mean Bamboo has not been collecting your 3D design all along. Until Bamboo clarifies why they collect everyone's private designs, I would not consider one. Other manufacturers are coming up with AMS systems of their own and they are more trustworthy.

The camera is exactly in the right place! If you go any higher, the printhead blocks the view on the nozzle, which is the most important part. And because it looks along the Y-axis and moves with the z-axis, you will always see the nozzle. I designed such a camera holder for my Sidewinder X2 and it was a major hassle. Just try to tuck away the camera cable in a way that it cannot get stuck on anything during a print...
Very few people want to watch the nozzle. Honestly, it's useless. Most people have a camera for stop motion and for catching a failure before it becomes catastrophic. That whole nozzle thing is nonsense.
I already had X1C, but this is the printer I'd go for if I'd be buying now. PLA, PETG, TPU is all I needed to print ever in my 4 years of 3dprinting, and I just tried printing ASA in X1C and it smells like a skunk's fart so not doing it anymore anyways.
ASA and ABS are very important materials. PETG can't replace those two...
Have you only been printing pokeballs?
If your carbon is still good I’d be surprised if you notice any smell.
Lol guys. PETG can do the trick and is way superior to ABS in many regards. I only do mechanical parts and I’m pleased with PETG.
Now there’s always some essential material that’s trickier to print: POM, Nylon…

Looks like a great printer, I have the X1C, and the ams is the best thing, but overall it is the best printer i have had.
My wish for the future is an IDEX printer, to save some filament waste and time, when using different material for supports.

Really love the way Bambu lab did, it would be a perfect 3D printer for anyone, even for newbie, I have more than 7 years working with 3D printer, and I felt that using the A1 just like drinking water, no manual calibration and it just work. Im new to 3D printing and mainly have an interest in printing mainly PETG. I do with Bambu had a default profile for Overture PETG like they do for PLA. One thing that really blows me away is how well their own filaments print. I was able to get Overture PETG to print with a 95% perfection/satisfaction, but the BambuLab PETG prints INSANELY fast.
I believe the AMS lite uses a spring system on the spool holder to retract filament, you lose that if you use an external spool. It seems possible to couple the spool holder to an external spool, maybe via a belt and as long as the external spool was running on smooth bearings then maybe the spring system could still work.
I don’t have an A series printer so maybe it works perfectly fine without?
The spool spring winder is likely only for keeping the rolls tidy and avoid tangling of filament. There's similar spring loaded solutions printable out there for printing from a rack. The Next Layer showed it in one of their videos, forgot which one. Attaching a big spool like in the video, not too close to the other spools is probably fine.
I would love to get an A1 as a cosplay prop dedicated machine. With how much time it takes to do multicolor prints, having a second printer dedicated to making these life size props would sure be nice, then leave my main p1s for daily printing
Same! But I think my main reason to buy is the nozzle changing system, bc p1 nozzle needs too much time to be changed :(
May wanna check out resin printers, as they're about to print more detailed prints with a better quality!

voron and bambu are apples and oranges.
vorons are highly modable and you wont be printing well without tinkering and tuning. theyre also open source and you can install or CAD just about any mod you want onto their printers
bambu wont let you change the power cable on your a1 mini. Thats enough information to let you know how unmodable and closed source they are.
I'd love to get a Voron eventually. They seem to be peak quality, fun to build and highly customizable printers.
@@FryedWater I agree you can't really compare them. I also own a P1P and i am quite happy with it's performance. One think that really bugs me is that i can't cread my own NFC tags for Filament. I think it would be way cooler if they had an open source approach.

1) why does the print head remove after the 2nd layer at the rear left of the plate to then resume printing?
2) How can we modify the fan speeds in bambu studio because even in filament + edit the speed it doesn't change anything, I run at 80% all the time, thank you very much...
What is the total front to back table space required, including when the bed moves all the way forward or back? I can't tell if that's included in the specs for printer size. Thanks!
Correction i ve heard the bed is only ACTUALLY go to 80 in REAL LIFE, not in the marketing department
I'm running 4 Flsun V400 in my shop, at less than 600 euros they are fast, good build quality, Klipper firmware and a large touchscreen (Moonraker). The only downside is that they don't have enclosed chamber and the kit they sell is awful, but you can easily make one.
However I would probably try a X1C when they are on sale, it seems a very polished product.
Unless you get a warped bed.😂
I have V400 and X1C, the V400 is very capable, but requires more tinkering dialing it in, the X1C just prints with whatever filament I throw in it.
The V400 is collecting dust, not because it is a bad printer, the X1C is just easier and quicker to use, and the ams is amazing for supports in different materiel.
Today I would probably save the money and get the P1S instead of X1C, but the ams is fantastic, it is a must have.
The bambu printers are not perfect, but you will not regret buying one.
@@TRABWorkshop-ri4qli agree ive had no major issues with my x1c and im not technologically inclined in the slightest. Even when there is a problem it takes me step by step on how to fix it. I don't regret buying it at all
@@TRABWorkshop-ri4ql thank you for the feedback. Yeah dial in is required to go full speed, I had to slow them down to 220mm/s while printing PETG to get reliability
This is amazing! If I didn't already own two P1P's I would get two of these instead as I do only print PLA+
A few years ago I bought an ender 3 pro, I knew it wasn't the best printer, but it was affordable AND most importantly it alowed me to tinker and learn more about 3D-printing, today that Ender 3 Pro resembles nothing to it's original form except the size, it is a direct drive, 32 bit bigtreetech board, autobedleveling, full metal hotend Printer, would I do this again? Yes, because I like tinkering and learning, and your videos have helped a ton, so thank you for that. But I would probably If I had the money buy an X1, with the 16-color system and all the trimmings and it's proprietary slicer, why? It's not really a machine you should tinker on, because it is already good as is, and learning is limited because you can not tinker, but I am asked to print a lot of stuff lately, so I need something of a reliable production machine which can handle a lot of stuff, fast and reliable, without the hassle of tinkering, testing, breakdowns etc....Because yes in tinkering there is a lot of failure, which isn't bad for learning, but it does tend to mess up the works, today I can honestly say that I can rely on my enhanced Ender 3 Pro, but it is still a tinker and lerning machine, not a reliable production machine, which is where 3D-printers like Bambulabs come in to play nicely, BUT if I am going to buy one it is go big or go home for me.

Orca Slicer owes its existence to Bambu Lab making Bambu Studio open source, so that counts for something. I wish BL would make their unique 3MF processing standards compliant, though.

Personally, this is the first machine that has made me consider upgrading from my old reliable ender 3. I don't particularly care about speed so the core xy machines don't have much appeal, and i mostly do PLA so the fancy hot ends and enclosures are just features that cost money for no return. I am afraid some companies like Prusa who have been very good to the Open Source ecosystem, will have a tough time to convince customers to pay double the price for an assembled MK4.
Something smells fishy from Bambu, their support is not very good as one could read all over the Internet. But on the other hand, what will happen with Prusa if Bambu keeps on releasing printers like this at this price point?
Why are you afraid? They're a multimillion dollar company. They'll be just fine. Jesus. The more comptetion the better, and honestly prusa has been resting on their laurels for far too long. It's about time an outsider kicked the nest and shaked things up a little.
@@GeneralKenobi69420 The value of a company says nothing about its ability to remain an ongoing concern. Multi-billion dollar companies that have been around much longer and have more entrenchment fail every year. Prusa has very little moat due to their open source commitment. This is a calculated risk that buys them goodwill and allows them to benefit from community participation in finding solutions to problems, but if their audience shifts toward competitors that just-work and don't share alike, they lose the benefits of taking that risk and it becomes a liability.
I would be very surprised if the employees of Prusa would characterize the pace of effort internally as "resting on their laurels". I suspect the challenges competing that Prusa has been facing stem more from a lack of focus (they try to do too much in-house, requiring them to build competency in a lot of disciplines, and they are working on too many disparate efforts within their core competencies) and higher labor costs than the competition due to their location. These are issues of leadership, not due to culture or a lack of investment in product.
As a Prusa fan, I share the concern of @TheOnlineCorner about the risks and challenges that Prusa faces in 2024-2025.
@@GeneralKenobi69420 100%, Prusa have been relying on their loyal fan base to sell overpriced machines that under-deliver for a few years now. They made their way to the top early on and got way to comfortable and eventually lazy. We shouldn't feel forced to support a company only because they did some good stuff and have slightly better morals than others.
The market needs competition and Prusa needs to improve if they want to stay relevant in the hobbyist community.
Its known in every industry. Its called agressive market seizure. With all the resources available in Asia, there will be no Western producers anymore. Ok, if we continue to buy. I have printer, developed and made in my country, and there are few projects, for entry level in my country.
Great video as always and a good printer which looking nice and useful. I am just sad that it is a Chinese company behind of it. Not a German, Czech or American ... Is it important? You may ask. For some like me, yes for most not. It has several reasons why. They took all open source know how developed by you Stefan too and bundled it into a nice package with some extras. They used endless Chinese manufacturing capacity initially build for us (mean west) with our money. Especially via Covid times when EU and USA companies had very limited access to them. Like Prusa is building machines in EU for EU labor price. They rely on vendors most of them are from Chine. Meanwhile Bambulab just goes over the corner and finds production capacity, direct live communication and short supply routes with rapid feedback. Regulations in EU are much higher and democracy also is coming at some cost. Intellectual property is handled differently in EU , USA and entire free world than in the totalitarian Chinese regime. For me all this matter, that is the reason why I didn't buy any of they product so far. I really don't want to see something like DJI happening again with 3d printers. We had good start in EU. With great guys like you Stefan it could go very far ... if ... all who can, picks up the challenge and do not let them win ...
@CNCKitchen , at 12:45 you show the printer printing lettering over a print. I was trying to do something similar but not getting as good of a finish as you have. Is that a 0.4mm or a 0.2mm nozzle that you use for it? Also, do you start the lettering layer over the final part layer or is there some overlap to "embed" the lettering into the part? Cheers.

Feels like the only reason they made another bedslinger is just to have a direct competitor to the Prusa MK4
100%, but it worked. When you now put them side by side the MK4 doesn't look very compelling. It costs more, requires assembly, and is slower, cant do multi colour, and its limited solution for doing so (MMU3) doesnt work on the MK4, and if you do manage to get one working its extremely flakey. Prusa needs to massively up their game and get their prices (and silly shipping costs) sorted out.
As a prusa MK3S+ user for 2 years, i can't find any reasons to buy a prusa over this new A1.... And at 1/3rd the price or less, its a no brainer. Linear rails, active vibration cancellation, and multi material. i think i'll be buying one of these.
Oh! I almost forgot to mention my Prusa had a 6 week lead time when i purchased it, Bambu are rarely out of stock, and sell very affordable replacement parts.
Bambu Lab finally made 3D printing a supplement to other projects rather than the project itself
Prusa did that way before they did. They made it cheaper.
And tinkerers are still going to kick and scream at the fact that its not 'open source'. when did having a tool that worked reliably out of the box become a bad thing??
@@Dahaaan I'm one of the ones who bought a Mk4 instead of a Bambu because of that. but I understand that if prusa doesn't step up its gonna be swallowed by competent freeloaders like Bambu. It happened a ton, for now the Mk4 is still a good enough proposition that I can still support my preferred horse on this race, even if I know it's not gonna finish first.
@@Dahaaan The issue is simply that they've benefited so much from the open-source community (such as Prusa Slicer) and yet haven't given back to it.
Along with the fact that their network driver is also closed source, some people are suspicious of what it may be doing - I always run my Bambu printer in LAN mode for this reason, but even then you don't know what it's doing.

As a cutting edge company, they are not obligated to give away their IP, and quite honestly i'm happy to see a company putting so much effort into a smooth user experience from delivery to print, adding high tech features unavailable anywhere else, all while setting a new baseline for affordability. That combination is a gift to the community IMO

I'm buying an A1 Combo after work today (picking it up at Microcenter) so that I can add multi-color printing to my offerings, if/when they release an XL offering in core xy I'll look at it but I'm also considering the Phrozen Arco as a bigger core xy with multicolor (300mm^3) for my 4th FDM printer

I have a Kickstarter X1C with 4 AMS units and love it for prototyping. The A1 seems like a great machine for getting kids into engineering design. It gives the same feel as an X1C for materials that would suit their projects and at a price point that makes sense.
A1 is for Kids😂? . The print quality and speed are the same like X1C, there are actually more new advanced futures in A1 compared to P1S
I think a less expensive machine for 200 bucks should be enough for kids to get into 3d printing. besides: machines that are more open and less loud should be more suited for living rooms and learning.
The X1C simply is not necessary anymore since the P1S exists.
Orders went live like 10 min prior to the launch time at least, so hopefully I get mine soon lol
We need to talk about sending multiple plate .3mfs to the X vs P. I can not send multi-plates to my P1S which makes scrolling through an outdated screen rough. Does the A1 support multi-plate?
I run huge batch prints and I like to stay organized with sets of parts.
Is it possible to print inlays on the single-color model? I mean with fiddling. Also, is it possible to start a new print on top of another print by setting current zero at the end of the last print (for lettering on panels for example)?

The more that comes out of this company excites me for the future of 3d printers. I am happy with my 7 year old MK3 Prusa that just keeps on chugging, but have to admit if I was buying today Bambu might be my choice.
As someone with an MK3 (upgraded to the MK3S+ variant now) and the MK4 as well as the A1 Mini, I think you'd do well to look at the A1 unless you're especially loyal to Prusa. I definitely want to see Prusa do well, but my experience with the MK4 (factory assembled) has been rather frustrating. The print quality on the A1 Mini is leagues ahead of the MK4 without any of the time I've invested into fixing issues with the MK4.
I was skeptical of Bambu for a while, being a new company and all, but after trying out the X1C I quickly replaced my 2018 MK3S with the P1S. Their machines truly feel next level
@@coreywardin terms of print quality mk4 is better and has a slightly edge with the better extruder. In my opinion the best extruder design in the consumer market. I am owning a p1p and a mk4.
And if a bambulab is usable in 7+ years. I am more sure of that with a prusa.
After that on time several Bambu Lab printers started printing on their own over night ... I am still sceptical with this Chinese company!
It's success is based of developments by Klipper, Prusa or Voron ... but they don't give them credit! Example: Bambu Studio. There should be a huge shout out to Prusa every time this software opens.
They are copying all developments on the market (also like the MMU) and undercutting others in price due to cheap Chinese production.

@@cheftipp Should have, but it doesn't. Even the X1C (and, I suspect due to similar platform, the P1P) isn't as dialed as the A1 Mini. My MK4 is okay, but has significant issues with some models producing significant deviation from the target print lines, creating torn looking structures (over 1mm off). It's much easier to load and change filaments on, and starts printing MUCH faster than any Bambu printer, though, and has fantastic first-layer calibration reliability.
As for longevity, I wouldn't bet against Bambu in this department despite their short tenure. The build quality of the A1 Mini is excellent, and they've used higher quality components than the MK4 in many places. I am honestly rooting for Prusa, but they need to either expand their resources significantly or focus on a smaller target audience if they're going to remain competitive somewhere. Being more expensive, more delayed, more DIY, and lower quality is not a winning formula over time.

Can you possibly point me in the right direction for the best financial option for a tablet with pen that allows me to paint files and create files ? I have been struggling with this idea because I want to create and paint files but It can be difficult to paint using a mouse
as someone who bought the p1p way back when it was 700$ I can tell now that the lineup looks much better! My main pain point with the p1p is that it is extreamly slow to change nozzels and they even solved that here. I think if the are able to have cross support on all the tools now, the different ams systems to support all printers or at least all future printers, they will be at a really good position where the buyer has a really good buying option at any price point starting at 300$.
You will be able to have at most point either a better printer or a slightly cheaper one with an ams.
If they keep going at this rate they will be able to control most fdm printers on the market.
Slow to change nozzles? It's 2 screws. It takes literally less than 1 minute.
Changing nozzles (and not the entire hotend assembly including fan/heater/thermistor) on the X1/P1 series requires those two screws, unscrewing the fan, taking off the silicone sock, unclipping the heater and thermistor, applying new thermal grease, transferring all that to the new hotend+nozzle... Yes, I would recommend having multiple assemblies on hand, but not everybody does.

4:11 Stefan says the bed is limited to 80C yet the Bambu website says 100C?
You can probably set it to 100 but real world testing hit around 80 max.

I was looking at the A1 with AMS, This would be my first 3d Printer. but torn between this and the P1S (Without AMS) - I understand the pros/cons A1 with Colour, but no ABS etc, P1S looks better and can do ABS etc (Maybe slighly older tech now). I can but the AMS later if I need multi Colour. Which one would you recommend for the 1st buy.? I'm just thinking future proofing also for now.

Waiting for an XL version. cancelled my prusaxl pre-order after i saw much footage of print quality, even the commercial from prusa that played before this video had questionable print quality in the footage. They were so not proud of teh quality they didnt even let screen shots of the builds hang out on the screen for long enough to see flaws. meanwhile i built a giant ghetto printer out of 2 sunlu S8's and the print quality on that giant ghetto contraption i built with a .6 nozzle. is putting out better prints than the prusa printer. I own a A1 Mini and i love it. works very well and puts out great quality prints at great speeds with little if any tuning needed. all the filaments i use "cc3d" seem to work perfect with default flow profiles built in. even when doing flow calibration i end up just leaving it zero'd out. Prusa i hope you have an a1 mini in your shop and you are looking at it very closely.
Would be great to compare prints that are tall on the a1 and x1c. I mainly print tall prints and bed slinger are just bad at doing this unless you slow them right down
What kind of problems do you have? I've never had an issue running 100mm/s on tall prints on my bed slingers.
I really think speed is not the futur of 3D printers, but the capacity of limiting waste. At least I hope.
Bambu Lab printers seem to be amazing, but I really try to support European companies (as I live in France) and try to be more sensitive to plastic waste. Anyway, thanks for you review, it’s always a nice to watch your videos! :)
Why? If you live in france, you already have a perfectly fine waste management system. Throw you platic waste in the bin, it gets incinerated - problem solved. If you are a member of the climate panice sect - use PLA, thats get made from corn and all Co2 emited was previously absorbed by the plant.
Waste is expected when doing multi color or material. Waste can be mitigated on Bambu's AMS by slicer options.

You mention the noise cancelling as an advantage for the A series over the P and X series, what about now that the noise cancelling in available on the X series, does that remove the advantage of the A series? Is the noise cancelling on the X series as good as it is on the A series? The enclosure and anti vibration feet on the X series definitely help to dampen noises so with the noise cancelling too (which is running on a more powerful processor so maybe they improved the algorithm), it seems like it should be better than the A series. The X series also has less mass to more around and has a better motion system so that might help too.

i feel like no one in the 3d printing space is really talking about the absolute crapstorm that bambu have created for anything resembling opensource. sure he mentioned the lack of replacements and the poop is very wasteful but no one's really talking about how whenever this printer hits is 2nd or 3rd birthday bambu could simply not sell replacement parts, right as all the older machines are needing a new extruder or new rails. what happenes when bambu servers go down due to some issue on their end or when they finally close their doors X years in the future? sure theres an SD card but even creality at this point have wifi printing. Also the fact makerworld is a 1:1 copy of printables kind of pisses me off.
Remember when Bambu's CEO said he wants to give back to the [open source] (he said Voron but i think he's a little confused what the difference is) community on this very channel when stephan interviewed him? theres nothing given, nero (a voron design member) specifically called him out on twitter about it, yet nothing.
Ill personally consider a bambu as a printer the day they allow me to replace the nozzle on my own machine and stop sending all my gcode and personal data to some server off in the CCP.
LAN mode should be fine for you to avoid the data issue. Outside that, you know that there's a bunch of 3rd party spares makers for bambu already? Reverse engineering simple consumable and mechanical parts is normally pretty easy, and a wide user base ensures that there will be a market for those parts, especially if Bambu stop supporting them. Boards and chips are normally the hard bit, but they also tend to be the bits that don't break so much. It's a bit like buying spares for your car - Ford don't open source the design for the F150 but there are definitely non-Ford parts on the market, especially for older models.

Yeah good point, they should be more like my Apple phone and tablet and computer that I can just get in and tinker with and replace parts and upgrade. Or my refrigerator where I can buy a generic drawer when I break one from any retailer. Or my TV which also has a boat load of generic upgrade parts available. Grow up and learn how the real world works. Hobbyists and tinkerers care about open source, but are an incredibly small percentage of people in the world. Probably 1 to 2 % at most. In order for a product to push past hobbyist levels and make it to mass market (which is clearly what they are trying to do) it needs to be polished, perform well, and be idiot proof. I guarantee you that right now at least 50% of the people buying a Bambu labs machine don't know about or give a crap about open source and never will, and that number is going to go higher and higher year after year. People don't want to tinker, they want a close ecosystem that just works. Where do I get my filament? Bambu. Where do I get my parts? Bambu. Where do I get my support? Bambu. What slicer do I use? Bambu. This is the gateway to mass market acceptance of any product, and that's where 3d printing companies are now. They're trying to move on from the early adopters and get to a wider market.

I was tempted to buy the A1, but decided not to buy having seen in reviews that they didn’t put a better camera into it than the poor quality on the A1 Mini. It would have been such an easy improvement for the factory to implement. Hopefully they will one day correct this defect.
Considering the cost of a 4k60 webcam these days, I have to agree. 1080p30 (and a better angle) would be more than enough to check on prints.

A1 series is not supposed to be "a tinkerers 3d printer" as can be seen from all their "Apple like" marketing. It's supposed to be a plug and play solution to make 3d printing more accessible to more people without all the downsides that tinkering and troubleshooting brings.

The vast majority of people aren't ever going to change their extruders to a custom one. These are printers for people who want a machine that works, but aren't interested in tinkering.
If you don't like that, ok. Buy something else. There's plenty to choose from.
