Evidently, you can use your own, preferred external camera connected to your PC, as opposed to the PC's internal webcam, because I've never seen such a professional depth of field on any other instructional video... You've earned a subscriber!
Ms. Meredith, I love your videos and your channel. I am a brand new youtuber just trying to get my self sitiuated. I dont think this particular video is for newbies, or maybe its just me. I love you and your personallity so I watched this video, but it is way over my head. I feel like you can devote a video for each software topic your going over. That way you can share with newbies step by step on how to use the individual programs. I personally can benefit from anything that works for androids and microsoft platforms.
The slowness of this app is my biggest challenge. How do I solve it? I did free up the space they asked me to but still!
Hey, so usually this has to do with the amount of space you have in your computer but also the amount of ram. So I have a surface and a MacBook and the MacBook was bought specifically for video and it does not slow down at all but it definitely slows down on the surface because there’s not enough space And the computer is older. So it has a lot to do with the amount of ram.
I agree, 16 GB of RAM versus the "standard" 8 makes a huge difference

This has been so helpful! We started using Descript for our podcast recording and editing a few weeks ago and I'm still learning it all. So thank you!
Question: The 'studio sound' feature is excellent, and makes my mic sound much more crisp and clear. However, it makes my co-host's voice really low and almost distorted. Is there a way to put studio sound onto just one track? It seems to apply to the whole file. If there is a way that I'm missing, I'd love some advice, or even to see a video on this!

What are the intro/outro/text overlay templates like in descript? Are there many free/paid options available?
You are rapidly becoming one of my favourite TH-camrs to watch. I like you, because you come across very genuine and real. I am really trying hard to work out how to use Descript in my workflow, but having just spent a year working out how to use DR well, I wonder whether this would be taking on too much. I will continue to watch your Videos though, as I can see a bunch of useful features I like, it's whether it would make my life more complex or help me .. :) thanks for the great Videos, keep them coming !! :)

I need help with video frame of the face, is it possible to zoom in and zoom out? When i move around in my video, i noticed bad background which i can remove if zoom in feature is available just for my camera view.., what i am presenting is fine

Any tips on how to do that zoom in and out video editing thing in descript faster? Currently they only have an animation and no way to easily zoom in on a video...
I want to record meditation for descript to edit when I am away from home what would you recommend so I can keep my kit very light . I know If I have a laptop that works with a usb mic- but If its just a phone I have to record how can descript improve the quality ? Is there a small mic that you can recommend to work with a phone / laptop ?

Thank you! That lower third was complicated to create 😥 I bought a motion graphics template for Adobe after effects and followed tutorials to edit it with my logo 😆

does it have ai eye direction correct?
I record my screen and myself with Screenflow. Then I edit it and export it. I want remove the word gaps but when I do it removes my intro and outro because I'm not speaking in them. How can I keep my intro and outro (and possibly other parts of the video where there's no words being spoken) while also removing the silence in the video?
I think you’d have to manually expand the ends of the clips that were cut. Or, when you use the remove gaps function, descript gives you a list of places in your script where there are gaps. Instead of hitting apply to all, you can select which ones to apply the removal to. Either way, you’ll still need to clean up the cuts a bit.

In Descript, you can zoom in by adjusting the height and width of the video. I had to use another program for the circle effect (screenflow) in that part of the video.
How do you upload videos from your android phone?
Hey! I just came across a problem that I can't seem to be able to fix.... Automatic thumbnails in descript.... I realised after starting sith descript that it works fine when using the first frame. Now for some reasons this has stopped working!!!
Anyone else with that problem??? 👋🏻

I'm not sure what you mean by automatic thumbnails... like the scene thumbnails in the scene rail?

I can’t find the volume slide for the music on my video. Literally just to slide louder or softer. I’m working on a laptop and the slider is not where it is on the PC
You can get rid of all filler words but we can't edit words in captions without interruption of the lector voice. Weird..

I am brand new to Descript and still navigating the waters. But the one feature I cannot even believe exists is the eye-contact. You can upload a video where you're not looking at the camera and it adjusts your eyes to look directly AT the camera! Borderline black magic... lol. I tried it and you can't tell it's been edited. Great tips, as always, Meredith!
Hi Meredith. 1 question, hope you can answer. I only need a video showing the text and tracking (highlighting) the text (like transcipting it) while text to speech reads synchronously. nothing else, its like a visual auto read noval. (like kindle whispersync a.k.a. read along, read aloud) .. so video should should whole text which fits to screen (like 1 page) but should continiously highlight the read part. Can descript do this ?

@@meredithmarsh I can not do it :) -- it only creates a video and adds the text to the screen as subtitle. I can not reflect the beautiful page view of descript web interface to the vide.o. its just a dark page video reading subtitles :(( how can I do it. ?
Will these tricks work only after taking subscription ?
I do a lot of videos for an automation solution called Zenphi. The only way for me to get Descript to pronounce it properly is to insert zenphee into the script. Is there a feature in Descript which allows me to create a personal dictionary where I can input zenphee and have it auto correlate to zenphi?
I do see a feature called Transcription Glossary but is it not very intuitive on how to use it or if that is the solution to this issue.

It was either partially or completely edited in descript. Most of the time I bring my videos into premiere for finishing touches

I tried to do this with overdub, and I get an error that says that if you overdub something with video, it will cut out that part with the video. Sure enough, when I overdubbed, that part of the video was blacked out. I have successfully played with overdub when it comes to audio only, but how do you preserve the video part of this when you are making this edit (I realize that the sounds you overdub and the video won't sync, since you are now changing the word you are having spoken).
I'm not sure. Overdub is tricky with videos... works better with something that's audio-only!
I’m almost certain they’ve shown off all of these features in multiple ways. The homepage. When looking at plans. And even after you join.

Do you have any tips on how to import or upload videos you make on your iPhone to descript? So far I've only figured out saving it to the desktop and then uploading it.

hi! do you know how to embed links in descript? like say you want to link to a Facebook page so that users can click on the logo in the video and take them there?
You can’t do that in a video… you’d have to put the link in your video description when you upload it to TH-cam
