I don't think Tesla's door handles actually freeze in winter. Some years ago they had an issue where something broke in the door handles, they've fixed it since then
Completely agree with Cory on the front grille. I saw one today here in Massachusetts, and with a front license plate it looks even worse. Genuinely looks like two buck teeth with a front plate on.
the front "grille" is similar to the Cadillac Lyrqiq with that "self-heaing" properties upon light rock chip damages from driving around. also interesting to see the heating elements on the "grille" to melt snow build up on the place where the ADAS sensor is mounted

@@theagentsmith Yeah, actually it might be cheaper because it's one module in door vs one Canbus module in door + one Canbus module in seat. Saying this is more expensive makes me doubt Munro's company credentials.
I like carbon, too, Sandy. I was delivering to CIT coating machines in Italy, Cytec, Torray and Mitsubishi. All these guys are right. It is not the solution to everything but for parts that need to hold something and connect and withstand forces in 3D it is fenomenal. In Leipzig I have seen the making of i3. They gained a lot knowledge there how to make it right. Unfortunately BMW didn’t believe in it and wasted so much time. Even today the cars are good cars to drive but the new ones are just medium to bad EVs… we Germans are too slow to adapt nowadays.
The 7 series I drive rotary control feels amazing, and it's rotation/clicks change depending on what's on the screen - 4 options on screen the dial gives you 4 clicks, if the next screen has 8 options the dial changes to 8! Very slick.
I'm working in the paint shop of the german BMW plant in Dingolfing. This is the only plant where the iX is being built. So, this specific car is from us! I am very proud you like our product this much. Btw, I am a Tesla investor, too 😉
I reckon it looks like every other SUV. I was watching the old Michael Douglas movie ‘the game’ last night and I remember commenting to my mate how much better the old Bimmers looked. There is a story that Audi did some market research and decided that folk thought that a tall grill was prestigious, which is why Audi grills began growing, and I would argue that they did a pretty good job with the styling. Years later it looks like BMW has taken note, but they just don’t seem to be able to get the hang of it. I was watching this video with my mate, and the first thing she said was that the grill looked cheap and painted on, just before Cory mentioned it in the video. I hate Merc EV grills for the same reason. And why do these high end euro mobiles have an interior that looks like a designer handbag? I'm stunned that Sandy is giving them 'a pass' on the frunck. First time I saw the Mazda Mx30, the bonnet was up, and the waste of space in there 'did my head in'. Totally lacking in 'effort made' and this bimmer is the same.
21:30 those charging door covers are very nice! like nissan leaf has. Much better than dangling stupid plastic pieces that you need to pull and push. Not that easy in dark. Also seals properly from elements.
These are the best design for the CCS plug, which won't change after we spend billions in fast charging infrastructure in Europe. I doubt you can push the same amperage through the small Tesla plug long term. Teslas drops below 400A within 5-10 minutes of charging.
On the charge port thing, in Europe where CCS is the standard, when you plug in a type 2 cable for AC charging on a Model 3 will leave bottom of the CCS port open to the elements - that’s why many of the other manufacturers have some plug that lets you keep the bottom of the port covered while AC charging.
I got to drive a Tesla Model X this year and I was very underwhelmed. While the EV-aspects of the car were good, everything else that makes it a "car", wasn't. It didn't feel like a $100K car at all. Interior rattled, loads of tyre and wind noise, plastic, horribly stiff suspension. I didn't like it at all. Some people buy an EV because it's the best EV - but some people want a good car as well, and are therefore willing to sacrifice some range or charging infrastructure for an objectively better built automobile.
@@tobias_dahlberg I’ve owned BMW, Mercedes’, Aston Martin and Maserati my entire life and BMW being my daily driver. In 2016, I bought a Model X. I still own a BMW X5 M-Sport series as I wait for our New Model X Plaid. Safety is the biggest reason for our purchase. My MX has less road noise than any BMW I have ever driven. BMW was trying to sell me an I8. There is more road noise in the i8 then my MX. I’m not sure what road tires were on the model X you drove, but some people do buy the wrong tires that creates road noise. You need to buy tires designed for the car. My MX is the best car I have ever owned and it’s 6 years old. A 6 year old BMW has all sorts of issues including noise and maintenance. I have put $0 dollars into my Model X since 2016 with 70k miles. We never keep our cars this long and my wife doesn’t ever want to get rid of it even after we get the new MX Plaid. I just spent $2,500 on a damn brake job for my BMW X5 M-sport series with 40k miles. Spending $100k for a damn EV without a frunk is moronic. BMW is hiding their technical inferiority. This car is too big to merit not having a frunk. It’s incredibly useful.
@@GET2222 It was an older MX, one of the first to come to Sweden. My old Volvo has a better audio system and less interior noise than that MX. Maybe the newer MX’s have gotten improved on the fit and finish? I’m not sure. That older one I drove also had problems with cooling fluid valves (which is why I had to drive it to the Tesla shop, which by the way was a 4h drive when other companies have dealerships nearby). It wouldn’t charge at a reasonable rate to prevent overheating because of these valves. Tesla charged $1000 to fix this. But yes, maybe that was a bad example, or they’re just not built for the nordic climate. We had door seals that broke and needed to be replaced, a door handle that broke, interior plastic parts that rattled like hell. It was not a good experience. I will keep an open mind nontheless and try out Teslas in the future, but my first experience with one wasn’t good. By the way, I’m not advocating for BMW here. Just comparing Tesla to other high tier cars in general.
@@tobias_dahlberg I get it. My BMW X5 M-Sport will be the last BMW I ever own. It’s been in the shop for 11 recalls. Recalls are normal for BMW, but the amount of time to schedule, drop off, loaner, pickup, transfer car seats, etc… bothered me, but not that much because I always like to look at the bright side of things. I used to think that regular maintenance was me being a good premium car owner. All that changed when I bought our MX. there is nothing to maintain. You just drive it. I live in Minnesota. I have driven it when it’s 37 degrees below zero where you can freeze and evaporate water by throwing it in the air before it hits the ground. Cold drains our battery, because it’s 2016 battery tech, but gasoline cars get worse mileage in cold too. I would never buy a used TESLA. This list is why I will probably never own another EV other than TESLA. • Supercharging network (largest+best) • Mobile service (best) • Software (best) FSD (available with tap of a button) Most Experience in EVs ***Mission is not profits
CCS (Combined Charging System) is a standard for AC and DC charging connector adopted by major car manufacturers like BMW, VW group, Hyundai Group, etc. A Standard means its not a proprietary connector. It's a good thing.
Just to nitpick, The British standard 13 Amp plug is the safest in the world. Clunky does have merit, although a modern version could be just as compact as a standard Euro 2-prong plug with grounding leafs on the perimeter
I did a test drive on the iX50 and Model X now has serious competition. These are high end cars that most people cannot afford but if BMW is able to get something of this quality closer to the Model Y and with the newer battery chemistry then they may have a chance to not go bankrupt. Amazing SUV. Still needs 6 seats.
Has carbon fiber (fibre?) manufacture been automated enough yet to compete on price against stamping or casting? From what I've seen, automated systems are glacially slow (as are hand built, but that's a lot of the problem) Especially if the weave is intended as a aesthetically pleasing surface element, great care needs to go into ensuring the weave pattern is straight and uniform.
You can feel when Sandy likes a particular brand, he comes with plenty of stuff (eg. Saying a non-opening hood is great on an EV, people don't need to do maintenance... Why would you need almost 2mtr of hood on an EV in the first place? Or at 6:20 the hexagon from the carbon weave, matching the front fake grille that is *not* hexagon?) 🤣
You are on point 💯💯💯. It's good to have a honed reasoning faculty so that even when out of one's depth like listening to an expert talk in his field, one can still usefully pick holes in their submission due to their bias or oversight. I felt same way when Munroe said hydrogen definitely has usefulness in heavy trucks and that Battery trucks aren't viable physics-wise
I have owned and thoroughly loved BMW’s for over 40 years. Back in the day, in the IT Industry, (1985 ) I could do 50,000 miles a year in a 520. I’m heartbroken, that they haven’t managed the move to EV’s at all well. This iX is a disaster, yet the i8 and i3 were so groundbreaking.
My brother has a 520i of that vintage on blocks in his garage which he hasn't driven since 1996. The darn thing was always plagued with distributer issues and then the brakes, then the gearbox and then he gave up and bought something less stressful. I have to admit it was a great driving car once underway though in all fairness.
We had an i3 and loved it! It was a funky design that some people don’t like, but we think it is cute. The iX is fugly! The i3 was a great city car. I wish they had developed it to get much better range. So notes we drive a Tesla Model 3!
Sandy in Europe they have mandated CCS as the standard, even Teslas are built with CCS plugs for Europe, Australia, New Zealand and some other markets.
Just FYI, in Europe, tesla does not use their proprietary plug. They use the same CCS port that everyone else does. Why should every other company in the world be forced to use a Telsa charger when everyone else in the world already uses one standard?
Teslas preceded the CCS standard. Typical obstinate europeans designed a connector that's 3 times clunkier than the Tesla one. Triumph of bureaucracy over engineering elegance.
@@BALANCEDPORTFOLIO Oh wow. In that case, every one should be forced to pay Tesla royalties for all of time and use their standard, rather than the freely available one which everyone else uses. Including Tesla, I may add. Just not in the US. Seriously, who is complaining about the charge cable, other than Sandy, who complains about everything that is not from Tesla? CCS is designed to handle up to 500 A and 920 V. Tesla's US plug cannot handle anywhere near that capacity of current. No one wants to guess if the charge station has the correct plug. That is why the EU forced everyone to use the same one. Everyone else in Europe is happy about it, even if Sandy will complain that it was not made by Tesla.
All those controls and buttons on the doors are failure points as Sandy says, think about all the wiring and connectors associated with them . But then again German car owners usually have deep, pockets.
21:35 Kind of weird that Sandy seems to have so little understanding for the European Type 2 charging connector. It is made to be able to support both 1 and 3-phase AC up to 43kW(!). Also keep in mind that most Europeans has 3-phase AC at home. Tesla's US plug only supports 1-phase AC and has far lower power rating.
@@pxidr It still doesn't mean we shouldn't have a standard that supports future charging speeds as well. The e-tron and older Teslas supports 22kW and AFAIK the US Tesla plugs doesn't even support that on AC (and at least not 3-phase).
@@haraldk6828 US Tesla plug supports 240V times 80A, which is 19.2 kW and close enough to 22 kW. The 3 phase to 1 phase converter would have to be integrated into the wallbox charger. The benefit of 3x 32A over 1x 80 A is less lost energy on heat for power dissipation. The benefit of separate AC and DC pins at the connector with CCS is a clear separation of these power paths is better safety and not having to rely on additional contactors in the vehicle to route AC to the onboard charger and DC directly to the battery contactors.
Let me tell you a 22kW AC charger is a very handy backup to have when you live in a country 'polluted' with very unreliable DC charger (Australia) . Also a reason to buy a Tesla as SuCs are your best friend when travelling.
We had two i3s. Both of them were rattle boxes. The bodies shiver and wobble over road imperfections like nothing else. We would be leary to purchase any BMW with CFRP body parts.
I'll take a fully loaded model X over this any day of the week. How often do they make you take it to the dealer for a 'service'? BMW always screwed me for repairs and I'll bet really fully loaded is actually even more than 100k
With the crappy Falcon Wing doors chances are the Model X is gonna be in for repairs every couple of weeks, and the rest of the time they'd be stuck due to ice or rain would get in the car. Tesla makes great vehicles but the X is just an expensive and ugly piece of crap compared to their other cars. For the same money, get an S every day of the week...or a Performance Y and enjoy the leftover change.
Haha don’t compare a model X to this. Model X is vapor ware. Not made for real people. And go talk about people who own a model S and X if they are using their frunk or not.
I drive a Tesla Model Y Long Range and test drove an iX xDrive40, wasn’t impressed. The steering was unbelievably light even in the sportier setting. It rides much better than my Model Y but lacked any feeling of dynamics. The interior is the real deal breaker, impossible infotainment system and not very much storage space, no frunk and no lower trunk storage
Sandy hitting home-base with his points on CFRP. Too many people in the industry are scared to death about them, thinking it's expensive stuff just for Formula 1. It isn't. If done right, structures made of composites will save you time, money and complexity. On top of needing less material overall and being able to mold them in crazy shapes, another very strong point for composites in today's world with crazy energy prices is that they are much less energy intensive to sork with than metals and whatnots.
Just wait until we see why the hood can't support a frunk. Its going to be bad and the carbon fiber is likely because they are too heavy with the EV drivetrain.
Now owner accessible, I understand. You get to save on all the hardware associated with opening, Closing and articulating it, But where are the bolts holding that thing in place hidden?
I test drove a base trim iX and while it performed well, the interior had a cheap feeling inappropriate for a roughly $90K car. Spending up to the top trim brings more opulence (I think that’s the word Corey was looking for) but to me it’s got Mar a Lago vibe I couldn’t live with and some reviewers complained that the faceted glass knobs flashed sunlight in their eyes. We ended up ordering a well-spec’d i4 e40.

The 'grill' is awful Corey is right, hope that washer fluid cap locks because vandals will have a field day pouring all sorts into the tank. I liked BMW in the past but not this model.
It's one thing to be "purdy" and look luxurious, but let's hope it doesn't rapidgate and go into limp mode for 25 miles every time you fast charge it like it's little brother: the i4 M50. Lots of legacy manufacturers are great at making nice cars but not so good at the mechanicals and electronics that make an EV reliable and safe. People rave about certain models and they end up showing their warts eventually: battery recalls, contactors welding closed, rapidgate/overheating, cuts power after 5 seconds at full throttle, legacy infotainment lag, etc. etc.
On the Start/Stop button being there vs being removed, what is the safety backup for a stuck accelerator pedal? What will stop the car if a Start/Stop button was removed?
I saw it at the dealer's, I was allowed to play in it all I wanted but I couldn't even bring my self to sit in it. It's that hideous. It's so boring that they have to come up with all sorts of busy body-work to make it interesting and it falls flat on it's face. What on earth Sandy sees in this I don't know. And I"m on my 5th BMW.
Here you are with very little understanding of the physics and electronics of the front. The "grill " you talk isn't just your run of the mill grill. It's the sensor panel housing all the driver assistance tech. It has to be smooth to allow the radar sensor to"see" the world in front of it without hindrance.
I'm not into bashing the grill so much. It's a grill. It's oversized. Whatever. The interior of the car is the star. That's a beautiful interior and finally BMW broke the mold with it. It's the direction all BMWs should go in IMO. From what I've read of how this car is built and drives, it is outstanding. Sandy is showing at least he likes what he sees and actually isn't just looking at engineering only when assessing the car, which is welcome.
@@tyranchster it’s also nice to see the bottle, so that you have an indication that it’s nearly full when filling. Or at least a clear plastic funnel area.

He’s actually discussed this before in other videos. Depends on the volumes you are aiming for. Over like 100k units per year aluminum or steel become significantly cheaper.
But recycling is still a big problem. If it is pure CFRP, then on average only 50% of the starting material can be reused (statement from BMW 2021). But it is particularly critical when CFRP is combined with other materials. Because the carbon fibers and their dust is conductive and repeatedly causes damage and disruptions in recycling plants. This is why such CFRP parts have to be dismantled separately from the bodyshell, for example.
@@Zedus-rl9hp lol….. recycling has seriously evolved over the years now they used many different methods and carbon fiber is actually a serious plus to EVs imagine instead of using that heavy glass they put carbon fiber there!!
I suspect the hard port in the top of the seat back near the neck protector area is a neck heater vent similar to the Mercedes “Airscarf” found in their convertible models.
It seems that "this is a nice/great/innovative feature" comments are made much more frequently about Tesla cars than about other brands. As somebody who owns shares in Tesla, I'm happy to hear that Tesla often out-innovates the competition. However, it was refreshingly nice to hear lots of such comments about a competing brand of EV in this video. So, well done to BMW.

I like the door handles, they (theoretically) can’t freeze stuck in winter like Tesla’s and the Ioniq 5/EV6 door handles do. I like the Mach-E door design as well, but the button can still covered in a layer of ice.
I don't think Tesla's door handles actually freeze in winter. Some years ago they had an issue where something broke in the door handles, they've fixed it since then
Ask you wife how they work for her 200 dollar fingernails :-)
Completely agree with Cory on the front grille. I saw one today here in Massachusetts, and with a front license plate it looks even worse. Genuinely looks like two buck teeth with a front plate on.
This styling is supposed to appeal to Chinese buyers. West doesn't matter anymore for BMW
Good for the carbon fibre reinforced plastic but what about reparability?
Not an issue for BMW. In fact, might be a positive - if you can't repair it, they get to sell another one.
The back is definitely a lot better looking than the front in my opinion
the front "grille" is similar to the Cadillac Lyrqiq with that "self-heaing" properties upon light rock chip damages from driving around. also interesting to see the heating elements on the "grille" to melt snow build up on the place where the ADAS sensor is mounted
Those infotainment controls are so succulent 😂😂😂
😂
That door-mounted seat switch was likely an inexpensive move - using the can bus already present for the window switch, door lock, latch release, etc.
Agreed, my dad's 2008 Audi has a canbus controller for each door, it's much easier to add seat controls on the door than in the past, where the switches were controlling the seat motors directly
@@theagentsmith Yeah, actually it might be cheaper because it's one module in door vs one Canbus module in door + one Canbus module in seat. Saying this is more expensive makes me doubt Munro's company credentials.
UK 13A plug is £1.09 at Screwfix and can run everything up to a MIG welder or dryer. How much is a Type B plug from Home Depot?
Sandy’s sarcasm is goals.
We all inspire to be like Sandy.
Best door handles on the market in my opinion. Beautifully simple.
Great video. I love that Munro is a straight shooter with comment advocating a great form factor for a charger connector.
Tesla chargers are far superior. Light, ergonomic and robust.
Very slick.
Sandy couldn't be more wrong about the "styling" of this vehicle. It is the true successor to the i3. BMW got it wrong!
This styling is supposed to appeal to Chinese buyers. West doesn't matter anymore.
Love these boys interaction.
Thanks Alton
On the charge port thing, in Europe where CCS is the standard, when you plug in a type 2 cable for AC charging on a Model 3 will leave bottom of the CCS port open to the elements - that’s why many of the other manufacturers have some plug that lets you keep the bottom of the port covered while AC charging.
I agree with Cory re: the front grill. Looks cheap. Overall vehicle style looks nice, but if I wanted an SUV, The Model X all day, every day.
The front grill is some kind of special plastic that "heals" if you apply heat to it.
Until battery technology can charge to 100% and it doesn’t degrade the battery when it is driven to 0%. I would not trust that the person who owned it before that they properly took care of the car. I don’t like buying other peoples problems.
Tesla mobile service comes to my house and swaps out my seasonal tires for me for $75! I do t have to drive anywhere and sit for 90 minutes while they get around to it.
Tesla service understands EVs. Everytime I walk into our super high end BMW dealership (top 5 in the US - 150 employees) no one there has a clue about EVs. They lack experience like every other OEM.
This list is why I will probably never own another EV other than TESLA.

Great first impressions overview Sandy and Cory. Glad you liked the comfortable Ariat boots.
Thanks Jay
CCS (Combined Charging System) is a standard for AC and DC charging connector adopted by major car manufacturers like BMW, VW group, Hyundai Group, etc. A Standard means its not a proprietary connector. It's a good thing.
Just to nitpick, The British standard 13 Amp plug is the safest in the world. Clunky does have merit, although a modern version could be just as compact as a standard Euro 2-prong plug with grounding leafs on the perimeter
Yep 2.8kw from a normal wall socket is nothing to sneeze at
I think they max out at a useful 13 A ( I note the Europeans manage 16 A from their circular designs )
@@maxflight777 And they have their own fuse on the live wire
The carbon FRP pattern is not from the fabric (BMW uses non-woven mat) but a petter from the mold surface..
Love the talk about the charger and charging port on top of everything else. Thank you 👍
If I’m not mistaken Sandy, those lights are a £2500 option in the UK 😳
Ouch!
They carried that round bmw logo through to the round wheels. Very clever
If you pull the two doodles on the sides of the dash, the hood opens. Not much to see inside, looks like an ice car engine bay.
Yes, we looked under the hood.
i LOVE the addiitonal in depth review videos in addition to the teardown stuff.
The front grill is a deal breaker.
The defective batteries too. 😅
Grill a deal breaker? Stupid premise. It drives incredible and will look great for years.
It's a deal-breaker on something like the 4-series, but this is acceptable
When i saw the IX a couple of days ago at bmw world in munich i saw the viper fluid intake and knew that sandy was going to like them
I have owned and thoroughly loved BMW’s for over 40 years.
Back in the day, in the IT Industry, (1985 ) I could do 50,000 miles a year in a 520.
I’m heartbroken, that they haven’t managed the move to EV’s at all well.
This iX is a disaster, yet the i8 and i3 were so groundbreaking.
Yeah, I kinda liked the i8 and the i3
My brother has a 520i of that vintage on blocks in his garage which he hasn't driven since 1996.
@@danwilcox4914 Yep, soooo Fugly! I hear reports of children describing the face as 'an angry beaver'. And no one wants an 'angry beaver' ha ha.
I saw one of these in Switzerland in January 2022 and it was pretty amazing.
Cory thinks Sandy is nuts regarding the styling. I love the fact that the seats are cloth!
Sandy in Europe they have mandated CCS as the standard, even Teslas are built with CCS plugs for Europe, Australia, New Zealand and some other markets.
CCS can do 3-phase charging too. Unlike the silly North American Tesla plug.
You both look super cool 😎. With those sunglasses.
Thank you 😁
At 15.54 Sandy, to Corey, "that wasn't very polite". I should not have been drinking coffee at the time. Sandys unfiltered remark's CRACK me up!
Brit here… love the queen and love my plug sockets (which don’t cost usd 5)
All those controls and buttons on the doors are failure points as Sandy says, think about all the wiring and connectors associated with them . But then again German car owners usually have deep, pockets.
Correct, we love them buttons.
What function does those growths on the front end have?
21:35 Kind of weird that Sandy seems to have so little understanding for the European Type 2 charging connector. It is made to be able to support both 1 and 3-phase AC up to 43kW(!). Also keep in mind that most Europeans has 3-phase AC at home. Tesla's US plug only supports 1-phase AC and has far lower power rating.
Still, cars with 43kW AC charging are almost inexistant, except the old Renault Zoe.
@@koeniglicher All true but the best would be a bidirectional DC only standard.
Great review from Sandy & Cory
Appropriate to have a B&W sound system in a BMW
Every properly made EV has frunk space. These sealed hood gimmicks are likely hiding a rat's nest of poor engineering.
Haha don’t compare a model X to this. Model X is vapor ware. Not made for real people. And go talk about people who own a model S and X if they are using their frunk or not.
I bought a BMW EV Dec’21, first „service” - brake fluid replacement, included in the price, is scheduled for Dec’23, so pls cut the bs
Tesla screws you over 100% of the time, that’s one thing you can be sure of. I think this BMW is atrocious and stupid, but so is Tesla.
Thanks
Welcome
I drive a Tesla Model Y Long Range and test drove an iX xDrive40, wasn’t impressed. The steering was unbelievably light even in the sportier setting. It rides much better than my Model Y but lacked any feeling of dynamics. The interior is the real deal breaker, impossible infotainment system and not very much storage space, no frunk and no lower trunk storage
Tesla seems to be producing a better bimmer then BMW do
The interior door handle button was also very strangely spaced from where you grab to exit the car.
All well and good, but let's see about performance including GVW, charging speed, efficiency and range...
Styling is subjective. I like my i3 styling more than this. (I like Tesla styling better than both though)
I find the "kidneys" super ugly.
i3 has normal looking kidney beans. Not these woodchuck things.
Thats all great Sandy, but where do you charge it on the road?
"The best part is no part" - Elon Musk
When asked “How do you maintain an electric car?” Ask, how do you maintain your bathroom exhaust fan?
Ya, you don’t ever think about it.
if BMW came out with the i8 with the guts of Tesla model S - they would have been on top, 7 or 10 years ago
You are not the only one who love CF!
Nonsense!!!! What do you call cheap!? Bmw litteraly Used recycled materials all around the interior and sandy and you can’t even talk about that!? You just talk crap!!!
From recycled plastics to fibers to even leather tanned with natural products…….. also bmw has built one of the worlds largest carbon fiber production factory in the world located in the us
Thanks for the awesome review! Good team work. You complemented each other well. Its good to hear varying opinions.
The 'grill' is awful Corey is right, hope that washer fluid cap locks because vandals will have a field day pouring all sorts into the tank. I liked BMW in the past but not this model.
Nothing for the streets of Paris! Unless you like a yellow windscreen!
obviously that fluid cap locks with the doors..
CCS is the standard, in Europe and US and its capable for higher power.
People rave about certain models and they end up showing their warts eventually: battery recalls, contactors welding closed, rapidgate/overheating, cuts power after 5 seconds at full throttle, legacy infotainment lag, etc. etc.
Exactly
On the Start/Stop button being there vs being removed, what is the safety backup for a stuck accelerator pedal? What will stop the car if a Start/Stop button was removed?
Brakes?
Shift to neutral?
That entire front end is the fugliest thing I've ever seen.
Never saw a seal at the A-pillar door gap before. Is it a pre door-seal - what`s it for?
🤗👍 I LOVE ❤️ SANDY’s LITTLE RANT and I agree on the styling 🤩🤩and being out of my budget 💰
Painted-on grill? Does it have a painted-on exhaust ports with painted-on exhaust staining?
I saw it at the dealer's, I was allowed to play in it all I wanted but I couldn't even bring my self to sit in it. It's that hideous. It's so boring that they have to come up with all sorts of busy body-work to make it interesting and it falls flat on it's face.
What on earth Sandy sees in this I don't know. And I"m on my 5th BMW.
I agree - endless bling on a boring station wagon. And no frunk/froot!

Traditional I-drives turned, pressed and tilted. I didn't notice you using the tilt, but I assume it does that.
HATE it... the obviously plastic toy front, printed grill.... YUCK!! 🤮
Especially the ones that have the blue accents everywhere are the worst.
It’s self healing
Sandy’s love of the washer fluid openings is hilarious to me. I’ve never refilled washer fluids myself in 15 years of driving.
I hope it locks on the key otherwise all sorts of ‘common’ folk could take revenge on the luxury SUV.
The first thing I worry about is spilling washer fluid on the paint, which anybody would. Don’t like the idea at all!

Sandy, thank you advocating for the widespread use of Carbon fiber in cars. Hope Elon is listening.
Great and informative review as usual.
He’s actually discussed this before in other videos. Depends on the volumes you are aiming for. Over like 100k units per year aluminum or steel become significantly cheaper.
Thanks
