Intresting video thanks, There seems to be a fair selection of Traders, both new major names, and indipendant selling used gear and components etc. The rally doesn't seem anywhere near as large or busy as those back in the 90s though. A sign of the times I guess. Who remembers the Pickets Lock Rallies in North London in the 90s? ,Three large halls, and extremely busy over the two days they took place.
It’s the biggest i have attended but a lot of folk seem to think things are on a downward spiral, probably just the lack of interest in the younger generation and quite a few old boys lost over the years will probably have a impact.
@@gtretroworld we went up on the Saturday. There seemed to be more people and stock on the Friday. It's was a good day, but tiring. The weather was warm and sunny. I wasn't happy that Moonraker had no stock and I voiced my concerns with Justin on the stand. Although it was nice to get some freebies. David M0DUU
@@David-km8in Yeah the free Maps were pretty cool, i also was surprised Moonraker didn’t take any stock but they did mention last week they didn’t plan on taking anything.
@@gtretroworld Moonraker haven't taken any stock for two years now. I was told that they can't afford to bring anything and if they did, they wouldn't have any stock at the shop to sell. They just have a presence at rallies now. Also Navada and Waters and Stanton are affiliated with Moonraker. And all there orders are fulfilled by Moonraker.
@@2m0rot Honestly it was well worth a visit, the flea market was probably a slight disappointment but i guess that was down to the previous days weather putting people off.

I was a bit surprised myself but like others have said they seem to have moved over to more online and supplying the trade these days, still good for them to show their face and hand out freebies.
Back in the 1980s and 1990s the licence was hard to get ,radios were expensive,the many rallies were big and well attended....fast forward to now the licence has never been so easy to obtain, you can get radios cheap as meal for 2 and most the big rallies have disappeared with little worth buying secondhand unless you like paying top dollar for sold as seen equipment with no comeback when it doesn't work...I attended many events helping a trader so have witnessed the death of rallies , as for the repeaters there seems to be many that go unused.
Tbh this is probably the biggest rally i have attended so i was quite happy with it. I agree with some of the old used kit being way overpriced especially if it comes without any warranty. I guess times are changing.
@@gtretroworld Having lived in London until 2006 I was always used to having several big rallies nearby, Pickett's lock was a sports centre and the rally there occupied 3 large halls, Brighton racecourse rally was a day out, kempton park and sandown were across town at racecourses, bletchley park,stockwood park a bit further,elvaston castle, donnington,Longleat, NEC ,Leicester, all great rallies but only stockwood park in Luton still going which is outdoor and weather dependent , I even used to go to Llandudno in autumn on my 100cc motorbike and stay the night and ride back next day. Lots of things now for sale on eBay but you run the risk as a seller of people swapping parts or saying an item was not as described, more protection as a buyer which seems wrong. Incidentally eBay have as of 1st October removed fees for sellers so perhaps there will be more interesting things for sale soon, I don't mind giving 10% selling at a bring and buy knowing it goes to a radio club but not to a multimillion pound company.
@@jamesdexter7481 I noticed eBay have removed fees which is very interesting, ideal for my on going clearout. I think we are living in strange fast changing times, god knows how this hobby will survive past our era.
@@gtretroworld I forgot to mention about the increased noise floor and EMC conformity of electronics. Back in the day all power supplies were linear 50hz transformer based, non of this switched mode rubbish, properly made the broadcast interference can be minor but people using cheap chargers can wipe out the HF bands. Power line adaptors that squirt internet into your mains house wiring are a known source of BCI but as a man from the DTI said at a radio club meeting I attended " the trouble with you amateurs is that you listen to such weak signals". I do most of my shortwave listening now using online SDR dongles, the RSGB have a list on their site, I couldn't hope to hear as much from this location due to aerial limitations and a constant S7 noise floor, as for VHF that seems dead apart from a local clique using the local repeater for their Sunday afternoon net.
@@jamesdexter7481 I get hammered off my own Solar inverter during the day and at night next doors Storage battery charging. Luckily for me it isn’t on every band but cheap modern electronics are filthy junk. It would be almost impossible to correct the problem.

I suppose it all depends what takes your fancy on the day, tbh i didn’t come away with a lot but I enjoyed it.
I remember a few years ago they had a lot more exhibitors. Just didn’t seem to be as many this year.

Looks like there were many more people there than in the other videos.
I think a few of the other videos were from Saturday which for some reason was a lot quieter.
I think there was more people there on the Saturday than the Friday when I went and I was there all day
