Hi I just discovered you on you a few weeks ago and have really enjoyed everything you have done. Especially Sailor Moon which I didn't watch. I have a question maybe you could give me a hint of discovery. I was born at 4:30. AM or PM was not marked. I have ask people in my family with no help. Is there an aspect you would look at to determine which time would fit.

I just love how you approach astrology; you not only break down each sign, but remind us of the mythology, the traditional aspects of each sign, but you also teach what the etymology of the sign means. (I never knew that the word “literate” meant able to read Latin, or unable to read Latin!) I also just love your voice and your passion for astrology as well, and the longer videos. What a long and thorough examination of these dignitaries, Christopher. Thank you. It took me FOUR sittings to absorb this and yet you never seemed to slow down. Copious notes. I suspect this will be very helpful in reading charts for my family members. It demonstrates both how popular Astrology was and the tremendous role that the Church played in the preservation of it. A great, agriculturally based rendering of the planets and their seasonal associations as laid down by tradition. Great work Chris Renstrom. EVERYTHING about astrology is seasonally based and so it makes abundant sense to reverse the signs in the southern hemisphere as some astrologers do. That this is not the dominant approach is another modern astrology failure, like the modern rulerships, which don't actually work in practice. Modern astrology was an interesting movement that offered some ideas but what is happening is a coalescing around a rejection of lots of it in favor of the traditional approach. Southern hemisphere reversal of signs may be next. The main miss in this video is where he tries to psychologize the signs far too much and build likely scenarios of the planets in them which do not fit most people in actual lived reality with these placements. Of course they are just archetypal ideas and there is a need to be flexible with them. He doesn't remind people of that and suggests, this is how it will express. Astrology works better as encounters of situations that the placements describe, as a kind of fate that was or is experienced periodically, than as a description of character. Renstrom, obviously has a penchant for theater and stories and myth but mistakenly puts that with planets in signs instead of leaving it as dignities as indications of planetary strength which can and will play out in many different ways acc to the rest of the chart. I believe he knows this and probably practices astrology that way but this video has too much emphasis on the psychological narratives of signs which are dubious. Highlights of this video that offer unique insights are descriptions of Jupiter in detriment, Jupiter in exaltation, Mercury in detriment, Saturn in domicile in both Capricorn and Aquarius and detailing the myth of Saturn as both discipline/restraint and exile/rebel/on the margins traditionally (as opposed to using Uranus for that signification). Original insights on Saturn in detriment.

I'm so glad that you enjoyed the episode. And yes! A planet being in detriment or fall isn't necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes it creates an avenue or an expression that the planet might not have taken if not for this particular dignity. 😊

Thank you again!! I'm back to my homework, where I got stuck at essential dignities. I've read all my work book for this lesson. Read the flash cards. And then came back and listened to this back to back again. Mars in cancer- I had given up. "Oh well. Doesn't matter if I don't get my year 1 certificate." And the ship has come back around 😊 It's extra amazing that I think you're teaching style, will get me back on course now. And you're the only person I know of that knows Michael Lutin. I mentioned in a comment to you a long time ago, that I read the section of his book Saturn about leo sun and saturn scorpio, in the library of the TS society in 2007 when I was 21. Stomped upstairs and tore off the phone number tab for my first real Astrology class. Do you have a copy of "Saturn" by Michael Lutin? It is impossible to attain. I would love to one day re-read that passage. I would especially love to show it to my beautiful doctor, who is highly sceptical about Astrology. My doctor is my favourite Michael. He looks after me and my ASD, ADHD, C-PTSD, manic depressive busy very strong air signed heavy mind, so wonderfully. Which makes such sense to me now that I've heard you talk about Jupiter in Cancer, which he has. As well as scorpio venus and moon. He makes me sit back down and be honest. Rather than rush me out, like most drs. But he seems very deflated whenever I talk about Astrology. But he's let me do his chart clearly. And he watched me very curiously, pull out a printed bi-wheel for myself for the mars uranus transit, while he was taking a call. So he's becoming interested. I would just love for him to know what made me sure. And that Astrology is part of my healing, not part of my illnesses. If you would ever be able to even get a photo oh that one passage, I would pay anything and always give credit, for what really started me on the right path. Validated me. And gave me the first sense of being pretty sure we're not all here as an accident. I guess after having Adam Elanbaas as my teacher for the last 2 years I should be able to admit that Astrology is my spiritual practice. Moon in the 9th- raised by scathing atheists. Astrology saved me from that. You good sir, are just the best. Also- I've started reading old Frog and Toad books to my 5 year old, with you in mind, while I put on the voices. Which made a lovely old man and my 5yo both laugh equally, while sitting in a waiting room. That's way off tangent, but since I've written a novel here I thought I may as well throw that in too!! When reading to children now, I think WWCD for the delivery 🥰

5 planets in domicile natally. Must say, Venus being so strong, can be really difficult, put off or revolted so easily and by so many things. But maybe that's the Venus Saturn trine.
@Christopher, I watched this video the first day it came out by using the bookmarks so I could skip right to my own Mercury, Venus, Mars, Saturn and Jupiter, that all land in these categories! Today I went back and listened to the entire video and I'm so glad I did. So much insight and helpful nuggets in hearing your interpretation of the whole progression of the planets through their domicile, detriment, exaltation, and fall. As always, Bravo to you on this awesome teaching! I am also curious if you might do a video someday about any of these situations (eg detriment) and the effect when it's also connected to a significant aspect (eg trine, opposition, etc.) as well as related to house position (eg Mercury in 3rd).

A great, agriculturally based rendering of the planets and their seasonal associations as laid down by tradition. Great work Chris Renstrom. EVERYTHING about astrology is seasonally based and so it makes abundant sense to reverse the signs in the southern hemisphere as some astrologers do. That this is not the dominant approach is another modern astrology failure, like the modern rulerships, which don't actually work in practice. Modern astrology was an interesting movement that offered some ideas but what is happening is a coalescing around a rejection of lots of it in favor of the traditional approach. Southern hemisphere reversal of signs may be next.
The main miss in this video is where he tries to psychologize the signs far too much and build likely scenarios of the planets in them which do not fit most people in actual lived reality with these placements. Of course they are just archetypal ideas and there is a need to be flexible with them. He doesn't remind people of that and suggests, this is how it will express. Astrology works better as encounters of situations that the placements describe, as a kind of fate that was or is experienced periodically, than as a description of character. Renstrom, obviously has a penchant for theater and stories and myth but mistakenly puts that with planets in signs instead of leaving it as dignities as indications of planetary strength which can and will play out in many different ways acc to the rest of the chart. I believe he knows this and probably practices astrology that way but this video has too much emphasis on the psychological narratives of signs which are dubious.
Highlights of this video that offer unique insights are descriptions of Jupiter in detriment, Jupiter in exaltation, Mercury in detriment, Saturn in domicile in both Capricorn and Aquarius and detailing the myth of Saturn as both discipline/restraint and exile/rebel/on the margins traditionally (as opposed to using Uranus for that signification). Original insights on Saturn in detriment.

And you're the only person I know of that knows Michael Lutin. I mentioned in a comment to you a long time ago, that I read the section of his book Saturn about leo sun and saturn scorpio, in the library of the TS society in 2007 when I was 21. Stomped upstairs and tore off the phone number tab for my first real Astrology class.
Do you have a copy of "Saturn" by Michael Lutin? It is impossible to attain. I would love to one day re-read that passage. I would especially love to show it to my beautiful doctor, who is highly sceptical about Astrology. My doctor is my favourite Michael. He looks after me and my ASD, ADHD, C-PTSD, manic depressive busy very strong air signed heavy mind, so wonderfully.
Which makes such sense to me now that I've heard you talk about Jupiter in Cancer, which he has. As well as scorpio venus and moon. He makes me sit back down and be honest. Rather than rush me out, like most drs.
But he seems very deflated whenever I talk about Astrology. But he's let me do his chart clearly. And he watched me very curiously, pull out a printed bi-wheel for myself for the mars uranus transit, while he was taking a call. So he's becoming interested. I would just love for him to know what made me sure. And that Astrology is part of my healing, not part of my illnesses.
If you would ever be able to even get a photo oh that one passage, I would pay anything and always give credit, for what really started me on the right path. Validated me. And gave me the first sense of being pretty sure we're not all here as an accident. I guess after having Adam Elanbaas as my teacher for the last 2 years I should be able to admit that Astrology is my spiritual practice. Moon in the 9th- raised by scathing atheists. Astrology saved me from that.
You good sir, are just the best. Also- I've started reading old Frog and Toad books to my 5 year old, with you in mind, while I put on the voices. Which made a lovely old man and my 5yo both laugh equally, while sitting in a waiting room. That's way off tangent, but since I've written a novel here I thought I may as well throw that in too!! When reading to children now, I think WWCD for the delivery 🥰

@Christopher, I watched this video the first day it came out by using the bookmarks so I could skip right to my own Mercury, Venus, Mars, Saturn and Jupiter, that all land in these categories!
Today I went back and listened to the entire video and I'm so glad I did. So much insight and helpful nuggets in hearing your interpretation of the whole progression of the planets through their domicile, detriment, exaltation, and fall. As always, Bravo to you on this awesome teaching! I am also curious if you might do a video someday about any of these situations (eg detriment) and the effect when it's also connected to a significant aspect (eg trine, opposition, etc.) as well as related to house position (eg Mercury in 3rd).
