@RaoulDuke333 I should think years, I only put a kit in my 97 to make it smoother, but tbh it was shooting fantastic out of the box. Usually people buy a HW and never touch them and keep them for 20+ years.
Oh, cmmooon man, "trying not to look at the scratch"! It's a 5 minutes work with a wooden powder (grinded wood), glue, and a drop of lacquer. Great gun!
Hi buddy ,any idea how to remove the button from the cocking arm at the muzzle end ,mine is stiff and very noisy ,was thinking of removing it and making a magnetic catch
Things can always be fettled and fine tuned? They do have a bit of a twang and this kit certainly put a stop to that. Accuracy wise, be very hard to beat
Just came across your video by accident, did you check the power level on a crono, asking because I ordered a 12fpe kit for my .22 diana 34 was shooting nice until I tested it , 15fpe , they sent me the wrong kit had that thing apart 4 times shortening the spring and re testing, according to the internet I'm not the first person this has happened to
Where in Essex are you based. Do you fit kits for other people. I was going to send my HW95 to Sandwell field sports but these kits look less hassle. Cheers.
Id have left the spring that was in it, all thats needed is a couple piston sleeves, made from 2 litre pop bottles as long as the bottle is smooth, ive had lots Weihrauch's and ive done them all makes a big difference on accuracy and quietness.
My problem is that after a period of time the spring jumps out of the plastic spring guide then the rifle shots pretty loud and there is no more accuracy. I need to unbuild everything for the second time und turn back the end of the spring on the seat of the plastic spring guide
I'll be putting a few more pellets through it before chrono testing it, hopefully it's where I want it to be? Tested a few pellets today and it did sound quite loud in comparison, no buzz though so mission half accomplished??
I was going to get one of these drop in kits, but noticed other than a noise reduction it's not really worth the cost. I ended up taking mine for a full glided tune. Nothing beats a Nick Simmons tuning 🙂
I've got a piston glided and reduced by Nick in my HW35. I've just got a few little bits to do and it's back together and I can see how it performs over stock
Had the full works done. Lightened and glided piston, glided compression tube(also had the compression tube blacked) , short stroked, brit seal on the piston, fitted spring guides and top hat and a full deburr. Oh I some trigger work was also done. It's incredible to shoot, hardly any recoil and the action is very quiet. The pellet hitting the target is louder than the shot cycle. In fact it's so quiet, I had to remove the spring and felt from the moderator as I could hear that spring ringing after a shot 😅
I have a Hw97 that’s a couple of years old only had approximately 300 pellets works good apart from the twang do you offer this service for others please.
@@keith6930 haha no probs many thanks for a speedy answer like the rifle just not the twang you have a new subscriber from another fellow Essex boy lol.
@@dennishilton5365if you’re not confident doing it yourself, there’s a bunch of videos on TH-cam by TinBumTuning. He makes kits as well but his videos for disassembly are very helpful:) there’s not much you can mess up honestly, give it a go👊🏻
The action and cycle didn't need any improvement, it wasn't heavy or hard. It was all about the twang and resonance of that spring and this kit has eliminated this for sure. I can't really remember the previous spring but this feels like a little more snap when shooting, in a good way that is, recoil is a little less looking at older videos of the front end?
I’m seriously thinking to get one of these kits for mine now as it’s just about at the end of its warranty, I don’t like changing things until after that, where is the cheapest place to get the kit or is it only sold by vortek?
They're imported from the US by Precision Ballistics. Due stock to be delivered soon, takes a few weeks to pass customs and the web page will be updated.
Following this kit? Would you believe 18.5ft Ibs was the highest with the 10.34gr pellet!!! It needed 2 coils to be cut off to get back to sub 12. I could have left it cocked overnight to see if that helped reduce the initial power but didn't fancy it would have done too much. It shoots really well so far and sounds better? Less twangy?
I got them from Precision Ballistics so domestic rates for postage? No idea if bought the from EU or US. Shame as they seem to be out of stock now. I got one for my HW35 and no change in power and a doddle to fit. I would have liked to have got one for the HW80 too but will have to keep an eye out on there web page
@@phillipsharpe6459 the only place I've seen them for sale is Precision Ballistics in Uxbridge way. Hoping they have deliveries or imports from the US as I want one for the HW80. As a drop in style kit, very well made
Brought a rusting HW97k from a couple of young lads that had been storing it in a woodland in a gun bag, not even at legal age to own an air rifle. I didn't want or need another rifle in my collection but needed to get the rifle out of their hands for safety sake really. Paid them 100 pounds for their rifle, didn't even know what it was until they delivered it to my home, was happy to have possibly saved some injury to some thing or someone. Gave the rifle a quick oil and general tinfoil clean, set the scope up that was wound right out of poi, I was stacking pellets one on top of each other at 100ft, the length of my garden, the most accurate I've ever been with any air rifle. I sold the rifle to a guy I worked with at the time for the same money I had paid for it, regretted it ever since. At least the rifle got taken on by someone mature and was getting regular use in his back garden range.
I bought a blue laminate hw97k 5 years ago, such a beautiful rifle and indeed accurate as can be:) put a kit in there as well and some polishing on the piston and trigger sears. I’ve noticed they almost doubled in price in a couple of years now…
Certainly not the 'red' thread lock as yes that needs heat. 'Blue' is more than just enough to stop the vibrations loosening the stock and trigger scews
@keith6930 just take your time and start with a lighter colour as when you lay over with a varnish, this will darken as well ,also use some frog masking tape each side of the scratch so to not over spill onto the original, I used to do this 35 years ago ,in and out of bushes and resting on stuff in the field, I gave up full bore rifle shooting 6 years ago ,worse thing I did ,now looking into air rifles again as I once had a HW77K but looking at the 97 now and tuning it ,if the wife let's me lol I've spent £4000 on metal detectors in the last 6 years but she forgets I've found 2 hoards and I am up by about £36,000 lol
I've found them ok, can't say the same about other drop ins like the TBT and Titan springs. Each gun will shoot differently or maybe what the shooter expects? Mileage may vary?
You're probably right, it is a beautiful looking rifle but that anti bear trap clicking noise would do my head in. The rifle I would like but so much money is the Pro Sport
Great video, I got Welsh Willy to put his kit in my 97 and it make a big difference, my 97 is definitely my favourite gun and most used.
It deserves it, the 97 is a cracking rifle
I have hw95 and 97 , was wondering how long do you think a brand new hw out of the box would last with moderate to low use before repairs are needed

I am so ashamed of that scratch 😆 can't look at it, let alone get round to getting it fixed
Quality work done. Now we are waiting for the results of shooting with the new kit, measuring the bullet speed and your impressions
Fingers crossed it's still UK legal and hasn't lost any power

I would say a couple of tins of pellets before you consider a kit.
My 97 actually was near perfect after 50 pellets.
Did you manage to get the scratch out ?
I’ve also got a scratch/mark on mine.
Nope, still there, try to ignore it when I've had it out as it depresses
Looking forward to the chrono results. Looks like low recoil.
Yep, feels it

Very job, nice rifle 🙂👍

The buzz I believe is from spring resonance and a liner would certainly be a quick and easy fix to help eliminate this
