What you're missing on the plug/socket puzzles: look closely at the plugs, some have 1 light, others have 2 (1 might be blue, 2 green not certain.) 1 give less power, 2 is more. Also you left your Sensearound on, it's what makes items show as white squares on your minimap. That's what was draining your energy, not hacking the panel. You can turn it off to the left of your inventory, it's orange when on, or bind a key to it. The Bio Monitor, the "fluff" that you turned off on the upper left, can give you info about your current power draw (hover cursor over it) as well as a visual indication of your stamina.
Ah, that’s brilliant, cheers for the tip. I’ll keep an eye on the colours for the next panel we hack. Yep, that’d do it. I didn’t realise those mods drew power as well.

"They can move?!"
I know, it's a shocker that something called a "Hopper" can move, isn't it? XD
And yet, it doesn’t hop 🤯
Enjoying the gameplay. It inspired me to pick it up on steam
Nice! Let us know what you think of it.
